I think they all cast lures of various weights well probably fished all combo's about 10 fishing trips on the Susquehanna river for smallmouth.The rod needs to be able to load the lure weights effectively all the rods I'm using are lighter powdered which makes a huge difference in casting small lures.

I say try a Daiwa spinning reel they do not twist line like most spinning reel brands .The real secrete is to stop the line with your finger close the bail by hand and don't crank the handle when the drag is being used.I own 8 daiwa sol's 4 fuego's type a's and 3 tierra's and there are no line twist issues with any of these reels.

for $60.00 you could purchase a fine reel ( DAIWA EXCELER ) this reel is very smooth,casts great,good drag,metal body.
