  1. your on your way to a limit!
  2. yes. i own a b now but if i came across an A in a model i wanted id jump on it. not that big of a difference.
  3. somehow my local tackle shop got their hands on some of the new expride b rods. so ofcourse i had to go check them out. they are SWEET. the monocoque handle makes them lighter, guides are the same cosmetics are similar but they are more of a matte finish. i had to have the 7foot 2 inch medium light spinning rod. the action is a little stouter than the previous 610 but definetly lighter than the 7foot medium. for me it should be a great drop shot rod . light enough to handle light line and small hooks but with enough backbone to set the hook on a texas rigged roboworm.would i trade in my older exprides to replace them with new ones? no not that big of a difference . but for the price man are they hard to beat.
  4. I figured it out guys. it was very simple once i realized i had the adapter in the paper work that i needed to connect the ethernet to the depthfinder. of course when i got the motor mounted and was testing the lift and deploy i got the transduecer cable caught in the pinch point and crushed it, but thats life when your stupid you cant have nice things. luckily i have a good mont before the fishing starts to pick up. hopefully i can get it fixed by then.
  5. ok guys im losing my mind trying to network my ultrex and 2 humminbird helix units. the ultrex , one cable goes to the connector and then into the transduecer port? (built in mega di) then the ethernet cord to the box? do i then need an ethernet cord from that unit to the box? . I know the back unit ethernet cable goes to the box. the heading sensor goes to the box but the front unit is confusing me.
  6. one thing you need to consider with a spinnerbait is they work best when they are hitting something. run them into stumps branches, weeds whatever. when the bait makes contact with things and the blades flutter that is a big trigger. now at times smallmouth will slam one burned over their head in open water but largemouth really like the bait to bang into things.
  7. shimano expride 7ft medium. shimano stradic 2500 15pound diawa x9 braid 10lb sniper leader. or megabass orochi xx shakeyhead same reel and line.
  8. i fish electric only lakes and use that exact battery for my 80 pound ultrex and it will run for full days of fishing and still have charge left. i also have a 48 volt for my torqueedo and run wherever i want on it. 100 ah lakes are about 3500 acres.
  9. red eye shad. spro aruku shad. i use others but these are my work horses. tic them through the grass in early spring and rip em out when they get stuck.
  10. all three lakes i fish most are about that size. they have the usual spots that everybody can see on the map and we have all fished them for years.these spots still produce because they are good spots. but lately especially in tournaments ive taken to fishing more subtle spots that may not have as many fish but the fish that are there arent constantly bombarded and i usually have them to myself.
  11. i have an older cashion elite 7ft med lite spinning rod that i like. was thinking about picking up the newer model in a casting rod. good to hear some feedback.
  12. what do you use the mccoy for? i was thinking of trying some. for fluoro i like invisx or sunline sniper.
  13. do your lakes have weeds? in alot of northern lakes you dont have to fish much deeper than the deepest weeds. the fish will relate to those weed edges all summer. the trick is figuring out which weed edges. weeds on STRUCTURE is a good place to start. for instance a shallow bar that reaches our with deeper water all around. the weedline on the end of that. or on a tapering flat that at one area buts up against a steeper drop. one misconception, logs , rocks , stumps whatever are defined as COVER. changes in bottom elevation or steepness of drop are STRUCTURE. that is all explained in the book you were recommended.
  14. yes thats exactly what the place i was describing would look like.
  15. yesterday when the wife got home from work i was on the computer. she said "what are you looking at." i said im googling the life cycle and spawning movements of gizzard shad. she looked at me, shook her head and said," its better than porn i guess" . fishing is my first thought in the morning and the last before i go to sleep. plus a million times in between. its not normal.
  16. to me a ditch is a deeper cut in a point or flat. theres a point on one of my favorite lakes that runs out about 100 yards slowly tapering to about 30 feet.if you look at the map though you notice a section like a narrow horseshoe that starts getting deeper only 20 yards or so out. when the water on either side is 8 feet or so the water in the ditch is 15 and so on. to me thats a ditch. and the fish move up it to spawn in spring and back out after the spawn. it has grass on both sides too.
  17. i think youll be happy with the 72 expride . they are so versitale i have 2 of them in the boat at all times because i can do so much with them.
  18. riot tungsten minima, outcast stealth fieder.
  19. yeah my wife knows when i havent been fishing enough. she can tell by my mood. sometimes she will "you need to go fishing for a couple days".
  20. i know and it may well be.if he doesnt mind spending a few bucks more. thats what i would probably do but some people have a firm budget.
  21. same as catt but a 1/0 . i will be trying the owner weedless neko this year too. we will see.
  22. i like the expride also but thats technically over his price range. i have a couple zodias also and i like them in that price range. diawa tatula is good too.
  23. back to the original question , you will be fine with a medium.alot of people me included use a medium light because its easier to make subtle movements of the bait without lifting the sinker.you can still do it witha medium you just have to pay aliitle closer attention. the more you use the rod the more in tiuch you will be with what your bait is doing.
  24. i stunk last week. and my dtl picks have been bad both weeks. ive been trying to use up some guys and still score decent. didnt work great. i got a bunch of hammers waiting though.
  25. its a time situation. i can cover more water and hopefully find some active fish with the power presentations. if i slow down with finesse then i wont get to cover as many spots. now if im convinced there are fish where im fishing i will slow down with a dropshot ned etc. however i will say with the amount of bait in our water relying on a feeding bite in summer is tough. sometimes you need to upsize your bait and make it move to get a reaction bite.
