So I don't know exactly what to call it - hence my search has come up short. I'm still learning and improving my casting, settings, matching lines and all that - but I notice every so often I'll go to cast a bit further and while the spool is running it almost "loosens", not quite a birds nest, but then seems to tighten right back up to normal by the time the bait hits the water. I'm concerned because I know something isn't right but I have no clue as it comes back to 'normal'.

So I have 1 rod right now, a 6'6" medium-fast St. Croix and want another rod to have set up (I have 2 reels).. is this rod a bad idea? I don't have a ton of $ to play with so thought it might be a good start, effectively 3 rods for a low price. Looking for any opinions. Entsports 2-piece rod w/ 3 tips

I'm pretty green so I'm just going to ask - what are the benefits of such a fast reel??

I right-reel on spinning, when I went to learn on a baitcaster I got a right-handed but I cast with my right as well and hated switching hands.. so I learned to use a left-handed reel and I'm happy with it.
