  1. Congrats
  2. Congrat, nice hawg there
  3. I’m not sure what to tell you, I didn’t / don’t have this problem with 3 of my 50 series, aldebaran mg7, chronarch 50e and only one left scorpion 1000XT. If the lock mechanism not working properly, it is better just replace it. I have kind of similar problem with my scorpion 70, the dial side plate is kind of loose that I can rock a little when close but not with curado 70. I swapped side plate between reel and same thing happen when I use scorpion’s side plate.
  4. this is normally I carry beside my phone and my vape (geekvape solo waterproof), or sometime a few bags of plastic and a bag of terminal tackle when bass fishing. I usually don’t wade as deep but those water skiers are killing me with wave that can get up as high as my waist. Fall or spring is fine since I can wear my breathable waders, but this time of year I go down with short cargo pants. I carry everything in my pants pocket but once awhile I would drop some bags without knowing it until I got home. I do have fishing backpack and I do have small vape with lanyard (lost Vape Lyra) but I’d rather buy something cheap but more effective.
  5. This is forum where one ask and another answer or comments. I kind of know that you don’t care about Original Poster, since you always answer in other topic with get Daiwa SV no matter if OP ask about shimano or other reels. I even think you are Daiwa representative and get commission every time your type that. Lol You should have start you own Topic not hijack others. I know there are many other forum members wanna read your comments.
  6. Err....... when did I say old Quantumm is cheap and good. But you have a very impressive collection there sir 6) TDZ, 4) Steez OG And 4) Px68-R. I think OP would love to have one of your reels.
  7. @WRB To me the topic is older reels that are good but cheap..... like quantum Abu Garcia. And now a lot jumped in with their collections some over 200, some hard to find. BTW OP hasn’t responded to any of the comments here at all. He might not interested in old reels or your guys scared him out with your CHEAP old reels lol.
  8. Thanks I was considering that too. I don’t really bring a lot of tackle with me, just one setup and small box of jig, plier and a couple bag of plastic. The most important thing is my Vape lol and it might not be as convenient if I have to grab that from behind. I have go pro on my chest sometime.
  9. Thanks ordered a few, which one is your, btw?
  10. Do you use one? Which is good budget, not too big and don’t care much for water resistant. I just need one that fit for phone, Vape small jig boxes or 2-3 packs of plastic.
  11. Let’s kidding aside. light tackle, light line or light rod? I have caught quite a bit of bass up to 4lb and catfish 7-10lb on my ultralight while fishing for crappie, and I do occasionally use my BFS setup targeting bass and caught up to 8.5lb bass and plenty of catfish. As you mention yourself, line broke off easily and no control on bass when they pull into some structure, so if you targeting big fish with light/ultralight especially from shore, please be prepared for the heart broken. I understand your feeling l of being in SoCal with a lot of ppl fishing in city park lakes. If you wanna give “light tackle” a try, why not? You don’t really need anything special, light line can be as light as 6lb copolymer or 8lb FC. Use 8-10lb braid main line, find a good light or ml rod, soft tip with some backbone. A lot of L/UL sold in big box store typically pretty noddle and not “suitable” targeting big bass. Your exceler LT should be good for that or you can even go down to 1000/2000 series to save some weight. This setup should be able to cast weightless 4-6” worm or even crappie jig easily. My ultra finesse setup is Shimano Crucial 6’8 ML 1/16-1/4oz. I use this rig for both bass and crappie. My ultralight setup is Majorcraft speedstyle S632UL 1/64-1/4oz also good for bluegill crappie and bass (this rod is solid soft tip with plenty of backbone for bass) You need light smooth drag when dealing with bass, soft tip but not noodle to be able to keep pressure especially when bass jump and backbone to be able to pull it out if needed.
  12. I think we are gonna stay and fish around Tower Park marina. This is a short trip only 3 days and I’m not hoping to get to fish much. It mostly my wife and her friend trip. I think I’m gonna pack only a few, one for crappie, one for bass and one for my wife catfish/striper. I might be able to sneak out at night or early morning bites.
  13. My wife and friends gonna be going to Delta river and need some insight fishing spot. We are gonna be staying at Tower Park in Lodi. In the whole group only two have some experience, the less is not so much like my wife. Those will be bait and wait type I guess. I’m not sure if I should target crappie, bass or stripers. I’m not gonna bring a lot of setup just a few so need info and some good spot. We will only have a pontoon boat and ski boat, no fishing boat no fish finder. So I guess fishing from boat is out.
  14. I guess @Team9nineis right about using 3-5lb braid instead of 8-10lb. For that I’m using 4 and 6lb nanofil on two of my rig. It is not really regular braid but fused braid? It cast better than braid, sensitivity is also very good. Im also trying 6lb Fins windtamer on another rig which so far so good, cast not as far and still get tip wrap from time to time. I plan to convert all my spinning ultralight to nanofil.
  15. Nanofil will not hold water.
  16. I remembered one time I spool j-braid chartreuse on my curado 50. Man on man that white turn yellow-greenish tint in one spot.
  17. What size? On casting or spinning? I have 30lb on my baitcaster and it is okay, soft and quiet. The color is faded easily but same as PP. I have smaller one on spinning but don’t like it, a lot of tip wrap and harder to deal with windknot. I like Sufix 832 better for both casting and spinning.
  18. As @WRBmentioned Spinning give you much more fun to catch fish compare to baitcaster, but most importantly presentation. Spinning give better shaking presentation compare to baitcaster. I found myself converted to spinning, from hate to use it (haven’t touch it for years) now I have 5 in regular use from UL to M. I mostly use spinning for UL and finesse fishing like Neko, Ned and 1/16-1/8 shakey head. And another thing he is right, it took me a couple good minutes this morning to land this 2-2.5lb bass on spinning. as a side note, I will fish weightless worm Texas rigging it on baitcaster but wacky rig it on spinning.
  19. Ive only tried a pack, it catch fish but not as good as SENKO. It might last a little bit longer than senko but not by much. I mostly wacky rig it no weight. I don’t mind if I can get it at discount price but not full price.
  20. If you like Fireline, stay with it. I converted most of my Ultralight spinning reel to Nanofil 4-8lb which help a lot in casting light lure. For bass or float rig, I like 8-10lb Sufix 832.
  21. Maybe a bent spool shaft? I have read a lot about reel cleaning/maintenance but hardly anyone mentioned to clean the spool shaft and inside pinion gear hole. If too much oil/grease in there or on shaft can effect the rotation. I might be wrong but that what I usually do when oil the bearing.
  22. Anytime man, there are plenty of catfish and crappie here that you might enjoy. I think you can do a tent at campground too, there is bathroom to use. It is a lake front campground that you can fish from Dock all night (without resident).
  23. I checked campground yesterday and all booked until Fourth of July. We have our own firework and that campground is the best spot to watch, unless you are in a boat. My day off is Tuesday-Wednesday, and I work night, otherwise I’ll have you here fishing for those crappie and catfish.
