M14 Or Ar10
I'd have to vote for the SA M1A in the match version. First tactical rifle match I fired I won with a borrowed M1A. Wasn't going to enter at all (it was a side match at my IPSC club), but one of the guys talked me into it and loaned me the rifle and ammo. I've had a soft spot for the M1A ever since.

Army Food
During basic training (1966), we were fed C-Rations of undetermined age. However, the 4-pack of cigarettes included within were Lucky Strikes in the green wrapper that were so dry that they almost exploded when you lit one . The Ham/lima beans were pretty good as was the "beans & Weinies". The scrambled eggs were indescribeably bad though...

Lamiglas Excel Xl705 Glass Mh
Been thinking of this one for shallow/med cranks. Rating shows "crankbaits, jerkbaits, and topwater". Like to hear some ratings from owners or those that have used one.

Sunglasses - Costa Vs. Wiley X
I recently purchased a pair of the Costa 580's in green mirror and love them. I picked the green after emailing the factory and asked their advice for a lens that would work both in bright sunlight and overcast as these were Rx lenses and I just couldn't afford two pair. They suggested the green which is copper with the green mirror. Only thing was that I couldn't get the glass with "reader" lenses installed and had to go for the plastic. Great glasses.

Thinking Of Getting A Boat
For $15K you should be able to pick up a very nice used rig in either tin or glass. You have to ask yourself these questions: 1. Can my tow rig handle what I'm buying? 2. What kind of water will I be fishing? If you're fishing big water that can kick up I'd suggest glass. Smaller waters, rivers, then tin would be fine. Give every one that you look at a good going over. Have the engine checked out or get a demo ride to make sure everything is in working order. Good luck.

Anyone Catch Red Eye Bass?
Little buggers are all through Presque Isle Bay on Lake Erie. They will hit a lure twice their size, fight like the devil, and they're also darn good eatin'.

Bass Pro Hard Baits
I have several and they all catch fish. Haven't had any trouble with breakage. Have one that's a "Sammy" look-a-like that's become my favorite TW lure.

Fishing Glasses, What Do You Use?
I fished for years with "cheap" glasses. They scratched at the drop of a hat and the optical quality was never there. I recently took delivery of a pair of Costas (Man 'O War model) in the "Green Mirror" tint. This was suggested to me by the factory as being good for use on both sunny and overcast days. Bought them in a progressive lens with readers built in and I can't say enough good about them. The colors are fantastic and the readers perfect. They were just a bit above "pricey", but they are fantastic glasses.

Most Bass You've Boated?
Several times when I lived in Erie, Pa I had 120 fish days (smallmouth). LM not quite as good, but my best day was 29.

6.5 X 55 , 7 X 57
The 7x57 is an excellent cartridge with low recoil. Ammo for it may be somewhat easier to find than for the Swede (also a good round).

Help Deciding On First Bass Boat!
I second this response. Unless you're going to fish smaller waters that don't get riled up with boat wakes or bad weather, I'd look for a good used rig. There's lots of them out there.

Copper Or Silver Mirror Lenses
I have a pair of Costa "Man o' War" on order with readers installed. I emailed the factory for their suggestions on lens tint that would work well on both sunny and overcast days. They recommended the "green mirror". My eye doctor uses the same tint and said they were great. That's what I'm waiting on right now.

Considering A New Tow Vehicle
First, thanks for your replies. The V6 Equinox (264HP) is rated to pull 3500lb. The only factory hitch available is a Class II. From what I've been able to find/figure, my rig comes in somewhere around the 3500lb mark. After going back over the fine print in the brochure, it appears that the tow package does NOT include any extras like tranny cooler, etc. In my mind, not a good idea to risk it. I'll stick with my '05 PreRunner V6 a while longer......darn it

Considering A New Tow Vehicle
I'm considering a new tow vehicle in a couple of months. The one that's really caught my eye is the new Chevy Equinox with the 265hp V6. Drove one yesterday and fell in love with it. The problem is the factory tow package gives me some concern. The hitch is a 1.25", rated for 3500lb. My boat is a 98 Triton TR20, single axle trailer. The greatest distance I tow is 60 miles round trip, but usually only 14 miles one way to Kentucky Lake. I don't have any idea of the weight of the rig and whether or not this would handle it safely. It's a front wheel drive and I have some concerns about the ability to maintain traction on steep ramps if they're wet. I could use some advice here guys

Good Oldie
Same here. A friend of mine showed me how to rig my own. Our favorite worm to use was the Fliptail 6". Used three #6 Eagle Claw hooks all tied with a snell and threaded through the worm from tail to head using a large needle. We caught tons of largemouth on those.

Fishing Sunglasses
Thanks to all who have responded. I spent a lot of money over the years on El Cheapo glasses that scratch if you blow on them, and the vision quality was never there. That's why I prefer to get something that is optically correct for a change. Oakleys are out of the running. My optometrist sells Costas, and another one up the road sells Wiley X brand. I'm going to look at both but right now I'm leaning towards the Wiley X "Jake" model with polarized "Emerald Mirror" lenses. We'll see....

Fishing Sunglasses
The time has come to purchase a GOOD pair of sunglasses. They have to have readers built in (I'm farsighted) cuz I can't see to tie knots very well and even the screen on the HB is a little fuzzy. My local optometrist sells Costas and Oakleys. I'm not made of money so I can only afford ONE pair. Questions are: What tint would you use that will work on both sunny and overcast days?; Oakleys or Costas?; Plastic or glass? I've been using a pair of $100 Bolle's without the readers and if it's even remotely hot outside the **^%%$* things fog up something terrible. All suggestions welcome.
