  1. Yep. They’re only $89 normally. Or, I’ve gotten them for that, so it’s not quite as low as I was hoping. Thanks though!
  2. Thanks! Unfortunately, nothing I'm interested in qualifies. Would have loved to pick up another Daiwa Tatula CT for %20 off, but that doesn't look like a possibility.
  3. That’s who I got my Tatula CT from. No issues. How do you tell which items it applies to? Is it anything over $25?
  4. I would, but it has been done. Plenty of YouTube videos of it out there. I’ll see if I can find one and link it for you.
  5. My ML is an Ugly Stik Elite. Bet it can lift a gallon. Hahaha!
  6. I run 15lb braid with a leader that varies depending on what I’m fishing. Usually mono from 6-12lb test.
  7. I’d love to get involved!
  8. At what water temperature would you quit throwing topwater baits? Keep in mind that the bodies of water being fished don’t have Shad. Main forages are going to be baby bass, bluegill, and crawdads. I’ll be fishing from the bank as well. I’ve got a day next week to fish and don’t want to waste time throwing a topwater if it’s just not going to happen. However, I love throwing topwater and tend to do so even when I shouldn’t (middle of the day with bluebird skies). So, if there’s any excuse to throw them, I’d love to. Thanks!
  9. I posted some research I read a while back about musky and their ability to shake lures that were stuck in their mouth. Long story short, they were almost always able to shake the lure. However, that study was done with crankbaits with two sets of trebles. How would that translate to a single hook like a jig in a different species? I couldn’t tell you. But, if I had to guess, I’d say the bass has a decent chance of shaking the jig and going on about his business.
  10. I’ve got 15lb braid on my spinning gear and have no issues catching fish with it. However, I’m not using high vis braid. Mine is moss green Power Pro. Sometimes I have time to tie a leader on the night before, and sometimes I don’t. So, I figured the moss green was the way to go. I can fish it without a leader and have confidence that it looks like just another piece of grass underwater, or I can tie on a leader and feel like it’s even less noticeable.
  11. Doesn't appear to be any cup on the nose of the bait I found. Is it possible you're thinking of something else?
  12. Appreciate the suggestions guys, but I’m not in the market for a rod specifically to fish this bait. I’d upgrade my MH combo (BlackMax combo right now.) before I’d drop money on a rod I’d rarely fish (punching/heavy duty flipping), since I’m strictly a bank beater.
  13. Thanks! I’m familiar with how to work a Spook. Use them quite a bit in saltwater.
  14. I think that’s the poppin’ image you’re thinking of. This one has a rounded nose, no cup to it.
  15. It’s the brown one. The size 40 they sent me was the ‘hippy color’ and size 30 was chrome. I would love to fish it, just to see if I could actually get something to bite a lure that big. Unfortunately, I don’t have a rod that will throw something like that. Well, that’s not entirely true, I do have a rod that will throw it, but I’m not dragging my 10’ extra heavy surf rod down to the lake just to throw one lure. I would wear myself out 30 minutes throwing repeated casts with that thing.
  16. Got the lures today along with a luggage tag and a bunch of stickers. My god! That 50 is ridiculous! Definitely going to sell that one. The other two might see some use this summer. We just had a heck of a cold front run through here. Seems like it may shut things down for quite a bit. Only caught one today in 3 hours.
  17. A knockoff? Awesome. Thought it looked way too new to be from a company that went under that long ago. Oh well, I’ll toss some new hooks on it and not worry about losing it.
  18. Thanks! Not looking to buy any more. Just wanted to know how to fish it and what type of lure it was. Now that I know it’s the same as the Heddon Spittin’ Image, I can just use that as a reference. Would it be safe to assume that it’s an older lure, in spite of the fact that it’s in mint condition, since it says Excalibur instead of Heddon?
  19. Went fishing today, in spite of the crazy temperature drop and 20mph winds, and didn’t do too bad. Highlight of the day was the lure (looks brand new) that I was able to snag out of a tree along the bank. I did a quick Google search on it, but all the results I get seem a little odd. So, it’s marked as a saltwater Excalibur Spittin’ Image, but everything on Google says those are made by Heddon. Anyone have any information on these lures? Like what type of bait it is, how to fish it, price, etc. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  20. I use the same ones as the top picture. Never weighed a 10lb bass, but they have worked fine on every saltwater fish I’ve ever caught and some of them are significantly larger than any bass you’ll see (40-50lb skate a couple of weeks ago comes to mind).
  21. Believe it or not, I most frequently fish that pond with one of 3 baits - frog, whopper plopper, or popper. I upgraded the hooks to saltwater versions of the same size trebles. When they get stuck in pads, which they inevitably do, I just yank them out. Half the time they get slammed after I do. With the rat, I’d be more concerned about stuff getting up between the segments constantly and messing up the action. So, I’ll probably stick to fishing the rats at a local lake and pond that have less cover on the surface of the water. The MH has 50lb braid on it already, so it sounds like I’ll give it a shot and see how it works out. Shame they don’t be here by Friday. Someone got a day off work where daycare is still open. Plan on spending the whole day at the lake, beating the bank.
  22. Sounds like I’ll be putting the 50 up for sale from what you guys are saying. I’m not about to buy a whole new set up just to fish one bait and then, inevitably, buy a bunch of new baits because I have a new rod that can throw them. Heaviest rod I’ve got is a 6’ 9” MH. I usually run it with 50lb braid for my frogs, jigs, and anything else I want to throw in this local lillypad choked pond I fish.
  23. Anyone have any experience with these lures? Interested in both good and bad experiences as well as tips on how to get the most out of them. They were definitely out of my price range, but I was lucky enough to win Spro’s giveaway today and will be getting one each of their 30, 40, and 50 sizes.
