  1. That’s pretty vague. My small lakes are 50 acres, a lot of the southern guys would call that a mud hole. My big lake around me is 450 the southern guys would call that a pond. If they around either size size I explained I’d put it up front. My reason for this suggestion is the lakes are small enough the you can find a ‘spot’ on the map and get pretty close to it without having the fish finder at the console then drop the TM and get on top of it once you get close. Wrong. The way a former member on here who is a beta tester for Humminbird the pixel size stays the same. As you get a bigger screen those pixels get stretched (my terminology not his) thus making the picture less crisp the bigger screen you get. I’m not familiar with the Solix units but with the Helix units the 10” Helix gave you a better image (more crisp) than a 12” Helix.
  2. There ya go. Patience grasshopper. ?
  3. I completely disagree
  4. If it’s any consolation it’s back to low to mid 30’s by next week.
  5. The UP was 46 today. You didn’t get any of that?
  6. ? mid 40’s and sunny today! Tomorrow 50’s scattered rain. The snow should be almost all gone within 24 hours. Thursday upper 60’s scattered rain and very windy, so hopefully that’ll eat up a bunch of ice!
  7. How big are the lakes you fish?
  8. I believe there are adapters available so you can hook any unit to the proper Minnkota TM but that’s beyond my pay grade to say for sure.
  9. For the sake of argument let’s say it’s a long nosed gar. ?
  10. You’ll be happy with the Garmin or the Humminbird. You really can’t go wrong. Another important aspect that we haven’t talked about is customer service (if needed) I’ve heard nothing but good things about both companies.
  11. It’s been fun watching your progress and modifications along the way. You definitely don’t do things half a$$ that’s for sure. Good work!
  12. Read, read, and read some more. Learn about the options. Go to the store and play with them some more. I recommend it again because like you saw first hand everyone you ask will give you a different answer. The more you learn the more comfortable and less confused you’ll be.
  13. Apparently my Dish guide lied to me last week and to my surprise I come home and see there’s a new episode on. I looked ahead to next week and there’s another new episode on then too! Zona is still on, the sun is shining, forecasts call for a high of 67 Thursday, I’m going to buy a Poweball ticket!!!!
  14. I guess that reference wasn’t subtle enough. I figured it would fly over many heads. I’m an Ike fan it’s no secret and I laugh every time I see that video of those two. 15. Was this angler not a part of the community?
  16. I was thinking the same thing
  17. I’m intrigued, I can’t wait to see what they have to say about what fish this is. I thought for sure @Team9nine would’ve had some input.
  18. The Garmin Striker 7sv is discontinued because of the Striker Plus units replaced them. The he difference between the Striker and the Echomap units are the Echomap units have pre loaded maps. The Striker units you have to create your own maps using QuickDraw.
  19. My Walmart did have tubes on sale too but I passed.
  20. Mine usually don’t. I had my sister go to our closest one no dice. We went to one about 30 minutes away and I found that. I also found an Abu Garcia hat for $8 which was a huge score for this Abu fan boy! ?
  21. First time to Walmart in a few years because I’ve read that they have their fishing stuff on clearance. The only I found was a Skeet Reese spinner bait rod on sale for $45. I’ve had good luck with their crankbaid rod and jig rod so I figured what the heck.
  22. I don’t know enough about Lowrance so I won’t comment on them. The transducer that comes with the Garmin Echomap units can go on the transom or the trolling motor. With Humminbird you’d have to send the transducer in and swap it out for a trolling motor transducer.
  23. I hope so. I’m ready to pull the boat out of hibernation and bring her home. I’m also ready to get on the water, tired of looking at frozen water.
  24. You think all that ice will be gone in two weeks? What are your overnight lows going to be? Our temps will be a little cooler than yours, but we are getting rain this afternoon and tomorrow. A few days around or just above freezing and a couple days in the 40-50’s and they’re forecasting Thursday with a high of 63. That’s a ways away and will likely change but encouraging nonetheless. After that back to just above freezing. If we can get all this snow gone today or tomorrow, then the sun can start working on the ice. The sun is close enough now that you can feel the warmth of it so even the days where it’s around or below freezing it’ll still do it’s job on the ice.
