  1. I probably would be tying it directly to the lure 100% of the time. I know a lot of guys are going to the setup you are talking about nowadays. What is the advantage of that setup?
  2. Been losing a lot of crank baits and such in underwater timber recently and decided to do something about it. In regards to lure retrieval devices I think I want to use the kind on a telescopic pole as I do a lot of bank fishing too. Was checking out this specific product and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it: http://mygogetit.com/index.htm I think the design that has the coiled up spring on the end makes the most sense to me get down the the body of the lure and then "push" it the opposite way to get it to release. I've read a couple of positive reviews on this one and I like the price comparatively and the fact it can also be had in an 18 foot variety. Just looking for some advice or a recommendation.
  3. Between different family members 3 boats I get to do a lot of fishing on them. Thing is I would like to step my game up and start using a fish finder to give me info like water depth, temperature and obviously show me where the fish are! GPS would be nice but not a necessity as I've got to keep the price low. I am looking for a portable model, one I could easily pack up and carry from boat to boat. 15 years ago I had something similar, you could just drop the head over the side into the water and you were good to go. Do they still make ones like this? I'm really on a budget here so I understand I can't get the largest screen size or the most vibrant display, just looking for something to get the job done. Any advice on what to look for or even better a specific model recommendation would be GREAT!
  4. I use a 7' bait caster and do only large mouth bass fishing. I pretty much fish only ponds and small lakes and such. I usually fish crankbaits, spinner baits and a few jigs. Been fishing regular Power Pro 40 lb and have decided to give Sufix 832 a try. I figured I would go with the green but it got me to thinking about going with their bright yellow model. Just looking for some recommendations or food for thought as to what color to go with. I don't do any night fishing but better visibility would be nice. Again, it comes down to what the fish think and if they would be "spooked." Just to play it safe would it make more sense to go with the green?
  5. It does help a lot, thanks! Been thinking about buying my wife a new spinning rod combo for casual fishing. Do they still make reels that have the trigger on it to make opening the bail easier to cast? I don't think she would let me buy a new one for her without it LOL
  6. This is probably a very stupid question but I will risk getting flamed to ask it. Years ago I bought a simple little baitcaster combo from Bass Pro. It came with an Abu Garcia 6.5 foot medium heavy rod. Obviously the guide loops are on the top of the pole. I have an open face spinning reel I would like to use with this pole. I assume there is not problem with me flipping it over and have the guide loops facing down, correct?
