  1. On lakes I can see the wide wobble being necessary to cover water and draw strikes from afar, but in narrow streams I wonder how much difference it would make in terms of reaction strikes. I guess the reason I’m asking is that I see quite a good deal more people throwing cranks than paddles, I’m wondering if this is simply a result of the general bass fishing industry being more geared toward largemouth due to them being more widespread or if they are really more effective? I find them sort of a chore to retrieve ultimately, and repeatedly casting/retrieving paddles much smoother and easier. I also think they look more natural but what do I know I’m not a fish ?
  2. https://majorleaguefishing.com/angler-columns/kevin-vandam-the-truths-about-water-temperature/ Here’s a pretty good read on this from KVD.
  3. Yeah man I think the whole water temperature thing may end up being a bit overstated when it’s all said and done.
  4. It seems the general consensus is that daylight hours guide their fall migration pattern and feeding patterns, is it possible it dictates their spawning behavior as well? With these erratic weather patterns and yo-yo water temps, I find it a bit unusual that they consistently spawn in waves within the same 1-2 week window year after year regardless of the water temp.
  5. I assume slow sink is the heaviest/most versatile but not sure. Thanks!
  6. I will say that the Armilo defiler works beautifully and is some of the best line I’ve ever used! Incredibly smooth and strong, very resistant to line twists as well.
  7. No worries y’all, I have thick skin! I know I overanalyze quite a bit and ask a lot of questions, sorry if it gets tiresome I’m just trying to learn! Lots of good knowledge to absorb here.
  8. Obviously this is going to vary by region, there are certainly Shad in my small river in southern Ohio but not in abundance in the stretches I fish. Yet for some reason shad patterns have consistently produced for me, perhaps because they are more visible? I have several chub/stone roller patterns ranging from dark brown with a gold belly to light brown with a translucent belly, I haven’t caught quite as many fish with them but now I’m wondering if perhaps this is because I haven’t had the courage to put down something that works so well! I have heard people say that darker patterned swimbaits are more effective this time of year, do you generally find this to be true or are Shad patterns more reliable for you?
  9. Yeah, this makes sense, thanks. I should mention that I am using this rod exclusively for treble hooked jointed swims like glides/bull shads, not single hooked. Does that change any of the above?
  10. So you’re saying that while the IRod can effectively cast 2-3 oz baits it is better for single top hook baits that require heavy hook sets? What is a softer rod that is capable of casting these baits but moderate enough to let the rod do the work in sling shotting them and keeps the trebles pinned?
  11. Interesting, even for finesse fishing small rivers braid to fluro? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002YDZA1K/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just ordered, this it?
  12. I like the idea of electrical tape but in these hot summers I can see it becoming a gooey mess on the reel. Is there any alternative?
