  1. Never hurts to look! I understand where you're coming from, usually it's all the stuff they couldn't get rid of which is usually not the best but there might be some diamonds in the rough
  2. According to google its most likely bacteria called Epistylis or Physteria, it's not harmful to humans but can be transmitted to other bass if you don't wipe your hands before handling the next one.
  3. Will be checking for an update to see how I can donate! I like this a lot.
  4. I was talking to an employee (also a friend of a friend) at Gander, he said that in the final weeks certain items are going up to 90% off. That might just be my location though, but it's something to keep in mind.
  5. Stumbled across this gem while watching some videos today. Not sure if everyone's seen it and I thought it was pretty cool to see Gary Yamamoto in action so I figured I'd share it!
  6. I live about half an hour from Cleveland and am looking for some good new spots to go to. I have a few places but they only produce 2lb bass at the most! I want to catch my PB but I can't snag anything higher than that. I'm not a part of any private ponds and I've found multiple promising ponds but the property owners wont allow me to fish there. My last resort is to take a trip out of state or head south. I still have a week of paid vacation I might use that to my advantage.

  8. As I don't have a lot of tackle yet I categorize by fish, I have a catfish box, bass box, and a lake box (perch/walleye). I try different presentations and lures so I'm sure I'll need to start leaving stuff at home so I'm not carrying a 30 lb bag around. Even though I feel 1000% better when I have everything with me.
  9. According to a worker there my location is starting at 15% off and working their way up to 90% off by closing time. I splurged and took advantage of these deals and got a lot of great items. Then went back yesterday and go the new shimano stradic and a nice #8 rod! I will probably be back there 100 more times as the sales go up.
  10. Welcome!
  11. I will be sure to do all of these, it is definitely worth it when you spend good money on a nice setup
  12. Sounds easy enough thanks
  13. I used to fish for bluegill with my dad a long time ago and didn't pick up a rod again until about 3 years ago. I borrowed my buddy's uglystik and was just casting out expecting little bluegills then something fat hit my line. The adrenaline rush and feeling the bass was enough for me to purchase my own rod and start going regularly. I ran into some problems after that where I couldn't go as much and stopped going all together for about 2 years. Those problems subsided and I started going regularly again about 4 months ago and I'm in love with it more than ever now. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder I guess haha
  14. So I dropped $300 on a nice rod and the shimano stradic. Needless to say I'm in love and my old rod is chop liver to me now. Suggestions on what to do to keep up on it? The salesman recommended oiling the reel which is understandable but what oil should I use? I have gun oil but that's probably way too heavy. I'm heading up tomorrow to get a rod cover or some sort of protection, will a sleeve suffice or are there better options? Thanks.
  15. I like using a t-rigged senko and casting past their bed and dragging it over. If that doesn't work dropshot like @WRB mentioned, though I have never used a tube I prefer nightcrawler-like plastics.
  16. I'm not positive of the weight on my chatter bait but they are one of my favorite lures. Always use a trailer on them it makes them look tasty to fish. I'm not an expert but I just cast out and reel in like a spinner, I just go slower and faster on each cast depending until I find a nice speed that the bass like. I've caught some of my biggest bass off of them. When I get home I'll edit this and put the brand and weight of the lure
  17. My one buddy irritates me in particular he has no patience.. he will cast out 5 times then completely relocate because "there are no fish in there". He wont even try different lures/ plastics or anything he'll just up and leave the whole pond if he doesn't get anything in half an hour. Drives me insane. Even though I have days with not even a nibble I still enjoy getting out there for a couple hours and enjoying nature.
  18. I wouldn't mind sharing unless it was a private pond.

Welcome. Everybody here is extremely helpful and has never failed to answer my questions. ?
  20. That is very true. It makes me eager to get back out there tomorrow.
  21. Thanks, I'm gonna try out that dropshot tomorrow morning if the same problem comes up
  22. Went to a local pond today, didn't catch a single thing. Last time I went I used the same set of lures and caught 40+. It was drizzling and colder today than the day I caught that amount. How much of an effect does that have on the fish? They might've just been hanging out lower in the water but I tried different depths and every location. Or it could've just been an off day I'm not sure. Anyone know why?
  23. I'll check all those out and see what I like. If not I'll just invest into a go pro I've never really heard anything bad about them. Thanks for the info
  24. I've been wanting to get a nice camera that is durable and waterproof to wear while I'm fishing so I can record all my catches and what not for fun. I checked out go pro and everything seems good except the price tag (starting at $150). I'm not sure if I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet for a nice camera or if I can find cheaper alternatives. Suggestions?
  25. I'll keep that in mind. I'm usually looking around enjoying the nature and my arm relaxes and I scrape it. This should do the trick though. Thanks!
