  1. I’m not sure if it will handle a 10xd or not. If it will get me down to 20-25ft I’ll be happy. How deep will that one get you comfortably?
  2. Anyone tried these rods? I just ordered the 7’11” H for deep cranking but I can’t find much talk of these rods. They sound awesome if what St Croix says isn’t hype.
  3. Shimano Expride A 7’2”HF and a Shimano Bantam MGL spooled with 50lb sufix 832. Killer combo.
  4. I use the Avid 6’8” mxf for topwater and jerkbaits. The extra fast tip makes working both styles easier in my opinion. When jerkbaiting, I like the rod to load as little as possible so the line goes slack quickly and it gives it that darting action. Granted, it makes landing fish more difficult. I usually fish the Megabass Vision 110 with it.
  5. I use a St Croix Avid 6’8” Medium X Fast. I think the shorter rod and faster tip makes it easier to work the bait. But it is harder to keep them pinned.
  6. I picked up the Daiwa Zillion 7’3” MHF jig rod when they were on close-out. I’m pretty sure it is the same blank material as the Tatula with better components and longer warranty. The Zillion is outstanding. I would put it’s sensitivity above St Croixs SCIII Rods, but slightly less sensitive than my Megabass Orochi EMTF. But the Zillion is the most balanced rod I own paired with a Revo Premier. If the Tatula is the same blank, I would probably go for that. This is coming from a guy who owns 8 St. Croix Rods, which I love.
  7. I say definitely be patient and buy used. You will get much more for your money. I got an Old Town Predator 13 with paddle for $700. Basically a new boat. But if I could do it all over, I would have saved up and bought a pedal kayak to start with. You are going to want one eventually.

  9. Thanks. I’ll check it out.
  10. I know this is a bass forum, but I also know some of you guys get salty also. Soooo, I’m wondering if there is such thing as a decent offshore casting reel for under $100 that I can put on my swimbait rod and take offshore kayak fishing. Don’t want to spend money on a dedicated setup because I rarely get to go offshore, but I figure I would at least get a beefy casting reel with respectable line capacity for offshore fishing. Any ideas? Thanks!
  11. Thank you for the suggestion. I will definitely check it out.
  12. If you can still find a Fenwick Methods I say grab it. I have the 7’ spinning version and I love mine. It comes with enough pieces to make 4 different action/power combinations and a nice hard carrying case. MLXF MLF MXF MF they can be found for about $125. In my opinion, the best travel rod out there.
  13. I just took advantage of this last week. The Tournament MB is hands down the best in that price range. It performs just as well as my BB1 pros and Tournament ProGs. Buy it and don’t look back. Know of any participating sellers who sell Lowrance fish finders? I’m about to pull the trigger on an Elite 9ti but I’m looking for a deal ?
  14. So I have been extensively researching a heavy power rod to round out my kayak fishing aresenal. My requirements were $300 or less, 7’3” or less, versatile enough to throw frogs, jigs, and swimbaits on, would work for flipping and pitching also, super sensitive, and lightweight. I had finally settled on the Orochi XX Perfect Pitch until I realized they have boarderline microguides. I really want to run braid to leader on this particicular setup, so I’m back on the hunt for a good rod. I was considering the St Croix LTB 7’ HF Dock Sniper, but I’m not sure how small the guides are on those either, and I fear it would be a downgrade in sensitivity compared to the new Orochi. So, I’m hoping to get some suggestions from you guys. Thanks in advance!
