Yeah - Walmart is always hit and miss. Some people mention having found markdowns on $100 rods like a BuCoo and such, but none of mine have ever carried anything nicer than a $50 lews or berkley cherrywood. I did see some Abu Vengeance series rods at one yesterday. No real bait markdowns though - I think they've culled everything locally. They do carry a decent selection of Zoom and some Strike King, but the local Academy is virtually across the street, and I'll always go there first. Luckily I have 2 pretty well stocked local tackle shops as well.

They've been randomly running these 20% off sales - sometimes associated w/ a holiday, but sometimes by themselves. I'd expect to see something around Father's day.

You can read around the forums - I bought a pair of Legend Royales last year with this deal - I think I paid like $28 each. I've used them a decent amount, but to me their braking system needs work. Mag brake didn't seem to affect anything on mine, so I rely on the centrifugals. (Also - is that common, having both types of braking system? No other reel I've owned has had both styles.) Also - they will randomly make a loud cast, then be quiet as can be. I've gone through both reels, and can't find anything that's causing it.

Their rebate form appears to be the new $10 back promo from Berkley. Valid thru 8/14/18. Last year the rebate specifically excluded Dicks & Field&Stream stores. It doesn't this year. ( There was the separate rebate for them). Makes me wonder if we'll see that Dick's deal again. But, one other bonus, looks like you can submit online this year.

Yeah, and I don't see Jordan Lee making it - he's inside the cut at the moment, but Ott, and KVD, and Shryock #2 all might bump him out.

I've got J. Lee Howell and Horton - I'm holding hope on Horton - he's only got 3 fish, but they're pretty decent ones for 8.5 total. If he finds 2 more like what he's got, he'd be in the 12+ range.

Exactly - it's like I'm pond fishing out there - dinkfest. If they're not on largemouth, it's just a grind for 2lb spots. Wish I would have believed the hype and gone with Omori or Fukae.

Same here. Usually, I try to avoid the "This is a home lake for this guy, so he should know what's up" thought process, but there's so many Alabama anglers that it is pretty hard to not pick guys from there. I'm sticking with Fletcher Schryock for the early part of the season - just like something about the way he doesn't get locked into one technique or type of situation he's looking for. Lee/Howell/Schryock/Horton/Strader - although I was really tempted to swap Bobby Lane in after he had such a good tournament last week.

Wish my store stocked them. Kinda weird, my local store, has TONS of cheaper spinning rods/gear, but I hardly ever see anyone using spinning gear in my area (not counting serious anglers that have a finesse rig or 2 on the deck). And a lot of super heavy catfish/gar rigs - they don't keep much bass rods in stock. Bait selection is pretty decent though. The Academy across town is much better in selection on everything, but doesn't run near the sales that Dicks does.

You know, I kinda want to reclarify - If @Quarry Man was just asking about the 10 for $10 deal that Dicks ran, I dunno when that is coming back around. When that deal was active on their website, all of the $10 rebate information was removed from those products descriptions. It was folks like us that knew that the rebate could still be applied regardless of what we paid for the bait and waited until the 10 for $10 deal was active to really stock up. How many times could it be submitted - like 4 individual times?

The deal was actually through Berkley, and they had a special version of it specifically for Dicks/F&S stores. Looking at Berkley's website right now, I don't see any rebate programs running. I'm running low on powerworms in watermelon/red, would like to see one pop back up too.

I'm in as well. Pretty much picking Fletcher Shryock each week for my lineup. I've watched 2 seasons of MLF so far and watched him clean up when a lot of the competition couldn't even get bites on their own home water. What about the FLW league - anyone in that one too? Scott Martin is a value pick for their first event on Okeechobee.

Bah - and Ebay just sent me a $5 off coupon. I just went through all of my tackle trays and spare stuff, and don't really have any gaps that I'm seeing. I don't even know what I would need, but dangit, I'm looking around. Jerkbait rod maybe?
