Yeah, a guy there said they were just getting into spawning so I assumed there may be some fish that aren't spawning yet. I wouldn't know anyway since there was about 8 inches of visibility! It was tough!!

Today I went to my local lake and fished from 7am-12:45pm with no fish and one bite on a wacky senko. It was overcast and about 55 degrees with the water temp probably 60-62 the entire time until it started to warm up slightly towards the end of my fishing session. Any tips? I fished a spinnerbait, cranks on rocky banks, senkos that I skipped under laydowns, ned rig, etc. I saw some top water action right when I got out there but I didn't get any bites. The main problem that I encountered was that I could not find any shallow water... only bluff walls and steep drop offs
  3. Already entered twice over 2 days. Hope I win!
  4. So do you think an 8# would be a happy medium? That's exactly what I'm using right now but I'm using 12#
  5. Is mono durable and abrasion resistant like fluoro?
  6. I just bought and really like the Dirty Jigs OD Series Pitchin' jig in the black and blue color. Personally, I think black and blue is the most versatile color because it works in both clear and dirty water. Try the 3/8 ounce and see how you like it! https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-DIRTYJIGS.html?from=basres
  7. I don't want mono because it floats and I would rarely if ever be using topwaters on these rods.
  8. Hi all, I have 10# braid on my spinning rod and 20# braid on my bait caster and was wondering if 8# fluorocarbon would be suitable to put on both of these as a short leader? I know it will be fine for the spinning rod but is it too light for the bait caster? I really don't want to buy 2 spools of fluoro so I'm hoping using 8# fluorocarbon is suitable for both. Thanks
  9. Yeah I'm only used to a few of those lures like the Ned Rig, senkos, and somewhat a shakey head. I was wondering... how do I rig the tubes?
  10. I'm going out on a small lake this coming Sunday and my MH casting rod is broken so the only rod I have is a ML Fast action spinning rod. Any technique ideas that I can use to still catch fish since I can't use lures such as cranks, jigs, or even my confidence bait a spinnerbait. I'm thinking the Ned Rig or a dropshot. Thanks
  11. That's very unfortunate... How did it happen?
  12. Once I had to wipe with a leaf... which turned out to be poison ivy...
  13. I would have handled it much better if it happened today haha!
  14. Haha it would be very funny...
  15. Just like the title. For me, it was when my little brother hooked my arm past the barb on a cast and I got it out and told him to scoot over. The very next cast he somehow hooks the back of my leg...
  16. Brand new rod that magically got the tip broken when I set the hook on a log. I don't think I've ever been more sad.
  17. It honestly depends. If it is a massive piece of structure I might spend 20 mins on it. If it's a single log or stump I'll pitch like 2-4 times just to make sure I have covered everything.
  18. I saw a picture of a huge bass when I was younger in a tackle shop and always wanted to catch one. One day I threw a popper out into the middle of this pond and it got blown up on immediately. That's when I was hooked.
  19. That's exactly how I caught the only one of the day lol!
  20. I was fishing my local lake today that has many spawners as well as fry guarders and they all seemed to get spooked whenever I would pitch any sort of presentation onto their bed or near their fry. Any thoughts on how I can get them to bite? I only caught one that was interested in my lure. Thanks.
  21. This is spot on ^
  22. When I fish with my little brother, I start off by catching bluegill with him so he gets interested and stays interested, then I tie on a Ned Rig and let him work it any way he wants!
  23. I think just do what feels right. I am somewhat ambidextrous since I write with my right hand but play all sports with my left and I bought a LH retrieve reel because I feel that my right hand if better for fine motor skills so it feels comfortable to make accurate casts and stuff and my left hand is better for power. That's just me!
  24. I use braid for everything, use black and blue in crystal clear California water, and use snaps on cranks
