  1. I'm going on my 4th year with one, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Big lakes, small lakes from Sturgeon Bay to inland lakes it's been great. I remind my kids all the time they are fortunate to be able to fish out of a boat like this, I had a wooden rowboat at their age. I don't have the 150 but reports are it pushes it just fine. The single axle trailer makes it a lot easier to move in my garage. You will not be disappointed if you decide to get one. Also, mines a '17 and has fiberglass consoles.
  2. I buried a hook in my finger this weekend, stupid pike, popped it out with a piece of braid. Works like a charm, don't feel anything when it pops out. Just make sure your piece of line is long enough, not too short like my brother's first try, just yanked my whole hand.
  3. I'm fairly certain it would handle the 6 and 10 no problem. I'll try and report back after this weekend if I remember.
  4. I just picked up the St Croix legend glass spinning rod, paired with a 3000 series reel in works great. I've only thrown squarebills on it but it's rated for heavier baits than that.
  5. I could hear the trim working hard when there was a big ball of weeds from fishing in the slop. Then you have to hang over the side to get them off. Someone else may have a faster way to clear them that I'm not aware of. With the ultrex I can clear most of the weeds by pulling up partway and turning back and forth and I'm back fishing.
  6. I went form an Ulterra to an Ultrex with a 60" shaft. The trim up and down was great in open water but if you fish in heavy slop the ultrex is way easier to clear a pile of weeds from. That was the main reason I switched. If you're an open water fisherman the Ulterra can't be beat.
  7. Can't believe "Mission Impossible" hasn't been taken yet.
  8. responding to Jeff about the verado, I have the verado L4 which I believe is the same weight as the pro xs, the verado 6 cylinder is heavier.
  9. I tied on a new jerkbait and fished with it, it was a little tight a first until all the water worked out. It'll still probably need a little grease. For the record it was a kast king speed demon and the orange wasn't as visible as I thought it would be.
  10. Last week I was fishing on a cold wet day when I got a backlash on a jerkbait and my rod popped out of my hands overboard. Of course I had the autopilot going and the rod I grabbed to snag it with before it when down too far got tangled with the rod next to it. Basically everything that went wrong did. However, this story has a happy ending, the lake I was fishing is super clear so I went back up yesterday since it was finally a calm day, I cruised back and forth over the area but didn't see it. We fished for a while and went back over to the spot when the sun was higher but a slight breeze was making it a little difficult to see in the water. As we drifted over the area looking on the downwind side of the boat my dad spotted it in the first two minutes. We tossed out a marker buoy and ended up having to tie a big spoon on the end of my aquaview to snag it out of 16ft of water. Even though the fishing wasn't that great yesterday getting my rod back made my day.
  11. I always wear mine when fishing with my son, I'm not going to rely on a 13yr old to save me. I usually wear with another adult unless we're fishing in shallow water. Always have it on when I'm by myself. A life jacket is probably the cheapest life insurance you can buy.
