  1. For me it's spoons. I used to love the old Johnson silver minnow, but I remember getting mostly Northern pike with it.
  2. Why am I hungry now?
  3. Does anybody use mono? I like it for light cranks, but I never read for it's use anymore. It's all braid to fc or straight braid/fc. Plus I have spools of it from my father. Is it really just backing now? I was thinking of using it on my spinner jerkbait/fluke set up.
  4. My wife needs to sell more houses and I'll be good to go.
  5. I'm sure we've all been there. Two guys with opposite styles or presentations. One wants to fish slow fineness as the the bite is slow and your partner wants to KVD it fast with a crank. Suppose it's the one in control, but could there advantage for fan coverage? Except for the complaints of a slow moving boat and we're doing this wrong. Any comments with an unhappy partner? Experiences?
  6. Yes he did. Thank you for hooking us up as I can't wait for my trip! Since this is my first time hiring a guide. What are the guide lines on tipping? Any tips other than having a Florida license and a cooler and a great attitude ? I figure on bringing some water for the morning as that's all I plan to fish.
  7. James Watson, just because he cracks me up.
  8. I am heading to Sarasota Florida in early April and was thinking of taking a day to bass fish. Does any one have a recomondation for a guide? I will need all tackle as I am flying down with my wife for a wedding. Also I am just looking for one day on a nearby inland lake. Doean't have to be the Big O.
  9. Former Marine and Gulf War vet.
  10. Not to mention that the spinner bail should be closed with the free hand before reeling so that timing issue is irrelevant. At least on spinners switching handle sides is quick and easy.
  11. Bought Trokar swimming frog hooks today and realized at home there are no screws to front mount the frog to the front of the hooks. I'm assuming I need to buy them to mount my plastics to them. If so what am I looking for?
  12. Why is it that I see TV fisherman using spinner reels with the lefthand dominant and using baitcasters with right hand? Apparently I grew up using my right hand with spinners. Am I goofy?
  13. I agree. The article makes it out as the new go to thing. Sounds good.
  14. So being the down time for us northern folk. Thought I'd ask about your success/experience with the Neko rig. Will this replace my Shaky heads and my Wacky approaches? Just looking for your input.

  16. My father passed this pass year and was an advid finesse fisherman. With his inheritance of plastics and my own I have some winter organization to do! Time for some more freezer bags.
  17. I had a blast with the whopper plopper. I had bass jumping clear out of the water on this lure. Landed some nice fish and had some laughs at the misses.
  18. Bait monkey bit me and I popped on a 6'6'' heavy medium fenwick hmx bait caster rod for $45 without shipping on ffo. I was hoping for 7', but I want to use it for a jig flipping set up. Tell me I'll be happy with it.... I fish southeastern Wisconsin. I tend to get more bites finesse fishing
  19. Nice fish. I got out last night and got a decent 17" and a few smaller ones down here in SE WI.
  20. I was on Powers Lake again last night and the surface temp was at 72 and the fishing has picked up. My previous post of 52 degrees was an error should of been 62. I noticed the water was stirred up a bit from the storms. Normally a really clear lake I think it was an advantage as well.
  21. Slonezp - I've been on Powers Lake which is South of Delavan and the water temp last week was 52 and the fishing was slow. I would assume the larger lakes like Delavan and Gevena will be much colder still. With the warmer temps coming things should pick up.
  22. Greetings all, I am new to this post and I had a question on OEM brand specific or other brands for 2 stroke synthetic oils. I have a 150 EFI Mercury and was wondering if I should buy a specfic oil for my motor or just go with Quicksilver synthetic at Wal-Mart for $27 a gallon?
