  3. Being a beginner in bass fishing myself, I've watched a ton of videos and read lots of articles about the how tos of just about everything. In my opinion, the videos and articles are very informative to an extent. What I mean is, in the videos they normally aren't using the same setup as I am and you can't really see everything, I believe, one needs to see in how something is done. Even less so with the articles. I think any beginner really needs to have someone that at least has some pretty good experience to go fishing with to be able to show them what they did wrong and then let them see the right way of doing it. In my case that doesn't seem to be going to happen and I'm just gonna have to do the best that I can when I can. The people I know around here that fish never seem to wanna go. It's really frustrating sometimes because they talk a lot about how they know a thing or two about fishing but when I ask them about going they always have something else going on. Personally I think they're all talk and no action. I may be wrong though, I don't know. Would be nice to find even an amateur to go fishing with just to learn together if nothing else.
  4. Wow that's kinda strange. Don't know why it woulda done like that. I've only worked there for a couple years now and I just mainly paint and eye them. Sorry you're not having any more luck with them. Hopefully you'll start catching on them again.
  5. @Catt I think it's cool you caught your PB on a Rat-L-Trap, I work there. I've yet to catch anything on one except for moss or getting snagged and losing it. I'm just a beginner though. I wanna figure all my lures out. Heck some of them I don't even remember the brand it is.
  6. I can relate to that. Sometimes it's the other way around. I won't stay long enough in a spot and move around a lot with the same lure tied on.

Hello and welcome aboard! Great pic of your daughter's first fish. Wish I could talk my son into going fishing with me. He's 18 now so you know how that can be nowadays...lol.
  10. Hello Keriana and welcome aboard! ☺
  11. Very informative. Thank you. I may not have set the hook hard enough on that bass this morning. This video pointed that out to me. Also when I was trying to get bit again I just was too impatient so I'll work it more slowly next time I'm out. Again thank you.
  12. I've pretty much given up on trying to walk my frog. I went fishing this morning and couldn't get it to walk, so I gave it little tugs as if it were a poppin frog and then pause a sec. I did that in open water and got bit. I popped it a couple times and paused and a bass blew up on it but missed so I popped it a couple more times and paused again. This time the bass blew up on it again and took it under. I set the hook or at least I thought I did and started to reel in. Got a couple turns on my reel and the bass come off. It was exciting and frustrating all at the same time. Kept trying a few more times after that and couldn't pay to get bit again. Don't know how it got loose. Only thing I can figure is maybe I didn't wait quite long enough before setting it. It was at least 2 or 3lbs maybe even more.
  13. Good morning and welcome aboard!
  14. I only fish from the bank for now, no boat, and fortunately there's not a lot of thick cover to go through in the lakes around here. Just haven't had any luck with most of my lures so far. Thanks for the advice. Mine is a medium fast taper action rod. I do use only braid on that rod no matter what I'm casting on it. The color of the braid is moss green and the waters I get to fish around here are murky/muddy/milky or stained. Haven't come across any really clear water yet. I do want a medium heavy rod though when I can afford one again. Thanks for the advice also. I gotta get some sleep now. Going fishing in the morning.
  15. Would the fact that it's a Lew's Carbon Speed Stick make a difference in backbone?
  16. My rod is a 6'6" medium fast spinning with 6.2:1 reel and 50lb spectra braid. Can walking a frog be accomplished with this setup?
  17. I'm thinking of going that route...lol. Harder to walk those smaller baits and poppin them ain't that hard...lol.
  18. I use a Booyah pad crasher too and I can't walk it either. I watched several videos on YouTube about it but still can't do it. They say with the frogs to do it like tapping a drum with shorter strokes than you do with bigger baits on slack line. I'm a drummer and still can't do it...lol. I was finally able to walk my Stutter Step but haven't had any bites on it yet.
  19. I'm going fishing in the morning with my girlfriend. I was wondering if anyone in or has fished in the Rapides Parish area of Louisiana, what are some good lakes around to bank fish for bass? On my profile I listed Rodemacher Lake (Cleco Lake) as my favorite only because I caught my most recent bass there. Any advice on the best techniques to use from the bank would be greatly appreciated as well.
  20. Thank you. I'm happy to be here.
  21. Hello and welcome Brad!
  22. Thank you. You must be in the Shreveport area.
  23. Lol thank you and yes "Geaux Tigers!"
