Overcast?

Featured Replies

Today I went to my local lake and fished from 7am-12:45pm with no fish and one bite on a wacky senko. It was overcast and about 55 degrees with the water temp probably 60-62 the entire time until it started to warm up slightly towards the end of my fishing session. Any tips? I fished a spinnerbait, cranks on rocky banks, senkos that I skipped under laydowns, ned rig, etc. I saw some top water action right when I got out there but I didn't get any bites. The main problem that I encountered was that I could not find any shallow water... only bluff walls and steep drop offs

Man, sure sounds like you tried the whole water column. Are they spawning there? It can be a tough bite during the spawn but afterwards is awesome!

Yeah, a guy there said they were just getting into spawning so I assumed there may be some fish that aren't spawning yet. I wouldn't know anyway since there was about 8 inches of visibility! It was tough!!

It sucks, but in a few days it's going to make up for it! Is the water way up?

If you fish where the bass are not located how do you expect to catch anything?

Pre spawn bass stage near spawning areas, spawners spawn in spawning areas and post spawners are near where they staged. None of this is near deep walls.

Overcast is ideal for bass fishing, makes it a little more difficult to sight fish, if it's windy.

In most lakes in USA, if you find an expansive, wind-protected flat in 1 to 4 ft of water,

you have found a spawning flat (it's that simple).

Fluke or as I use, a Yamamoto DShad.  Awsome bait that is always rigged.
