Too Shallow For Fishfinder?
The Humminbird 140 does not have any kind of Imaging function. It has Side Finding which will give you fish symbols with distance indicated horizontally when you rotate the pole. It is traditional sonar (somewhat cone shaped sonar pulse), not the Imaging technology. If you want true imaging that shows what the bottom looks like to the sides, that takes many more dollars for a unit with Side Imaging, Sidescan, or SideVu--depending on the brand. Side Imaging works as long as the transducer is not buried in the lake bottom. Sidescan takes more depth, and SideVu is too new to know what its shallow water capability is.

New Fish Finder, Si Or 360, Bow Or Console?
MSRP for the bow 360 transducer is $1500 A unit to support it will be in the $1000-$2400 range--screen size is the price difference. I have a bow 360 connected to a 1198c SI Combo at my bow. The bow 360 is designed to clamp to the upper shaft of a foot control Minnkota trolling motor. Transducer Shield and Save has an adaptor for Motor Guide trolling motors that takes up the shaft diameter difference--I have that setup.

Is This Ok With Mounting The Transducer To The Trolling Motor
To get accurate depth readings and images, the face of the transducer has to be parallel with the water's surface.

Onboard Charger
I am in my 6th year with Dual Pro.3-bank. Some boat companies use the Dual Pro with their brand name on it.

Does The Trim Come Off...

New Minn Kota Motor- A Non-Starter
Turn the prop by hand to determine if it will rotate somewhat freely. Sometimes the magnets get knocked loose in shipment.

Transducer Question
All units come with a transom transducer. There are other types to do a custom installation that suits your hull. Do it correctly the first time and use the right parts. You can exchange the unopened transducer package for the correct one for your instalation. Do not "adapt" one for other purposes if one is available for your particular use. You craft should use a shoot-thru 2D transducer for depth and 2D sonar all the time. That can be a 2D unit transducer or a DI unit transducer. For a Side Imaging unit, the SI transducer has to be externally mounted so the thru-hull or transom type is what you use, then add a shoot-thru XP 9 20 in the hull and connect the two transducers to the display with the AS SIDB Y cable. There are trolling motor mount transducer types too for that application.

Se Florida & Navionics
Get the Navionics+ version, it has no maps. You choose what to put on the card. You can download coastal (Gold coverage) and inland waters (Premium or Platinum coverage) anywhere in the country up to 2GB of data. Check the coverage on the Navionics web site. You can view the maps on their Web App. You get a year of Freshest Data updates, Sonar Charts, Community Edits---(for Lowrance), You can delete all the data on the card and put different stuff on it if you want. You would need a GPS simulator software to do the planning. Navplanner is one of them. Routes, Waypoints and Tracks are GPS data. That is not a mapping function. No GPS data is on the map cards. That is a function of the Plotter your unit has or some PC software. Mapping is just a background on a Chart Plotter. GPS is not mapping and mapping is not GPS--they work together.

What Type Deep Cycle And Smart Charger Combination ?
Either of those is OK too. They all function the same, just different capacities.

Transducer Question
This is the thru-hull SI transducer on the transom extension of a Ranger.
-
Transducer Question
No they are not the same. Shoot-thru is epoxied inside the hull and the sonar pulses shoot through the hull material. The 2D shoot-thru is either the XP 9 20 or the XP 9 20 T. Thru-hull is an external mounted transducer that takes a 1"+ hole in the hull bottom for the mount stem with cable. The thru-hull Side Imaging transducer is the XPTH 9 HDSI 180 T.

Sonar Vs. Down Imaging - When To Use Which
Both all the time unless you are vertical fishing, then 2D sonar.

New Minn Kota Motor- A Non-Starter
If you are getting the same voltage at the receptacle and the batteries, you don't need to "test" or reset the circuit breaker. Set the speed control to the highest setting and hold down on the "go" button for about 10-20 seconds. Then feel the receptacle and wires at the battery to see if any are HOT to the touch. Any hot spots indicate a faulty connection.

What Water Depth Of You Throw Top Water ?
I have caught largemouth and smallmouth bass with topwater lures over 100'+ depths. They were chasing shad to the surface. Topwater means TOPwater, not the depth.

Ethanol Treatment / Stabilizer
It is BUT, Seafoam is also a preserver, ethernol treatment, and a de-carboner. Use it all the time and there is no need to use ringfree or any other product anytime.

Front Deck Setup
I use my foot control in the center of the deck. I fish off both sides of the bow as well as forward. I steer with either foot so center works for me. I have the bow sonar unit in front of the pedal so I can see it equally well facing port or starboard. Some with a recessed foot pedal tray use a bridge mount to have the display centered like this:

Ethanol Treatment / Stabilizer
Seafoam--it does all that is listed above.

Is This A Big Problem?
Transducer Shield and Saver has a devise that makes the transom transducer a trolling motor puck and is a lot sturdier.

What Type Deep Cycle And Smart Charger Combination ?
Maximum battery life takes a fully charged battery all the time. That means an automatic charger that will charge AND maintain your battery --leave it hooked up all the time. A group 27 deep cycle battery should do well for you.
