  1. hey you caught something I think it was more wind burn. it has faded alot since last night. I has sun screen on, so most was wind burn, but I know I was really red yesterday.
  2. BANG, clankity, clank, clank... OH $#!* that = $$$$$$$$$$$$$ :'( That could be anything, a lower unit or something in the power head. Like a rod or a piston going. The only way to truely know what it is and how much is to take it somewhere to be looked at. I hate to say but I bet its going to be a lot of $$$$
  3. FishingPunk, atleast you had one on. Ok, I saw it you didn't. If I don't catch something this sunday I might cry :'(, and that's not a pretty sight.

they should hook him to s stringer then tie him to the duck blind and leave him there for 2 to 7 years
  5. sorry miss understood your post. Yes get the SS prop for the 50. It will be much better. Good luck on the PK, you already have the motor with the higher thrust, since the PK and Bigfoot are almost the same motor.
  6. I have mine mounted with a RAM mount and it always stays on. the only times i take it off is in the winter and when staying somewhere that I am not sure of. no need for some to walk off with it. I have had no problems with it staying on when traveling
  7. a 70 hp on that little boat. cool that has to fly. I have a 75hp on a 17'6" sea nymph and it runs good. mid/hight 30's on gps, & my boat is alot bigger than yours. What's it run? Nice set up.
  8. the high speed by pass means when you press the power button the motor will run full power and thats it. Your motor is working fine.
  9. If I am reading your post right. Your talking about an SS prop on a kicker motor, not main motor? right? For those that have never use a kicker. Speed is not an issue, thrust is. Most kicker motors will never get to optimum RPM, they will always have a heavy load on them. Kicker motors take a lot of abuse. The SS prop is to get the most torque out of the motor. I have looked at the merc pro Kicker next to a normal 9.9hp and the PK is made heavy duty. with a bigger yet small pitch 4 blade prop( 20% more surface area than a regular 9.9 prop), bigger lower unit & different gears. Like I said your not looking for speed with a kicker, you want the most torque to move the heavy load. Most guys don't spend the $$ for the SS prop. However on the web site and in their brochure the Pro Kicker 9.9 uses a 4 blade prop. That 4 blade is to big for a stock 9.9 lower unit, so I would go with the SS prop. I have two motors I use as kickers on my 17'6 V hull. Depending on where and how I am using them I have a 15hp merc and the other is a 6hp Johnson. I use the 15hp when I am going to a HP limited lake and need the power to cover water. The 6hp is used when the kicker will be used for trolling mainly. I will say one thing if you use your kicker a lot get it cleaned regularly since it will not get up to high RPM's carbon build up is an issue. And jet drive for a kicker? no way. You use a kicker for trolling and HP limited lake. a jet drive would not work as a kicker motor.
  10. 42 inches in not going to hurt. even the 45 inch motor will work. you can alway raise the motor up to the right depth. A plus of a longer motor is good in rough water you can put it deeper and it will stay in the water. I don't see any motor with less than 42inches. so I donly think you will find a 39incher

One of the biggest thing is you learn new stuff. Guys that think they know it all, don't. fishing in club with different people, with different styles ,k teaches you to learn new lures, techniques and places to fish. I have fished all my life and am pretty good at it. joined a club in 2002 and I soon found out I didn't know anything. I have learned so much in the bast 5 years it is unbelievable. I fish nothing like I used to, I fish so much smarter and better now. And I am still learning, I will never stop learning. If you want to better yourself in fishing than a club is a great way to. every year there are guys that join my club, that say they have fished all their life and when fishing with their buddies they always catch more fish. some of these guy, not all, but some. think they will come into the club and take it over, catching so much more than anyone else. usually at the first tournament reality sets in and they find out they have a lot to learn. Things that they would not be able to learn from fishing with their buddies. That is where a club helps you, if your willing to learn, you will
  12. if all your going to do is drift fish. then you do not need a TM, but if you want to move around quitely, in and out of cover then get a TM. I can not see fishing for bass from a boat with out a TM. A TM is a must. If $150 is your max, then look at a transom mount 12 volt TM. In BPS you can get a 30 pound thrust TM Motorguide or minnkota for $109 and a 36 Pound thrust for $150, you can also get a Bass Pro Shops Prowler 30 pound thrust TM for $99. I allways say buy the biggerst TM you can afford. If your looking for a small outboard check out http://www.smalloutboards.com/
  13. no matter how much or how little you use your batteries you should put them on charge as soon as you get back from fishing. never leave a battery with less that a full charge. Is you charger a smart charger? meaning it will charge the battery to full, then go on maintance mode, not over chargeing a battery? if so just plug it in and charge it will not over charge. I use onboard chargers in my boats and they are plugged in 24/7/365, the only time the chargers are not plugged in is when I am fishing.

