any lake chickamauga tips
I’m with you buddy. I can fish in the mud but I’d rather have some stained water than chocolate milk and I can not wait. I have been on this prespawn fishing trip for months in my mind. Nice. Let me know how it is. I’d like to check out the fishing in the Dayton area of the lake some time. Any area on that place is bound to better than about any place else you can fish.

Shew, we had to push our trip back a week because of a family issue that came up. I sure hope that it’s still going off next weekend. We’re coming down next Thursday now and I can’t wait!

I love the Okeechobee Fats bags. I have the larger one that comes with 4 trays and I keep about 85% of my stuff in it. I’ve had it for about 5 years now and it has stayed in perfect condition despite being WAY over stuffed. (Like literally with 90 lbs of gear in it.) I feel like I could drag it behind my truck for 100 miles and there wouldn’t be anything left of the gear in it but the bag would be fine.

The state park at Harrison bay is good but busy. Wolftever creek has a great ramp in the same area. You can also put in at island cove marina but I think you have to pay unless you stay there. All of these are on the lower end of the lake. I don’t know about any ramps up in the Dayton area.

No Fishing
10-4. Thanks for the info buddy. My fishing buddy that I’m going down with has some friends there right now. He said they have been whackin them and even put one over 8 in the boat yesterday but today there was so much junk that they were afraid to run anywhere. Hope it clears out some by next weekend.

G Loomis Recommendations please
So far I’ve used mine for Texas rigs, senkos, and light jigs but I’d figure it can easily handle most applications short of crankin. Also, glad to share some info on the G-Loomis brand. Honestly it’s crazy how easy it is to get locked in to a serious fishing gear collection. I swear my garage could double as a local bait shop. I love it but my wife shudders when I get near a Bass Pro it when I get on the Tackle Warehouse website. I’m truly a fishing junkie. ?

Chick is my favorite lake. I’m in eastern KY and can be there in about 4-5 hours so we get down several times a year. We’ve got our 1st trip of the year trip planned up for next weekend. TnRiver46, Would you mind if I shot you a pm before we go to see about the water conditions?

No Fishing
I’m going down to Chick Next weekend and I’m hoping it calms down some by then. I don’t care if it’s up 8 feet as long as we can get out and the bass are biting.

G Loomis Recommendations please
I have always been a G-Loomis guy but I never ventured into the price range above the IMX until recently. I purchased an NRX 893 C and I can say that it’s the best stick I’ve used so far. If you can afford it, I’d recommend it. I also just picked up a Conquest 843 C MBR but I haven’t had the chance to test it out yet. If it performs as awesome as it feels I’m gonna be a happy man. Good luck. No matter what Loomis you decide to get you will be pleased.

I ordered a 13 Fate spinning combo from Dick’s sporting goods when they had a sale a little while back and it arrived in just a long cardboard box. No rod tube, no protection inside at all, (Not even a plastic sleeve!) so of course the tip was broken off above the 2nd eye. I called customer service to see if I could mail it back and get a replacement but they could only do refunds and that it could take up to 60 days to get my money back if I shipped it to them. They said I could return it in store and get a replacement that way. I called the closest store (80 miles away) and they did have some in stock so I loaded up and took a road trip. When I got to the store there was one combo left and it had an anti-theft device wound so tight on the spinning reel that it had broken the anti-reverse gears in the reel. I spoke with a manager to see if I could swap the reel from my original combo to the combo that was in store with the broken reel. He had to call another manager down and it took them a half an hour to finally agree to let me leave the store with a functioning rod and reel combo. I love the sales that Dick’s sporting goods have but their customer service is a joke. What big name retailer ships a rod in just a plain cardboard box?

That 7’4 HF $&@ Fate Black (Green) is one of my favorite sticks. Picked one up from Tacke Warwhouse last spring after a several month wait and it has been my hammer ever since. For the price point it’s an incredible rod.

These are all of the lures I picked up during the after Christmas sales at Cabela’s and Bass Pro. I should be reloaded and ready to go. Everything was bought with gift cards or on clearance.

At the end of my line
Hey Tweety, I also live in eastern KY and I’ve been fishing here seriously for 20 or more years. Don’t feel bad, this happens more often than any fisherman thinks it should, especially in Eastern KY. I fish Paintsville, Dewey and Yatesville lakes mostly and some days they will humble the best fisherman I know. If you are in a Kayak, I would suggest fishing some of the backwaters of these lakes, especially when spring gets here. I’d also suggest that you do as is advised above and throw a LOT of finesse techniques. Weightless Senkos, weightless flukes, shaker heads and small worms, crawls and lizards on Texas dogs often produce year round here. What lakes do you fish here man?

Rodman Reservoir
The bite was a little slow??? That’s better than all of my all time best days here in Eastern KY! Way to lay the hammer to them buddy. What I’d give to have a lake like Rodman close to me.

Favorite Fluke color?
I really like Disco Shad a lot and anything that’s smoke with purple fleck catches for me. Also Arkansas Shiner and pearl white in flukes and KVD Magic for largemouth and Siren (bright chartreuse) for small mouth in the Strike King caffeine shad do really well. They are heavier and have a nice shimmy when they sink.

? The bigger Lobina Popper is a Rio Rico. (Rio means “river” in Spanish speaking countries too.) As far as I’m concerned they can call it, “Bass River Suave Latin rapper WWII Club Owner” and I’d still throw it. That lure counts for about 90% of what I put in the boat on topwater. I use the small Rico in the streams and Rivers around here and from April to early November thats usually all I have to take with me.
