Last time I fished a creek on some public land there were so many Gar in the shallow parts you could just reach down and grab them... If you don't mind the teeth!

Nice bluegill! A nice bluegill will put up one heck of a fight, makes them a blast on an ultralight!

Tastes like chicken

So this ned rig looks interesting, normally I don't have much luck with lures, I have caught all my bass with a crawler, double hooked with no weight. It's a very natural presentation that works well when the fish are aggressive or when they need to be finessed. So can you guys recommend something to start with (color, style) I checked the website out but I'm don't know what people are having success with.

Thank you. I'm in Greencastle, been out and fished deer creek fwa a few times this year, I try to get out to the strip pits in clay county to, good shore fishing if you don't mind the ticks and snakes!

Fellow Hoosiers!!! Howdy gents!

I fish a small pond way out off the beaten path occasionally. It's in a state forest, and half way around the pond is mowed, the other half is pretty grown over except a very narrow path at the edge of the pond. The experience with the snakes are they will be invisible until they are next to your foot, they will then shoot out from under you, making this fat guy jump high enough to make Michael Jordan proud! I had a small water snake hanging out at my feet at a strip pit I was fishing. I didn't know he was there until I went to throw back a small bluegill and it slipped out of my hand. That snake grabbed it before it hit the mud and scared the pudding out of me!

Dad got me started, and it was something we could enjoy together, even through my teenage years I enjoy fishing a public strip pit in west central IN and a small Fish and Wildlife area with a small pond a little ways east of there.
