I Lose Fish On EWG Hooks
If you do well with offset hook then use that, I dont see the reason why not. For fluke maybe you can up the size to 4/0 5/0 depend on size of platic.

Pflueger President 6930 and Shimano Stradic 2500 Spinning Rod Pairings
I dont have any rod specific for any reel. Depend on what Im going to fish and what reel esier to take out. With that said I have more rods than reels rating from Lite to MH. The 2500 size is good all around reel which I use for anything from bluegill all the way to catfish. I spool my with 20lb braid.

Im struggleing deep water fishing
Here water temp still around 70 degree, I believe. Can you believe it was 97 degree that day when I left the lake. @ DVL is pretty deep all around, I think they built the d**n between mountains. I did tried some shallow spot with a lot of sunken tree. @ Perris the shallow area sometime unfishable, there are a lot of weed up to the surface. The fish were caught around weed line at 15-20ft deep. This CA drought is pretty bad all the lake is dry up some lake not even suitable to launch.?

New (to me) Truck
@HoosierHawgs. Yeah I check KBB, seem like he want at the higher end of the price (private sell price). The thing is Im not sure which model he got Working Truck/SLE/SLT. He is actually a new boyfriend of my wife close friend so I dont want to negotiate the price as much. And so far he is not in a hurry to sell. The truck got only 35,000 miles on it though. I own one american car before and it was so much problem with the car after a period of time, unlike japaniese car which more of reliable and cheaper in maintenance for a long run..

Used car
If you were near me. I bought a 1999 honda accord for 4500 a few years back. It got a salvage title from one accident on the front wheel and driver door. Everything elses are original and with only 60,000 miles on it, one owner to boost. Two year I dont have to fix nothing just regular meatenance and new tires. I decided to sell it this year for a truck.

Close Encounters of the 4-Legged Kind
I also had some scary/funny experience. My friend and I used to do ninja fishing for catfish at a golf court pond accross the street from my house. This golf court hold a ton of catfish a lot are small but there are some good quality like 10 lbs one too. One night @ around 2:00AM while we were fishing we started hearing some noise near by. We kept looking and looking while the fish also bite pretty d**n good. The noise keep coming closer and closer so I told my friend prepare to run. All the sudden, I heard that noise right behind me, I turn around and saw two raccoons came out from brush near by. We kept loughing ourself for awhile but those raccoons wouldnt go anywhere. My friend even took a closeup picture with one of the raccoon until I have to told him those raccons are dangerous if you got bitten or scratch you might have to go to hospital for vaccine. now those raccoon wouldnt go anywhere and tried to steal our stinky bait shrimp and mackerel. We tried with our fishing rod, flash light even abit lound noise until we give up ourself and walked back home.

New (to me) Truck
Nice looking truck, I wish I were as lucky as you. Im also looking for a truck here instead of using my wife's venza to tow a boat all the time. Im not a fan of American's truck but all used Japanese trucks price are so high here in CA. On the other hand a friend of a friend got 2003 GMC serirra 1500 extended cab very low mile and very good condition inside and outside. He wants 8700 for it. Im not sure if i should go for it.

Im struggleing deep water fishing
I might take my boat out again this monday to lake perris where the bass are in little bit shallower like 15-20ft deep to learn how to read structure more.

Snakehead spinnerbait

Im struggleing deep water fishing
@Raul, yeah that what I need to learn the most how to read the bottom. It tough, though since I dont get to go out on the boat very often and the demo really telling you nothing. I have watched some video where they telling you to look for but sometime I dont see nothing like that. @Catt, I use trolling motor(35lb). The way I do it to troll pass spot stop then cast. @Turtle135, That what my friend used, he got a couple of shot bite on that. @Ktho, that where we started, the south side where around those big rock @30-40 ft deep. We saw a few boil here and there but nothing last very long. We started of with top water but no take. We was gonna stop at small island but there were 4-5 boats there so we just move on. I believe the let new water in more than 15ft so far after open 5 months ago. I saw a lot of summerged tree around the cove. Man it suck a week ago he caught 10-15 fish there, this week nada.

Im struggleing deep water fishing
Yes, the cheap one elite 4X chirp, but im not good of reading structer just yet. Sometime I see big arch suspending or big log under water but still cant seem to catch fish. Depend, most of the time 20-30 ft deep, but I tried to cast all the way to the rock. I tried that too but like I said by the time the weight hit the bottom, my boat already up there. So i only got one chance of every cast. I have not tried drift with plastic, but I drift for catfish with cutbait before. That maybe a good idea to drift with carolina rig instead of drop shot.

Whopper Plopper
I tried 130 last sunday and got no fish. I think 130 is pretty heavy so when it land make quite a bit of noise. I remember at one point I cast too far hit the rock and drop into water I got a quick bite on that but cannot set hook fast enough. Too bad I didnt bring along my 90 to try.

Im struggleing deep water fishing
Last sunday we took the boat out to Diamond Valley Lake. It was my first time but my friend had been there a few time. A week before he had a blast caught like 15 fish in a few hour. This water is quite deep in DVL 30 - 100 ft deep where we fish. I only caught two dinks, one on drop shot and the other on keitech swimbait. My friend got a skunk. On the 1/2 oz jig and drop shot, it take quite awhile before the bait hit bottom, then my boat would move with the wind and tide, the line would stay tight and hard to make any action to the bait below. If i cast in front of the boat by the time weight hit bottom my boat already move past it and again hard to make any connect with bottom. My boat is 14' job boat which move quite fast in deep water. I always have this problem when fishing in open lake like DVL, perris. Any suggestion to help me become a less looser?

single rod and reel setup
Now again braid or mono, depends on your application. I normally use braided line on spinning but hybrid/copolymer line on baitcaster except one that I have bradied line on which I use that reel mostly for top water and jig in deep and heavy cover water. For all around, I think hybrid/coplymer is good enough. With bradied line if you fish with any type of plastic then you have to have leader, that another knot for you to be worry about. Your next question would be what lbs test line. I would say somewhere from #8-#12 would be good enough. Im not a fan of heavy line so I use #4-#8 hybrid/copolymer line. #8 zoyuri hybird has a strength of 14lbs mono which to me is good enough for all type of application. However I will mostly use #6 for plastic finesse.

single rod and reel setup
If I go for bank fishing and can only bring one rod with me, I alway bring my Medium rod Fast Action. I m not worry much about power of the rod but weight of the lure. I can cast anything from 1/10 oz up to 3/4 oz with M rod. If you fish in rough area where you have to pull the fish out fast then MH would be better.

Soft Plastics
If only worm, I would stick to a few brands in different type style and color. That way you have varities when fishing like get a few in fitness worm 4-5" type one brand in light(green pimkin/shad) and another in dark (blue/black) a few thick worm 6-8" also in light (smoke) and dark (grape)color. Then there senko may be a bag of light color and senko alternative like yum dinger in dark color. Another type of plastic that I recommend would be fluke type also in light (white pearl) and dark like jun bug. This way you got to try different type different brand. After you know which one work best then you can buy more in the same style and color. The lake in my area (Perris) the worm that works best has to has purple color into in no matter what time of year like roboworm in Margarita Mutilator color.

Fishing Alondra Park
City pond would be a little bit hard to fish for bass especially in Socal. BUT dont loose hope you might get some there. If you know how to fish with jig then use that. Otherwise any finesse would work like split shot, drop shot. btw I have never fish there but fish alot in cerritos and others a little bit south of yours.
