I usually just use the air nozzle on my compressor and blow it all out

6'-8" to 7'-2" MLXF Fenwick or Shimano Compre with a Pflueger President LE or Supreme (25 or 30) or a Shimano Sedona 2500 or 3000. 12-15 lb braid and 8 lb fluoro leader. A line setup with little to no line twist that Never fails.

Having owned only 2 quantums, and both of them being baitcasters, I have to say they aren't the worst reels I've ever owned. I actually love the design of their reels. Having said that, if it came down to it, I would always choose my Shimano. I say Function > Aesthetics.

One of my favorites is my 6' 8" MXF Shimano Compre for drop shot. They also come in 7' 2" also MXF. Right about $100 and worth every penny.

I agree with Lakeannaangler... A cardinal will get the job done, but for the price the presidents are a better reel IMO. Another reliable reel in this price range would be the Shimano Sedona. Not as stout of a bail as the President but every bit as good otherwise.
