  1. Yes it came in a sealed plastic bag and has a St Croix tag that says B-stock.
  2. Yes, I ordered one and received it a couple of days ago. It is indeed B-stock and has one year warranty only. Looks brand new and I didn't find any defect or blemish.
  3. I went out this morning after the rain and had a decent outing. I started with a 6th sense crush 50x crank in craw color and fished it along a steep dropoff from 4 ft to 12 ft. Got 5-6 fish that way in the first hour. That bite died soon after so I was back to square one--trying to figure out a new pattern. Tried jerkbait, flip a jig, t-rig, lipless crank, swimbait, etc. for three hours and got two seemingly random fish on a jerkbait and a chatterbait. While picking a bird nest I accidentally found a pattern by deadsticking a wacky rigged worm. Got three fish that way on consequtive casts! All in all got 12-13 fish, nothing big but half of those are 2-3 lbs with fat bellies. Water temp was 57. Cloudy with a light breeze.
  4. That pond has way too many pickerels that stunt the growth of bass. Nice catch!
  5. There are definitely big fish in there but I found the fishing there to be rather inconsistent in terms of both number and size. I fished it three times this year so far--my best trip yielded 15 fish but only three over 2.0lbs and my worst trip resulted in two dinks. I had no fish more than 3 lbs this year from there but I did pull a 5lber out of it two years ago. Maybe it's just me sucking at it. Anyhow, getting a double digit bag out of that place is pretty decent.
  6. For bank fishing for smallies, I'd try Wachusett Reservoir. Lots of quality fish can be had at gates 8, 10 or the Scar Hill Bluffs area.
  7. I fished Whitehall yesterday morning and Chauncy this morning. Water temp was 76-80 degrees. Both trips were quite similar in terms of patterns--had a top water bite going early on but it's a grind after that. I had to downsize my baits to get bit. Caught about 15 largemouth at each place, mostly dinks with three or four 2.0-2.5lbers mixed in. The most effective baits were a finesse spinnerbait slowly rolled over grass and a ned rig. I also caught a boatload of pickerels and crappies.
  8. Fished for about 3 hours this morning. Post-spawn fish was active and feeding. Got 5 fish into the boat--nothing big with two in the 2.5-3.0lb range. Hooked but lost three other fish including a 4 lber right at the boat. Tried frog and buzzbait early and got nothing--neither is my confidence bait. Gave up on topwater. Started casting a swim jig and a finesse spinnerbait to the edge of weedlines and that did the damage.
  9. Same here. It seems that the up and down weather really confused the fish. I fished three hours yesterday and caught two dink bass early in the morning on a whopper plopper but nil after that.
  10. Yesterday I went out for only my third time this year and was surprised by the way it went down. I had planned to target some spawning fish with t-rigs but ended up throwing mostly spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and square bills. Caught 10 largemouth and about an equal number of pickerels, mostly pushed up shallow along the banks. Lunker of the day was this 5.1lb largemouth that came on my third cast of the day. A light bulb went off and I decided to start the day with a white double willow spinnerbait with a keitech 3.8" swing impact trailer. This fish came out of weed cover and smoked it! No big fish was caught after that but two of the catches were pushing 3.0lbs. All fish except two were caught on white spinnerbaits and bluegill colored chatterbaits. I am already doing better this year because I did not even crack the 5.0lb mark all last year!

I use them as trailers on swim jigs. Can't say they are better than Keitech swim impact, which I also use for that purpose, but they catch fish.
  12. Caught about 10 LMBs and a half dozen smallies in south MA yesterday. The LMBs were munching on shads in the shallow and shad flavored square bills and flukes were productive. The smallies were not aggressively feeding and I was only able to catch them with finesse jigs and a ned rig. The largest LMB weighed 3lb10oz and no smallie over 2lbs. Water temp was 63.
  13. Yes! I see better fishing ahead! A friend and I fished three ponds last Thursday on the cape. Water temp was 75. First pond we saw shad busting up everywhere and tried to match the hatch by fishing flukes and chatterbaits in white pearl. I only got two dink largies. Second pond I got skunked but missed a giant fish on topwater. Third pond I did better and got four smallies, largest being about 2.5lbs. Overall a slow day. It seemed that the bass was still in transition and not feeding aggressively. On Sunday I fished Whitehall. Caught like 10 picks but only two dink bass in three and a half hours but at least there were more actions LOL.
