I think the hula grub is very versatile... But you said on a Texas rig.. they both are good.. if I could only have one I'd take the hula grub. Its killer fished weightless t rigged.. in ponds , rivers or lakes.. glad I don't have to choose though

I've caught bass with the pre rigged worm as well ! That was awhile ago though... I had an all yellow one with a black line and dot on it that I would have gave 20 dollars for if I knew how many fish I was gonna catch with it.

Sure bud.. basically it comes down to the thickness of the bait.. have you ever fished the IKA? If you have then you'll know it's a very thick bait and using almost any other hook besides a EWG (excluding screwlocks) will lead to the bait coming off the gap and balling up at the end of the hook. The round bend simply won't hold the bait in place as well as an EWG Pictured here is an IKA with the 4/0 (3/0 is too small trust me) and you can see it fits perfect. With the angle.of the hook it is almost completely weedless fished just as shown. "Tex-posed "

I like 5/16oz swim jig with a kalins lunker grub outside of weed lines. SK has a strong and reliable one that's under 4 dollars.

I was doing something similar one time. Back home in Michigan, I was about 11 or so years old(13 years ago) I was bobber fishing with worms in a state park.. it was a marsh and had wooden walkways built through it for couples to walk around and enjoy. There wernt very many spots for me to fish... I finally found a spot and was catching a few bluegills... As time passed something nailed my bobber.. I started to reel in out of excitement. And hooked into a big fish ! It thrashed Nd gave me hell trying to get it up to the boardwalk. I finally got it up and had no idea what it was. It was dark and light brown and had an eel like body.. it was about 2 foot long and also had teeth, and made a weird noise when I had it out of the water. I was excited , and a little nervous. Because I had no idea what it was.. My step father was an EMT. And was sitting in an ambulance in the state park parking lot. I ran to him with the fish and his buddy chimed in and told me it was a "dogfish" . Which made sense to me cuz of the weird noises it had made. I know today that it was a bowfin , often mistaken to be an invasive snakehead.

How long does it take you to do these ? Pretty cool...

@Fishin' Fool it's heavy enough for casting. But I like using spinning gear... Rigged skirt up on a 4/0 extra wide gap hook . I don't have color recommendations because every one I've tried has worked... They're supposed to be killer on smallies ! But I don't know because I'm always fishing for laregmourh. And can say for sure that they are killer on largemouth. The first time I ever tried them I remember being mad at myself I only had one pack... they are getting hard to find ! I have to get em online.

Sure bud. I guess it's a poor reference really. Nothing to do with Donald Trump lol. But to do with actual playing cards. Many card games such as spades use a "trump" suit (which is always spades in spades) which is better that all the other suits no matter what.for example if diamonds are trump then the deuce of diamonds takes the ace of hearts. I think it's the GY fat ika. Spring through early fall you just cast (and it casts far weightless) , then pull up and let sink... Some days it's hard to make it back to the boat.