You know that is not a new lure. Its made by Yum now, but the Dancin Eel was out about 15-20 years ago. he also had a Dancin craw. I still have the dancin eel and the craw is somewhere in a box of junk. never caught anything on either. when i saw these advertised as "new" my brother and me looked at each other and said " we use to have them years ago"
  15. Those old johnson 6hp are great little motors. They last for ever. I have a 1967 & and it runs great. I use it as a kicker motor. a few years ago I lost the hood for it, well to find another took a year. everywhere I went they had running motors, not parts most places said "those motors don't break" I'm sure they do, but the seem to run good for a long time. have had mine in the family, since 1980 and have not had one problem. On gas mix. 50:1 not 24:1. as for plug gap. don't know I just put new plugs in and it will run fine. The plugs I found to work the best are Champion. Infact mine has sat for 2 years. a friend borrowed it last week and it started on the 3rd pull and ran great for him all weekend
  16. what Way2Slow said. don't worry about the inpeller right now. figure out what the noise is. Changeing your inpeller right now is like trowing $$ out the window. Next time let me know so I can stand outside the window. I had said in a past post. I would have that motor looked at. My 75HP Suzuki made noises just like you said. I just kept running it, waiting till the season was over. when The motor blew the power head, my season ended early. The only thing I think you should be worring about is figureing out what that noise is and how to fix it, before you do anything else
  17. A 10 or 12 footer is fine, just don't over look one with a trailer. I know around here there are many 12 jon/ semi V's with trailers going for $500-$700 some with TM & outboards motors. You have a truck, so pulling it will not be problem, and if the pond or lake you fish doesn't have a launch ramp you can easily pull a boat that size off the trailer and slide it in the water. I had a 12 semi V and a few places I fish I would drag the boat off the trailer to the water. The trailer make life so much better than putting it in the bed of your truck, + a boat sliding in and out of a truck bed can put a lot of damage to the bed. Beleive me, when you come home from work and you can go fishing for a few hours. Its alot easier to just hook up to the trailer and go, instead of loading every thing in the bed of the truck. Just an idea you might have not thought of
  18. yes. the jumper goes from the pos on one battery to the neg of the other
  19. to keep that battery in good condition charge them as soon as you get home from a fishing trip, and depending on how low it is, you might need more that 24 hours on that 2 amp. is your charger auto? if it is I would leave it hooked up for 2-3 days to make sure it is charged 100%. My boats have onboard chargers on them. as soon as I get home from using them. they get plugged in and left plugged in. The only time that my chargers are not plugged in is when I am using the boats. this way the batteries are always good. the biggest thing is to put them back on charge fast as soon as you get home
  20. bassin1887 & Tom Bass, Thank you for the info on getting the lights to go off. The 3 times hitting the button did not work, but 4 times worked great. Thanks
  21. sounds ligh there might be shortin the pedel. Go on MG site and see where the nearest service center is and I would have them look at it. Infact go on mG site and asked them what to do. Tell them exactly what it is doing. They should be able to help. To me it still sounds like the high-bypass is stuck
  22. When was the last time the Carbs were rebuilt? I would have shop look at it before you do any harm to it or more harm to it. My 75 Suzuki made some weird noises like that just befor the power head blew. here one of the carbs leaned out. They neede to be rebuilt and I was trying to put it off till the season was over. The season ended that day for me. Spending the $$ to have a shop look it over and fix it or rebuild the carbs is alot cheeper than rebuilding the power head after its blown
  23. It it on High Bypass if it on high bypass and the switch to turn it on is stuck it would run in only High speed. if not and its new, return it. I have a MG tour 109 and have not one problem with it. 3 years now.
  24. These speeds your giving are they from a GPS or the boat's speedo? Boat speedo's are almost never right.
  25. If its a 4 stroke your in luck, can use it anywhere. The 75 will push it good. My 75 2 stroke ( Suzuki 75 Hp 2 stroke, 6 in jack plate) will top out at 36-37mph on the GPS. That is a 17'6" boat tournament rigged, 2 guys, 4 batteries, TM, 25 gal gas, gear, 36 gal water. On tracker's web site that boat with a 75 Merc 4 stroke will run 35-37mph and max hp is 90, so your close to max HP. that's good. Band new its $19,995 + tax and prep. and yours has full tops, 2 DF with GPS color, 2 downriggers and a 8hp Kicker. that is alot of $$ in extras. still sound like a good deal.
