Curly palomar ???
I only use the Palomar with braid..

Toad Baits
You can... And they do work.. but you should opt for a walking bait like a spook in those conditions IMO. Or a popper. The frog is for the vegetation because it's weedless

plastic bait sent
I personally can't stand that garlic smell everywhere . I get confused in the woods like is it time to fish or eat bread sticks. ? It gets everywhere. Like JJs ... It's a nice powerful dye but makes everything smell like garlic. Your bag, your truck your hands. No thanks. Strike kings coffee scent or even the squid scent most Japanese companies use are way less offensive to me.

Funny Fishing Stories
Lol what's funny about this ? Because fluoro has more advantages than just line visibility .

what size weight for tokyo rig?
Try the redneck rig. You take a brick and tie a floating worm to it. Attach the brick with 80lb mono to your truck hitch. Every so often just pull off in the truck and drag your catch to shore ! Haha really tho, I think tweaks and variations in rigs is a good thing. It keeps things fresh and exciting and if it gives a little confidence to us then it's a win for sure. A man with confidence is much more successful than a man without in more ways than one. I've become a big fan of the "jika" rig punching through some vegetation when bank fishing.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Everyone dogs that live target sunfish. I actually caught a really nice 3-4lber on it. It's the easiest bait I've ever walked in my life.

Spiderwire
Ok, I believe they are still a sight sponsor and we aren't supposed to bash companies in general I have the kast king Royale . Not the legend. It is my least favorite reel . That's a discussion for another thread. I don't think it's the braid. Good fishing to you.

Spiderwire
What reel are you using now ?
-
Spiderwire
Are you new to bait casters entirely ? If so, it's your spool tension. As I suspected in my first post. Be careful loosening it tho, gradually do it after each cast or you'll end up with a nasty backlash .
-
Spiderwire
I agree and wouldn't go less than 30lb either. I think his spool tension is too tight. I've used spider wire but it was 12 years ago when I was 14 and bought it because it looked cool. I quickly found out how much farther I casted on my spinning gear compared to the cheap mono I was using. I switched to the power pro before I started using bait casters as I grew older and had a little more money. I bought it for the hi-vis yellow and never looked back . I never had issues with break offs with the spider wire but i didn't put it to the test every day. And switched before I could afford a bait caster of my own.

Spiderwire
You can go lighter but the braid is more likely to dig in to itself on the spool. How long have you been using the bait casters ? What was it spoiled with before . ?
-
Spiderwire
I'd go to like 15lb on the spinning gear. Loosen your spool tension on the bait caster ? I use 40lb power pro on my bait casters and can cast very far. I doubt the diameter is much different but I'm sure you can find this answer out by looking at your box of spiderwire and comparing the diameter to other braids.

Dressed Vs. Un-Dressed Mepps Spinners: Thoughts On ?
I use them with the dressed tail almost exclusively. I have caught pike, bass, bluegill , crappie , and catfish on mepps spinners. Big fan even tho I don't use them much. If I only could choose one artificial lure this would probably be it.

2 piece casting rod
Looking for a 2 piece MH casting rod I can keep in my truck. No more than 150. Any recommendations?

Pliers
I suppose this is a topic for another thread. That's conduit, we use it in residential anywhere the wire is exposed such as a basement wall or outside the home or when the line is buried. . Ohio is where I live... And have to staple off all the runs along the joists , trusses, studs .. whatever the case may be pretty sure you should still "strap" or "clamp" that conduit off catt ?
-
Pliers
Yea what are you using to staple off the wire ? or nail off the boxes lol . Hammer is Definitely a tool an electrician uses. Unless you're going to say said electrician only uses the remodel boxes with the anchors. But you said wire a house... Which is done after the framing. Regardless, should be stapling off the wire along those runs. As for the pliers. I have many sets but tend to just use my Leatherman.

Lunkerhunt Phantom Spider

I just got my baitcasting reel. What should I know before my 1st cast?
Your spool tension is much more important than your brakes. Set the spool tension so that your lure will fall to the ground and not "over run" when you engage the reel. Set your brakes half way up and you'll be fine. Work the spool tension a little looser as you get more comfortable. The braid is fine, and preferred on my reels. Again, THE SPOOL TENSION KNOB is most important. If your spool tension is tight then you will not have any nasty back lashes. When you do backlash, they can be hard to pick out but use a thin needle to dig the loops out. I use a pick set I bought at harbor freight very cheaply and it works nicely. I've picked many out... I don't backlash much anymore unless I make a bad cast and hit an overhead limb while bank fishing. Also, thumb (or "feather" ) the spool especially if you think you've casted farther than you intended. The backlash comes from the spool continuing to rotate when the lure has losr momentum.. a trained thumb will prevent this. Definitely fun to use, you'll have a few before you know it.
- snook vs largemouth bass, which species fights better pound for pound?

LiveTarget Bluegill
I've caught a big one on the live target lipless too

Dragonfly Lures
Do you own any fly gear . Bass on fly gear is crazy fun. It would also be your closest imitation by far.

Frog blowups, too many misses
Are they taking your frog completely under ? If so then it's a gear issue (line, rod, lure) . Im going to assume they were just smacking your frog... Happens alot. You had the right idea by throwing the creature bait IMO. You located the bass ! That's the hardest part. Next time try a WEIGHTLESS plastic like a senko or a menace and drag it across the top and let it fall in those pockets. The weight from your T-rig could have been the issue since they were hitting the top water but not when you had the weighted creature. Edit : Sam beat me to it, but I wouldn't throw the senko wacky since you're fishing over the pads. Weightless T-rig for sure. Doesn't have to be a senko either. !

Funny Fishing Stories
A few years ago I took an ex girlfriend fishing with me... You know how some women can be... Impatient ?. So we went to a spot I knew had numbers and size... I was tinkering with other lures but wanted to give her something I knew would catch fish with little skill working the bait... I initially thought to hook her up with a weightless senko but her lack of patience proved this was not the way to go. So I tied her up a 1/8oz bitsy bug and a rage chunk. I told her just to cast it out and reel it slowly... Wasn't long she stuck a nice one and ended up being the nicest fish of the day. I took a nice ribbing about how she was the better Fisher that day. I let her have the win ?. Even tho it chapped me a little. Knowing I put her on the fish, supplied the rod, line, lure and told her what to do with it . I had to bite my tongue pretty hard because she truly believed she outfished me . And I guess she did ?

Rapala Jerkbait Selection
You don't need the latest and greatest. The original floater , countdown, and shad rap will get her done. Although I am a fan of the jointed shad rap, And many of their other lures! But that's just because I'm a "nerd" for the stuff. As I've been told by multiple women who have seen my collection. Do what makes ya happy but you don't need more than the first 3 I listed.

Strike King Rage Tail Craw Alternatives
Alternatives for the rage tail craw... How bout the rage tail bug ?! Seriously tho, keitech has a craw/bug called the crazy flapper and is by far my most favorite thing keitech has to offer. Not cheap or durable tho ? but a nice profile change and highly effective when they get conditoned to the rage craw at your spots. Trust a stranger on this one. Size 3.8, color doesn't matter.
