  1. What's awesome about bass is all the different ways they can be had ! Not many fish like em.
  2. That is pretty neat... But so many baits out there I couldn't let go of to just bring z man. It is cool though. I like to bring a small soft pack that holds 3 small planos (jigs , terminal tackle, cranks, blade family etc.) and some plastics , scissors , multi tool, powerbait (crappie nibbles work on most panfish, and channel cat), some bait scent/dye and that can keep me busy for hours on end
  3. I'm jw what the rapala costs there. ,?
  4. I agree.. the money you spend on a car never stops.. even if it's self maintained. Gas , insurance, tags, parts . It's a never ending cycle.
  5. So much to know it's ridiculous .. the basics are a necessity though IMO
  6. Every one you buy is going to need maintenance. My cousin had a ranger. And he ran that thing everywhere.. he had it for a long time. But most rednecks (which he is) like to turn wrenches.. so he was always doing something to it.. What options come with it ? Have you tried to barter ? Take a mechanic or someone very handy with you before you purchase any vehicle. Ask them if you can take it to get inspected. This will lead you to buying a "healthy " vehicle. I advise you learn how to change oil/filters / brake pads and rotors, fluids, batteries, head/tail lights, and wipers(if you don't know how already). things like this will save you alot of money...
  7. A small jig . With a subtle trailer. In muddy water id go with black.
  8. My grandfather swore by those red shad culprits he sent you... Nice.
  9. Seen as how the montana state record is only 22.5 inches and 8.8 pounds...The odds of catching a ten pounder in Montana are more than slim anyway... Don't underestimate ponds... The Ohio state record was caught from a pond and was 13+lbs. And my personal best at 24" and 8.2 was taken from a pond no more than 3 acres.. You do the same bud.
  10. I resent this statement. Lol.
  11. If you were a pond owner you would know that proper harvest is 100% necessary for a healthy bass and forage population. Eating those bass keeps them from "going to waste". And actually taste pretty decent when the cook knows what they are doing.
  12. Hmm @soflabasser that's a valid point... I have no idea.. I'd like to know the real reason. Maybe one day we will.
  13. Thanks @Last_Cast . You rock. I'll definitely put it all to good use..
  14. Mine is like a 20 dollar Shakespeare I got at Walmart.. and it works great. I use crappie magnets on small jighead but often I'll throw a bobber and those lil powerbait chunks. Bluegill tear them up even the big ones..
  15. When I bank fish.. I usually bring 4 rods... One spinning I use for lightweight and weightless one casting for heavier and moving lures, And I bring a really small ultra light that I use for panfish if the bass are slow , and I almost always use a bluegill as bait on the 4th rod I bring for catfish. I'm never dissapointed fighting a big ol' fat ugly catfish.
  16. X2 on bluebassers last sentence. @the reel ess , the keitech definitely aren't any more durable and I prefer the GY over them. The chompers are more durable , Nd are cheaper too. But, they are also a little stiffer and come in a very pungent garlic smell.. so . If that's your thing they are worth a try, my favorite is GY in root beer with green flake and smoke with holographic. (I haven't tried one that doesn't catch fish tho) My favorite way to fish them is weightless too. I always do when I'm not fishing too deep. If need be throw a small split shot a little ways up the line. I have good success with these. As does everyone who tries them... All around this country..
  17. Yea @the reel ess the double tail hula grub is such a versatile bait.. I'm not sure if you use the GY, chompers, keitech .. but I've got some seriously nice ones on em and there was one caught in Cali with one that weighed 19+ here recently. So, I beg to differ about not a size bait ! Sure small bass eat them... I've had a surplus of adults chomp em too.
  18. I was intrigued by this fish so I did some research..It's called melanosis... And it's not contagious to humans (unknown from fish to fish) . You can touch the fish, eat the fish , do whatever you want with the fish.. you're safe. From what I read they (sceintists) believe it is caused from exposure to the sun... Anyone know anything else I'd be glad to know.
  19. I fish farm ponds frequently. They are perfect for my schedule. I caught 4 fish last year over 20" out of farm ponds, and one was over 24" . I caught the 24" on a rapala skitter pop In a oversized brown frog pattern One was taken on a weightless t rigged senko.. And the other two were taken on a #7shad rap in yellow perch. Don't over look the jig or beaver style baits either. Good luck bud.
  20. I read somewhere that bass with those spots indicate a healthy bass population. Could be totally false. Doesnt make much sense really. It's what came to mind though.
  21. I love fishing sand.. neko rig senko, shaky head , and any craw imitator such as jig or Texas rig craw.
  22. I'd rather do construction in the cold than In the heat ! I'd rather fish in the warmth but in the real world (for me) I spend most my time working... Not fishing.. so. Cold ain't so bad.
  23. I've never had a problem with the spiderwire..! I dig the camo braid too.
