  1. I really like the Christie Critter by Yum. I have used it for several years with good luck.
  2. Nice one!
  3. that's exactly what I told her...it doesn't get better than that so she may as well quit.
  4. Saturday, my son's 16 year old girlfriend wanted to go fishing. I practiced casting with her 3-4 times in the yard and explained how to set the hook. We went to a neighborhood pond near my house that I fish regularly for her to practice casting and then we were going to go to a better location. Usually the pond is good for a 1 pounder, or maybe two one pounders at most. She cast out and I was explaining to her how to use a nedrig when suddenly the drag started screaming. She reeled it in and this is what she caught....First ever fishing trip and first cast...she didn't even set the hook. 6 pounds 7 ounces. I told her she may have caught the biggest first cast bass in history.
  5. I fish with frogs 6 months out of the year and have tried everything. The cheapo, $3 scum frogs are darned hard to beat....they are not pretty, they aren't very good at catching fisherman, but man for some reason fish love them.
  6. agree. I have probably tried 15 different heads and those are the best thus far. Eagle Claw, believe it or not, makes a ned jig that is a close second.
  7. TRD Peanut Butter and Jelly ned bait on a Berkley ned jig head (I cannot remember the exact name of the Berkley ned jigs but they are awesome).
  8. I bought 2 dark sleepers a few weeks ago. I have not fished with them but an eye fell out of one and I have never even tied it on. I also bought a pack of 6 cheapo dark sleeper clones from Amazon. I haven't fished with them either but they look darn near as good as the dark sleepers. If I didn't know, I would think they were the same from a distance....If you closely inspect them, you can see the dark sleeper's color is air brushed. I hope to fish with the dark sleepers tomorrow.
  9. I buy mine off amazon or eBay. Sometimes you can find a good deal too. the 6 inch Spro in the Shad color is a great first swimbait.
  10. if you buy one, make sure you super glue the tail on.
  11. I don't know your budget, but if you can afford the Spro 6 inch swimbait, it is worth it. It is my confidence swim bait. They are around $20. I have swim baits that cost triple that but I still have more confidence in the Spro.
  12. Nope...I only fish small ponds. I have caught some pigs on large swim baits. I have caught 2 pound fish on 8 inch swim baits.
  13. 1. Ned Rig year round. Z-Man TRD PB and J or Coppertrues 2. Whacky stick bait. Weighted or unweighted, depending on the mood. 3. Bladed Jig. Either Z-man or Siebert. 4. Original Scum Frog - $3, look like crap, fish love them like no other frog. Try them. 5. A cheap-o Bass Pro Shops square bill. It dives 1 foot max. I have caught more on it than all other cranks combined. I have had it for 5+ years...It came in a bundle of 4-5 cranks. I don't think you can buy it outside of the bundle. I forgot about zoom fluke, pearl white....I give it honorable mention I guess but it should probably be number 5.
  14. Hello. Well, there are 2 versions. one version with a "plopper" tail and one version with a flat tail. I bought the flat tail version. it weighs a little over an ounce and will have a large profile in the water.
  15. Well, earlier I said that I use Triline XL and that is what I have used for years ned fishing. I started fishing an ultra clear large pond. I could see bass and could not get them to bite no matter what I tried. For the first time in my life of fishing more than 30 years, I tried braid with a floro leader. I caught 7 bass in the ultra clear pond after fishing it twice and not getting a bite using mono. I have fished other ponds since I have set the hook 21 times and I have put my hands on 21 bass. I never had that kind of success before using mono and I ned fish at least 50% of the time. I think I am now a braid to floro guy. I am using Sufix 832 Braid and 8lb Seaguar red label.
  16. The difference is Power Pro is a 4 strand product and Sufix is an 8 strand. Sufix 832 has 32 weaves per inch so not only does it have more strands which make it rounder, they are tighter wound.
  17. I just bought a Berkley beaver wake bait. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/berkley-beaver-wake-bait-20bkyabrklybvrwkblur/20bkyabrklybvrwkblur I also bought 15 jigs from Siebert a few weeks ago.
  18. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/berkley-beaver-wake-bait-20bkyabrklybvrwkblur/20bkyabrklybvrwkblur Picked this thing up from Dicks yesterday. It looks interesting. It reminds me of a fat whopper plopper with a super fat tail. anyway ever seen/used this lure? I had not seen it.
  19. I bought the smaller one on a whim. I have caught 4+ pound bass with it and some so small that there would be no way they could swallow it. Now that I think about it, I need to throw it more.
  20. Probably 15 years ago, I saw Jason Quinn at the Bass Pro Shops in Concord NC. He was buying a few rods/reels and they were the bass pro brand. I asked him about it and he said that he buys the reels/rods and they reimburse him. He said he fishes with the same stuff everyone else does and buys it in the store like everyone else. that was then...things may have changed.
  21. I bought the same reel about a month ago. I love it. It casts a mile, smooth, and seems to work well under load. enjoy!
  22. Nearly 1 year update....I still love the reel. It is a smooth and stable as it was the day I got it. If you can get it for sale during Black Friday, I would go for it.
  23. zoom finesse worm, #1 hook. 1/8 ounce weight.
  24. Nedrig...I throw them into places a jig would get hung up in...
