x2. I have a bungie spot so I can store it on the side if I am anchored and want it out of the way for a while. But generally I keep it across my lap. It comes in handy when the wind or a fish takes you somewhere you don't want either yourself or the fish to go and you can awkwardly paddle with one arm with the rod in the other (I'll let you figure that one out lol).

That is a disgustingly good price, I think I'm going to have to hold myself back as well though. I'm going to be putting together a jerkbait/topwater setup mostly for this coming fall and winter. My original plan was to wait and get a sub $100 deal on a Tatula CT, then wait for the Labor day sale and get a Phenix Feather rod to put it on. However that red accented SH model zillion would be veeeeeery nice on that rod. For anyone else with a little bit extra spare change...the Tatula JDM HLC 7.3:1 is also on sale for the same price.

I imagine a 6+ lb bass probably could crush a mouse with it's jaws. A squirrel would probably put up a decent fight though. I'm not sure if a bass has the mental capacity to plan this out but they could also probably easily grab it's tail and pull it under and drown it.

"Any day of the week" for a brand new out of the box one isn't true (believe me, I look almost daily). But I got mine for 70 bucks a while back, and will probably just wait until a similar sale pops up again to get another.

Part of me enjoys having the smaller sized fish here in new england. It makes that elusive 10lb fish that much more enticing/rewarding to chase after.

I fish from a kayak a lot and monitor the weather fairly closely. But I've watched storms pop-up faster than I would be able to paddle back to the ramp. A few summers ago I was on a pond a couple towns over from where I live, fishing the northern shore. From that spot it usually takes about 20 minutes to get back to the ramp. I watched a huge thunderhead build right over the town I live and watched the lightning. It was about 15-20 miles away and moving away from me so I wasn't worried. I checked my radar app and that was the only nearby storm I saw. About 15-20 minutes goes by with me fishing that shoreline and I start to see pretty dark clouds start to pop over the trees of the shoreline I'm on, and distant rumbles of thunder. I check my radar app again and it's pretty clear this time a storm is coming directly at me from the north. I paddled out from shore to get a better look at what was heading my way and had to make a pretty quick decision to haul a** back to the ramp, or ditch my kayak on shore (the entire shoreline is uninhabited and woodlands). I decided there was no way I could get back to the ramp quick enough so I laid down all my rods and got out on shore. Almost immediately it starts to rain and lightning starts to hit within a mile around me. It was pretty scary to stand there in the woods while this thunderstorm just raged around me but 10-15 minutes go by and it passes. I get back in my kayak and watch it move off towards the town I live in. Luckily the center of the storm passed about a mile west of my location and that's where most of the lightning was striking. Moral of the story: monitor the weather on sketchy days and always know what your plan of action is going to be.

Completely my fault. I was learning to service my own reels and was disassembling the magnetic braking system. Not fully understanding how the dial worked I forced a piece out and it broke. I called them up to order a replacement piece, fully expecting to pay for the part and shipping, and they sent it for free priority mail no questions asked. They even sent the entire braking sub-assembly not just the part I needed.

x2, at similar price points I like my Diawa's a little more (baitcasters), but Lews' customer service has impressed me in the past.

You'd probably still catch 2lbers on it easily but if I had one I'd use it in the wind. The 130 does a decent job in the wind but on really choppy days I don't think many other lures are going to grab attention in the waves than that 190.

The way I see it, there are two reasons to keep fish. To eat, or to mount. Replicas now-a-days are VERY good and will not deteriorate, and who wants to eat a 12lb bass....yuck. The only other reason would be to verify a record, but that's not the case here.

Didn't even see the zillions. Doesn't look like they have any models I'm interested in though. For what it's worth I've never felt in the long run a longer rod felt weird as long as it was light and balanced. I use the 7'2" Tatula HF as my jig rod and it feels perfect.

If you get a bad backlash with mono/fluoro it can kink the line deep into the spool and create a weak spot. I've had sunline sniper snap 20 yards from the lure on a weak hookset because of this. Unfortunately the only real solution is to be more careful when picking out backlashes as to not kink any of the loops, or just to backlash less (yea I know, we'd all like that wouldn't we lol).

I've got some of those and I like them but if anyone else is a giraffe like I am and has a long neck I find they leave a bit of the back of my neck exposed, which is a big no go for summer at least. I will still get my time with them in the fall with a hoodie. I'm going to get some of the Aftco ones before summer gets in full swing since I hear they are a bit longer.

I agree with the saying. Sure, sometimes it is used as an excuse but I honestly enjoy every minute on the water, fish or no fish. I enjoy the grind. I have gone sun up to sun down with no fish before and left having enjoyed the day. Like @Eric J said I just like being outdoors. I'm as happy getting skunked after a 14 hour day as I would be going for a hike. That being said when I go fishing I go with the mindset of catching fish or bettering myself as a fisherman. Some days when the bite is tough I admittedly will give up for an hour or two on actually fishing to try and learn more about the fishery. It's amazing what you can learn just going around and noticing where weedlines are, where rocks and stumps are, where the actual bottom deviates from the lake maps.

When I go out it's usually at least 8 hours. I do not burn easily but have had a few uncomfortable ones. I usually wear sunscreen but this year decided to get fully equipped with sungear head to toe. With the amount I plan on fishing going forward I'll leave tans for the fewer times a year I go swimming (not that I try to tan but when you are in the water sunscreen washes off and wearing long pants and shirts aren't really an option).

There are two types of fisherman...those that enjoy fishing, and those that enjoy catching.

You may not be a salesperson but seeing that sexy color and hearing "small run" is going to force me to make an order lol. I grew up fishing red and whites and my dad still loves them...actually come to think of it you may have just contributed to part of his father's day present haha.

Have I been doing it wrong or something? I always thought you went back over with the same number of wraps you start with? I usually do 7 both ways.
