  1. In my experience, monofilament or copolymer ties better knots and has just as much if not more abrasion resistance. Out of the 2 I would choose invizx for treble hook baits and red label for single hook baits
  2. I enjoy throwing both types of jigs. But as mentioned above water clarity and temp help make the choice. Winter time is great for swimming a jig. Still havent found a swim jig I like so I just swim my pitching jigs Also recommend the fogy, something special about that football head
  3. I agree most go overboard with line size. But, if you can get away with it why not? And no way I'd be pitching a 3/4 ounce jig around cover on 12lb line.
  4. All our fish were caught on frogs in less than 3 feet of water. I believe they were all post spawn. Others at the tourney had some full of eggs.
  5. I changed the wording of my reply just for you! Lol
  6. 6'10 medium heavy tatula casting rod from sportamans outfitters. Gonna blow away a lot of the $100 rods. Fishes closer to the $200 price point
  7. Bill lowen-green castle indiana
  8. Another point tonhit on is to fish the moat uncomfortable times of the year. For instance, super hot or very rainy may run fair weather fishermen and women off where you could have the whole place to yourself.
  9. For the flw tour, I believe the rule is as long as you cant or didn't see the fish that you foul hooked its fair game. Seen a video of david dudley foul hook one on a c-rig in 20 feer of water, called tourney director and that is the information he relayed to him
  10. Yes had some nice bags. No giants though. 21 11 got 3rdd and 4th and 5th had 20 even. After that it wasnt even close.
  11. Pitching magnum rage bugs. All white spinnerbaits with white blades.
  12. 23/11 was the winning bag. Thats 3 fish under 18 and 3 over. We weighed 23 even and got 2nd. Also won big bass. 4/10. Had a good turnout with terrible weather.
  13. Are talking hula hoop, 5 gallon bucket, coffee can, or Dixie cup accurate? I would say at 30ft I can put it in a coffee cup 9/10 times as long it is my regular pitching rod. probably not gonna be able to do that with one of my crankbait rods.
  14. Think they are implying slow roll amd death roll. Maybe walleye trolling hooks
  15. Have some rigged up but havent used them yet. They feel and look amazing! Plan to use them as trailers for chatterbaits amd spinnerbaits as well as on a jig head.
  16. Big baits as in swimbaits, umbrella rigs, magnum cranks, or what? If you're looking to throw swimbaits and a-rigs on a budget I'd look into a bass pro shops musky rod. For magnum cranks I wouls go to americanlegacyfishing.com and get a lews david fritts perfect cranking rod 7'6 heavy power.
  17. Feel free to pm me. Definitely not gonna find anything on the web. Same guy has been putting on the tourney for over 30 years. I'd be more than happy to explain or answer any questions. I have fished it for 7 years and we always have a good time.
  18. I fish my big worms with a Gamakatsu magnum g-lock hook, 17-20lb fluoro, a dobyns fury 735 (although a 734 would work as well, I like the power and action of the 735), with a high speed tatula ct. Some of my favorite worms are yum mighty worms, xcite baits maximus worm, zoom mag ol' monster, culprit 12" worm, and 7" senko. Weights from 3/8 up to 3/4
  19. Lizard, rage bug, senko, swimbait, 10.5" straight tail worm
  20. Poehleins big bass tourney. Saturday May 4th. 5a-5p. Fish anywhere you want. 3 fish 14-18" and 3 fish over 18". $40 for two man team including big bass entry fee. Just a bunch of good old boys having fun. Would love to have some new faces.
  21. I have found that I have trouble tying fg knots with the kastking braid. It has a larger diameter, which I believe throws off the knot. I am pretty efficient in tyinf multiple knots and leader connections and have only had problems out of kk, even in heavier lb tests. I used to be a braid to leader fan but have since switched to mainlines only, whether that is braid, mono, copoly, or fluoro. My favorite braid to tie a leader knot with is daiwa j-braid x4. When crappie fishing I could tie 10lb braid to 4lb mono.
  22. Zoom z swimmer is a great 3.8 inch swimbait