  14. For shore fishing, try wachusett reservoir, spot pond or sudbury reservoir. If you have a canoe/kayak/boat then there are more options.
  15. I’ve never done well at Cochichuate in either quantity or quality. I am sure it holds a few decent bass but for whatever reason it is difficult for me. Morses Pond is close to me and I’ve driven/walked by it many times. I don’t think boats are allowed. There’s limited shore access so I’ve actually never fished it.
  16. I hit Dudley Pond in Wayland last Friday. Last time I fished it was more than a year ago and I did okay. This time was way tougher. I spent most of my time focusing on the steep dropoff in the middle of the pond where it goes from 6 ft quickly to 25 ft, and the shallow cove at the northeastern tip. Texas rigs, swim baits, wacky rigs and jigs were futile. Dropshot was the only rig that got a few hits. A 1lb LMB and two picks saved me from being skunked. The coolest thing about this place is the white swan that lives there. Not only she's not afraid of me as I paddled towards her, she wanted to get onto my kayak. I guess she is fed often by the residents living around the pond. Inspired by the 14lb LMB that was claimed to be caught from a trout pond, I was looking for some trout water to fish. A friend of mine told me about some non-stop bass action he had a few weeks ago at Ashland Reservoir along the west shoreline near the dropoff. Has anyone fished there recently? How is the bass fishing there? I am trying to decide whether it's worth a 45 minute drive after labor day to check it out.
  17. The state record is over 15lbs for LMB, out of a small pond. I highly doubt the 13.9lb LMB is true, although it's possible, since I've not read anything even close to that in the media. I do think that these deep trout ponds hold some monster bass, given fewer bass fishermen target them and there is plenty of forage.
  18. Yes! That fish had an enormous head but was skinny. Hopefully with cooler temperature ahead, they will be in better feeding mode and fatten up!
  19. I got out for another morning mission today. It was a SLOW and "dinky" one (and I've had many of those this season), save for the last fish. There was a stretch of 1.5 hours without a single bite, despite my best efforts to toss both my "confidence baits" and "no confidence baits" that are supposed to work under the condition. Finally I was able to locate some fish pushed up shallow, on a weedy flat. A weedless rigged 4.3" Keitech swing impact fat fished really really slow produced 3 dinks and one 1.5 lber. Then the bite shut off again and for another 30 minutes, not a single bite. I was ready to pack up and leave but decided to toss a few last casts around some lily pads. I saw a big swirl, felt the weight on my line for a second, and set the hook. This fish (4lb 6oz) provided the happy ending to my trip.
  20. Went out in full rain gear from dawn to 9am today and I am glad I did, as a couple of good fish made up for the lack of quantity. I started with topwater, since the condition was just like DogBone's forecast, calm with slight wind. Had a couple of blowups on a whopper plopper just before 6am. The fog was so dense that I couldn't even see my lure/line after I cast it out. I fished some more topwater with a sebile flat belly walker and a frog but no takers. So I switched to a chatter bait and a soft jerk bait the rest of the trip. Overall I didn't get too many hits and did not find any consistent pattern but did land 7 LMB including a 4lb13oz (below), a 3lb10oz, a couple 2 lbers and the rest were 1-1.5lbs. With cooler temperature this weekend, hopefully there is better fishing ahead...
  21. Fished A1 in my kayak from 6 to 11am last Sunday. Bites were good between 7 and 9:30am when we had some cloud cover. Flukes and Texas rigged creature baits were the winning producers. Bites died down after the sun came out and I got only one fish after 10am by pitching a finesse jig into the tree stumps. Overall I caught ~15 LMB with the largest being about 3 lbs. Before Sunday I had a very rough stretch of two weeks where almost every fishing trip yielded only 1 to 3 (usually dinky) fish. Only exception was one trip when I fished exclusively with ned and drop shot rigs and got 14 fish, with the biggest being about 2lbs.
  22. I'd give that a shot. I've had luck with big fish dragging 12" jelly worms deep in the depth of summer. Another eel imitation I've done well with is the 7" Castaic jerky j eel.
  23. I have all 3 sizes but have only fished the 90 and 110. A couple weeks ago I caught a 4 lber on a size 90. 4 lbers are considered big here in MA. It is all or nothing for me as well, although I've got hits from dinks all the way up to 4 lbers.
  24. How do you take off the shipping charge? I had 4 bags of zman plastics in my cart but still had $7.50 shipping added.
