Live Bait
Yesterday I supported the local fishing economy and bought two dozen shinners to try at a new peacock spot i found. I rig them with a size 1 Mustad Live Bait hook through the bottom lip up into a nostril. When I use bluegills for bass/snook I hook them right under the dorsal fin. These tactics seem to work freelined but I have not used a bobber setup yet. I find that most bass eat the shinner tail first and if not tail first they hit from the side. I give em 3 seconds to eat the bait before i set the hook.

rapala--husky jerk / x-rap ?
I fish the x-rap two ways: steady retieve w/ no pauses and a jerk jerk stop retieve which makes it walk the dog undewater. The hesky jerk I use a long sweep then pause for a couple of seconds reel up slack and repeat.

1st Peacock of the year
The past few weeks I have been scouting around trying to find a good lake that holds peacocks but I haven't been that successful. The peacocks in the canals are on fire but finding them land locked is a problem for me. Google Earth has been my new best friend for finding peacocky (my new word) waters. I fished a few culverts today and got skunked but saw a few p's and countless mullet. I am going to try the weston area for new spots and might go up to Tradewinds Park to see if i can catch some this weekend. If anyone in Broward or Dade has any spots and needs a partner just hit me up.

1st Peacock of the year
I wish my fishing skills were up to par with David Blaine's magic. If only levitation were possible then I wouldn't need a boat. :

1st Peacock of the year
After a horrible day at school I was itching to catch my first peacock bass of the new year. I headed to a canal I knew was holding some hawgs as I had seem them a week earlier but could not get them to bite. Well today I was throwing my favorite peacock lure a beat up to hell gold x-rap. I caught a couple dink p's and largemouths none picture worthy. After fishing in the rain for an hour and a half I was rewarded with this peacock which weighed in at 5lbs 11oz. This is my biggest fish this year and my PB for a Peacock Bass. This particular peacock put up the best freshwater fight I ever had.

Okeeheelee Park meet and yesterdays pond fishing
Well this spring break hasn't been that exciting for me but I have been doing alot of fishing. Yesterday I went to a local pond to get a quick fix and ended up catching around 20 bass total most were dinks and 2 were worthy enough to weigh. The first one I caught went 2lb 13oz and the next went 3lb flat. Today was also our little meet up at Okeeheelee Park also. Westpalmdude, AAA, Syfer420, and gtbehary all showed up and we had a fun day of grilling and fishing. It was great to meet you guys and shoot the ****. Adolfo caught the big bass of the day weighing in at 6lb 8oz a very nice fish to say the least. Well here are some of the pics westpalmdude and Syfer420 have better ones that they will post. 2lb13oz 3lb Adolfo with his hand in the beasts mouth Adolfo with 6lb8oz

The $150 Question...
Symtre 2500/ St. Croix Premeir 7ft M fast action. I got this setup for a friend and find myself using it more than him. Very well balanced and light. I own a 7ft M action Shimano Compre also and feel the Premier is more sensitive. Just my $.02.

Shimano Saraha or Pflueger President Spinning Reel
I have used a Pfluger President reel for a couple years now and only had one malfunction. Even though this reel is not intended for salt water use i brought it beach snooking with me and it didn't like that to say the least. Salt and sand in gears and anti-reverse broke. Got it replaced for free and have caught hundreds of bass since. I have used an old Symtre zero and a newer 2500 and I prefer the 2500 Symtre over my President. I like how they come with Anti-rsut bearings also. To sum it all up IMHO Symtre>President.

Live Bait guys
When using live bait I always freeline them. Shinners, shad, and bluegill are what I use if I feel like cheating down here in Florida. Hook them right below the dorsal fin so they swim to the bottom or through the nose if trolling. This is a great way to get young kids hooked up with descent fish.

Better than Power Pro ? ? ?
Suffix never had a problem with it yet.

Shimano at BPS. Oh NO!!!!!!!!
What is this reel trade in thing at BPS? Do i bring in old crappy reels that work and get store credit or something?

PFluger parts
Noone in my area will service a Pflueger reel. I'm pretty sure you must send them to the manufacturer to get them fixed. My president spinning reel had a few problems. After some serious snook fishing the anti-reverse broke but I was able to get a brand new one from BPS even without a receipt.

Baitmonkey took a bite, but the fiance told him he
I went to BPS the other day and thankfully I was broke. My friends on the other hand spent over $600

Your #1 confidence bait- vote here
My top confidence baits would be 6" stickbait watermelon red/purple flake and t-rig black trickworm.

Strange Fish
Yes we have Pacu in Florida. They are not a native speceis and are most likely only in our canal and lake systems because of bad aquarium owners who released them into the wild. I've only seen two caught before so I guess they are a little rare.

Snook fishing, Anyone?
I snook fish 2 times a week if I can. I am just fishing local canals and spillways and hook up ever time i go out. Its all about the tides. I'm down in Plantation a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale and can't wait to get my first slot snook of the 07' season.

My Snook !
Nice snook you got there. Definately looks to be 40"+ ~20lb or so. I have been fishing my local canals with live bait and have been catching alot of snook. Two days before the season opened I caught a 28" common snook and had to throw him back. No worries though I have a great spot for some fat snook. I'm just hoping for some slot snook to come through my canals straight from the intercoastal that are still nice and silver not dark like they have been iin the canal for a while. Heres a pic of two dinky fat snook my buddy and me caught the other day.

Strange Fish
The strangest fish I caught was a Pacu I hooked while fishing for Peacock bass. I wish I had a picture of it and its nasty teeth. They kind of look like pirahna teeth. I also caught a snakeshead once and that was one ugly mofo.

Chatterbait
I have only fished this bait for a few days but have been trying a few different types of retrieves. The only bites I get are when I am burning it just above the bottom or a steady retrieve that still just makes the blade thump. I got a couple new Swim Blades today in black/blue and another bluegill. I read somewhere on the forum that when you dont feel the vibrations set the hook and I totally agree. My first strike on the C-B was 5 ft from shore and I saw the bass hit it, but the second came from fishing offshore structure and I just felt the blade stop vibating and set the hook. The strikes are hard and fast so be ready with a good hookset. I prefer the 1/2oz over the 3/8oz even in shallow water. Tommorow I am going to a lake full of thick hydrilla to test the bait a little more. Hopefully I will get a fatty and some more pics. Check my post in Outtings for some pics of my first two bass on a chatterbait.

1st Bass on Chatterbait
Good luck to you Peterson I wish you the best. These are the two spots I tryed. #2 is what I used to catch the 2 bass but it doesn't seem to swim erratic rigged either way, just gives off good vibrations. The one I have/had today didn't have the brushguard, but this is the only pic of the blade i could find.
