Does anybody have any experience with skeeter boats that’s willing to give some advice? Specifically a 2014 skeeter zx21. Is there anything I should look for that these boats have issues with? This is going to be my first bass boat purchase. This boat from pictures to me looks to be very clean and only has 150 hours on the 4 stroke Yamaha 250 sho. I have them down to 34k. I’m moving from a 18ft deep v aluminum boat. Do these skeeters ride well in rough conditions? I mainly fish the Great Lakes and lake st Clair but on real windy days i can always switch it up and goto inland lakes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I fish Saginaw bay and catch a lot of smallies on big 3.5 lucky craft lc square bills just burning them over rocky areas. And I do a lot of flipping along reeds and rarely do I use anything other than a 3/8-1/2 jig plus a trailer. Other than when I have a super finesse style bait tied on I’m using a 7 foot medium heavy casting set up. When it comes to top water I’m always using a 110 whopper plopper or a hollow body frog. So most of what I fish would be over 1/2oz. None of this is to say I’m doing it the right way, just my way ?.

Is that a razor shad?? Guess I’m going to have to try it out!

So me and my buddy were having a convo on wether or not you need a trailer on a spinner bait. I said yes he said no. I just couldn’t see myself throwing one without a trailer but he says it works. The convo then went to if you are putting a trailer on do you use a nice chunky Keitech or a small grub? I’ve always paired my spinner baits up with keitechs and other swimbaits and he says he uses grubs or ribbon tail worms when he uses a trailer. So .... what do you guys use?

I’m looking to take my dad on a fishing trip to Chickamauga. We both have talked about doing it for a while but I’ve decided to bite the bullet and book a trip but I’ve got a few problems. One we are farmers from Michigan and our only window to go before planting season is March (maybe early April) . Two I have no idea on the best time to go and best guide service. I’m assuming if we go in March we will be fishing for pre-spawners? Also we definitely aren’t looking for any live bait guides and I’m not opposed to going to a different lake as long as it’s not too far south if it’s usually better fishing during this time period. I have a lot of questions and any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I’ve used a MH for frogging before and I loved it. A lot easier than using a heavy rod for hours on end

I’m definitely going to have to pick one up I’ve heard a lot of great stuff about them. The only thing that I heard isn’t good is that leader knots get stuck in the t wing system. Have you had problems with this?

I was thinking jigs also. If only I could skip without a great big birds every other cast...

Ended up buying a ark sniper Medium heavy Extra fast 7ft casting rod during the tackle warehouse 25 days of Christmas not realizing it was an extra fast. So what techniques require such a fast tip? This rod seems like a night and day difference compared to all my fast tip rods.

Good find on that whopper plopper! There’s a public park by me that if you have waders you can pick up 40 bucks worth of online spinners every other week lol.

Wow a lot of valuable information. I live In the port Huron area and have fished LSC multiple times with no luck. Hopefully this year I get on a few. What kind of patterns do you look for in early spring? What’s usually the earliest you start going out and start getting bites?

I’ve had some pretty bad luck with the x raps but the shadow raps seem to hold up better. Not sure why might just be coincidence but I’ve had quite a few X-raps crack.

He seemed pretty confident we should be alright. Hopefully he wasnt just feeding me a line since he had been asked so much!
