  1. I have tried a ton of braid cutters and they all dull pretty quickly (especially the Boomerangs). I get the cleanest cut from the Pitbull. They are the best I've used. I have had them a while and so far, they have remained sharp. I highly recommend them.
  2. I primarily fish the 5/8 Live Target frogs and the Spro 65's. Does anyone fish the larger Livetarget 65T, Rapala Terminator, or the Spro King Daddy?
  3. I fish a reservoir that has a mostly grass bottom. I, like many others, fish Senkos, Mojo rigs, and drop shots to keep baits above the grass. Would a light Neko rig work in this type environment?
  4. Anybody have experience with this braid? Which is best for throwing hollow bodied frogs(not super thick grass)? This setup also doubles as my Carolina rig.
  5. Welcome to the forum PaBassMan13. There was nothing wrong with your post. There are some people on this forum who seem to want to correct other people instead of adding something of value to the conversation. This forum is supposed to be a fun and informative place to go to share ideas about a sport we all love, not one for venting.
  6. The E6X is much better. I have had some of the lower end St Croix rods and haven't been impressed. I have also had the Avid. That rod never really impressed me either. I would recommend the E6X or a discounted IMX. It is a much better rod and they be found pretty easily online for around $200.00.
  7. J. Franco, You have my attention on the Megabass Pop X. What is you go-to color?
  8. My favorite walking style baits are Sammy's and Gunfish's. How does Megabass Giant Dog-X compare to those?
  9. What is the best way to store pre-rigged underspins in your tackle bag without the tails getting bent?
  10. I'm not that unhappy with what I am using. I'm just asking what someone with knowledge has found to be the optimal line.
  11. What is the best braid (brand and size) for casting hollow bodied frogs the furtherest distance? I don't fish lakes with heavy grass, so I don't need super thick braid. I have tried 40 and 50 lb (Power Pro Super Slick, Smackdown, Sunline BX2). I haven't tried Sunline FX2 Froggin' and Flippin'.
  12. If you have been fishing this rig since the 70's, I thought you would be the man to ask. I fish a resivour with big bass. It also gets a good bit of pressure and the bottom is mostly grass. Would I light Neko rig with one the new Yamamoto/Diawa Neko worms work or is just going to bury down in the grass? Everybody fishes the Senko and drop shot. I do as well and also use the Mojo rig to keep the bait above the grass. I would like to try something maybe the fish haven't seen.
  13. I may get another reel, but there are some things (like better balance and lack of recoil guides) that I like better about the GLX. That was the reasoning behind my question.
  14. Anybody use this model? I have a Shimano Metanium and I'm thinking about trying one of these.
  15. Yes, my current NRX is an 853 JWR that I use for jig fishing and other bottom contact baits. Sensitivity is my primary concern. I have read that the actions on the new GLX's are a little softer, so I might need to go up one. What do you think? My Metanium isn't as smooth as it should be and the NRX magnifies that compared to other rods (either due to increased sensitivity or the recoil guides). I just don't want to give up too much in the sensitivity department.
  16. I was wondering if anyone who has a NRX has tried the new GLX. If so, how close is it to the NRX?
  17. Would the sonar and downvision be better on the Helix 9 SI MEGA than the Helix 7 SI GN2 I had and didn't like? I thought you were saying they would not be any better on the Helix 9 MEGA. I just had the compact side imaging transducer. I on on the fence about side imaging. My choice is to get a Raymarine Dragonfly 7 for $400.00 or spend $1,350 on a Helix 9. The sonar and downvision on the Raymarine I had prior was superior to the Humminbird 7 SI and it was easier to use. I have a 200 lb, 15 ft Riverhawk boat that is used to fish reservoirs and Lake Lanier. $1,350 is a lot of investment for this size boat. If it is worth it, I will consider it, but I spent a lot of time fooling with the side vision for no real impact on my fishing. I was wondering if stepping up to the plate a bit would change that.
  18. Yes, I just pulled a Helix 7 SI G2 off my boat because I didn't find the side scan to be very good. I wasn't all that impressed with the sonar or downscan quality either. The Raymarine I had before had much clearer and crisper sonar and downscan, in my opionion. I was sharing that with my guy at the local tackle shop (who is sponsored by Humminbird) and he was raving about the Helix Mega Imaging. Spec wise, it does look impressive. I just don't want to be diasappointed again.
  19. That sounds like wise advice. I think I will sell it and just buy another Chronarch MGL.
  20. Does anyone have experience with this unit?
  21. Sarcasmo, You are correct about the name. I corrected that. Any experience with the Enox?
  22. I wondered also about the replacement, but my first one had a minor scuff on it and this one doesn't. There are times it has the feel and sound of metal scrubbing against metal.
  23. The first was I got was bad from the beginning. I took it back to my tackle shop and they suggested I send it back to Shimano, which I did. They replaced some "defective bearings" and sent it back. It was better for a while, then it reappeared. I sent it back again and indicated that I didn't want it repaired again and requested a replacement. They sent one. The same thing is happening again. I have used braid and also fluorocarbon. I have it mounted on an NRX.
  24. Has anyone else had issues with their Metanium MGL's not being smooth? I have a couple of the new Shimano Chronarch MGL's and they are smoother.
