  1. I agree. I like that the fish go right back!
  2. I understand what you are saying. Angler’s knew what was happening and feelings got hurt at BASS. It’s a bit of a boycott. This happens all the time in business, not saying it’s right...
  3. I like your setup a lot!
  4. I feel this is very good advice. 6 setups is something I have in the boat for a tournament, 2 for the kayak, 1 for the shore. I’d be happy with just 2 or 3 setups, a lot less to take care of and spool line onto. Seriously, take care of your home life, it will be worth it. It’s cheaper to keep her.
  5. 7’1”mh fast 6’8”mh fast 7’4” h fast This does most I need to do, sometimes I’ll add a spinning rod or a medium baitcaster.
  6. Very cool! Is your club bass specific? I know some non affiliated clubs are multi species. I, and some others would be fine going independent. Others will not. Not going to make everyone happy, and as stated my the op, different goals across the board.
  7. My thoughts exactly. How does this affect the federation/club level fisherman? Right now in my area/state both FLW and BASS leave a lot to be desired for us club fishermen with little support to grow. My club was FLW/TBF for years, switching to BASS last year. We are giving it one more year in BASS then we will decide if we want to be an affiliated club at all. Looking forward to hearing what you and others think. Hope it stays respectful and civil.
  8. I grew up on culprit and Berkley powerworms in red shad. I think it was a bit like the senko was, back in the day, popular bait and color in its time. I pay attention to what people throw on here. I don’t always purchase the same stuff but sometimes I do. Not too many fishermen around my area know about bass resource. Haven’t been a member long, but have checked the site out since 2006 or so.
  9. Great memories!

I have a few of those, like em a lot. I’m big on flippin blue and sapphire blue jig trailers and black and blue jigs are pretty much the only jig color I throw.
  11. Really sweet ride sitting there! Cool pic
  12. Powell has been around a really long time. Both rods are imported, both companies have a good reputation, don’t think you could go wrong either way. My dad has a Powell inferno 7’3” H that he won, he’s using it mostly for frogs and it seems to handle it’s specified weight range well, maybe doing a bit better on the lower end of the range. I can’t speak on behalf of sensitivity, as there was a frog on it when I used it, but it sure is lightweight and balanced!
  13. Just looked, St. Croix no longer offers the 6’6” H premier. What are lure weights, I looked and didn’t see, maybe I missed it? It looks like loomis or custom is the way to go, which isn’t bad at all. I used to fish a Kistler 6’8” H rated to 1.5oz. Rod rocked for jigs , but it too is retired, the eyes are nearly falling off. Maybe Kistler will build you something? Castaway has a rod called their heavy worm. It’s a 6’6” Heavy. I remember Waterloo out of Texas had both a 6’10” and 7’3” “scrape” rod, not sure if Waterloo still builds rods or not.
  14. I will also add, that the super spot is pretty darn good. I still prefer an American made trap, but the spot is solid. As evil as people make Walmart out to me, you can set yourself up well with their fishing section. I think their chatterbaits are the cheapest I’ve seen as well. I’ll shop there from time to time, but I’ve been giving my nice local shop the nod lately. They give us club guys a nice 25 percent off anything fishing so... ?
  15. The Fuego CT is quite solid for that price, I like mine a lot. I think Walmart and amazon both have em pretty cheap.
  16. I have worn a full vest for years and have worn an Onyx automatic inflatable this year. I really like wearing the inflatable, and keep it on while fishing at times, especially if the water is cold or the current is strong. I’m not totally sold on the inflatable though. I’ve heard stories where guys get thrown from the boat and they don’t inflate, even a nearly new vest. I also feel that the full vest gives some added protection. I was actually thrown on the front deck of a bass boat one time after the driver failed to make a corner and hit land, my leg got banged up from going over the windshield, but my chest was fine. I was more lucky I didn’t get thrown into a tree, it’s pretty crazy how fast a 21 foot legend bass boat can stop after 70+. Anyway, I guess the important thing is to always wear any life vest while running. I would prefer automatic or manual myself, or get one that does both, mine does that. In my kayak I wear one meant for wake boarding, and I can still move my arms fine.
  17. My dad has a St. Croix Premier 6’6” H, rated to 1.5oz lures. I have the 6’10” version that they no longer make, and I retired mine. Might give that a check.
  18. I hear ya. They have a lot of specific models already, a fishing one would be the deal. I’d include a good line pick, to remove some of my worst backlashes.
  19. That’s pretty funny! With fish like what’s in your avatar, you might be willing to give that tourney thing a shot.
  20. I also like the Leatherman Wingman, I like the sissors. This stays in my tackle bag so I always have tools. In the boat I keep tools but the leatherman is just one of those must have items. I liked it so much I got another one for my hunting backpack, it has a pocket clip too which I like. I use a super tool 300 at work and I still prefer the wingman. And I failed to read that you bought one. The signal is nice, good deal on it!
  21. I agree with most of this. I have the newest LTB in 6’8” MH casting and find it much much better than the previous generation. I didn’t care for the reel seat on the last gen either.
  22. I’m pretty much the same. The only time I change that is with a moving lure I tend to sweep more to the side, but still both hands.
  23. Lol you are fine, weird people just don’t understand. It’s like the smell of manure on the fields in spring time, it stinks but you really can’t beat it.
