  1. Been ordering stuff for my shark rig lately... I think I've finally got everything I need on order. Line, leader, swivels, beads, weights, wire, hooks, crimps, thimbles, all the little things that get overlooked yet end up costing a whole lot And of course every time I forget one little thing I end up thinking of a bunch of other stuff to throw on the order. Not to mention, I needed a new spinning setup to catch bait with

I've recently been interested in land-based shark fishing and am trying to learn as much as I can about it. I have gone with a friend a couple of times and it has been a lot of fun! I get motion sick easily so I can't go offshore, so the fact that I can still chase giant fish from land is very exciting. Anyways, I want to know: When is the best time of year for land based shark fishing in NW Florida? I heard that on the east coast it's Jan-Apr because of the gulf stream migration (?) but am not sure if that applies to the gulf coast side as well. Can you still catch em in the heat of the summer, aka right now? There is very limited info on this online... FYI I've been using spinning tackle, haven't graduated to the big conventional rods & kayaks yet. My biggest so far is a 4.5ft black tip.
  3. I got one of these, it can store your weights, calculate your total bag, and you can "cull" throughout the day. I use it for fun fishing, I'm not a fan of tournaments!

I still throw em every once in awhile, and yes they still work tx rig or Carolina rig Same colors I throw in other baits: Tilapia, Green pumpkin, etc... I of course use Big Bite (the 8" Kriet Tail Lizard is awesome) but you really can't go wrong with a lizard no matter who makes it
  5. I'm biased bc I work for Big Bite, but the Swimon has worked great for me. Regarding durability, I've had the same experience as Blue, lots of fish on a bait before having to replace it. One time a bluegill or something bit half of one of the tails off, but I kept fishing it anyways and it still caught fish!
  6. Interested to hear what happened, more interested to hear the results of the study, whenever that may be
  7. Hey, that's the guy that talked me into buying my Steez AGS rod!
  8. Got myself a nice 6.5lber off the dock this evening That's in my top 5 heaviest bass ever. It's getting harder to make it in my top 5, which I'm happy about 1/2oz queen tackle tungsten flipping jig in black magic, with a 3.5" big bite college craw in hematoma. Quickly becoming a go to setup for me!
  9. When it gets unsafe to cross the lake
  10. Grabbed one, I think... It said there was an error but they charged my card, so we'll see what happens
  11. By doing this and by reading lots of 3-4 star reviews, you'll be able to sniff out the fakes pretty quick. This goes for ANY product on Amazon. Another thing these scammers will do is change the product for a piece of junk after the product page is loaded with good reviews. Somehow Amazon allows this, it is extremely deceptive. The same applies to fleabay, scammers will buy accounts that have lots of good feedback then proceed to rip you off. One more thing - if a product page has a bunch of different products listed as variations, more often than not these are loaded with fake reviews too. Use the review search function and read the reviews for the specific variation you're interested in.
  12. That's interesting, it was the opposite for me! Had a lot of fun with the Sprinker this year. As far as 5+ers go, I caught a few. One on a 4.8" Pro Swimmer rigged on a Flashy Swimmer, one on a B5 line thru Swimbait, and one on the S waver 168!
  13. I got Lunker Lore by Josh Alewine, and already finished reading it. Highly recommend!
  14. Big Bite gift cards are 20% off on their website
  15. I've been trying out the G Finesse Hybrid Worm hooks lately, I really really like them.
  16. A few recent pickups... Lucky Craft SKT120, S Waver 168 to replace the one I broke off on a hookset, an XPS knockoff version because why not, a Mega Dawg, an Imakatsu Big Bats (subsurface "hunting" crankbait) and a Megabass Gong Jr (goofy looking wake bait). Stoked on all of these! I think the last 2 might have started a dangerous JDM bait addiction... 10XD for reference on the size of that Lucky Craft.
  17. The S Waver strikes again, this time the 200 size caught me a 5.6 pounder. Lots of big followers, this is the only one I could trigger
  18. Caught my 3rd largest bass last night! 6.73lbs on the S Waver 168. I also lost one that was so big I couldn't move it when I set the hook, who knows what that one was.
  19. I was referring to line rating, which is different than lure/weight rating. Should be printed on the same area of the rod
  20. I'd probably go with 16lb sniper, but it would be good to know your rod's power and line rating

Great point. I wonder if new colors are superior or if people just like new stuff? I wonder the same about some of the old school hard baits, are they outclassed by modern baits or just not as cool/new so no one uses them? I'm sure it's a combination of both, but I'd love to see someone fish with only old baits for a period of time and report back
  22. TW has College Craws on sale for $2.54 per bag
  23. @BigAngus752 I love those Cotton Cordell Super Spots. The 1/4oz on an ultralight spinning setup caught me hundreds of pond bass in college
