The one I lost was the only one I saw and it came from the main lake point of the south boat ramp cove on a small jerkbait

It opened up yesterday. I let a friend of mine from work talk me into going out there yesterday and it was tough to find water that didn’t have people on it. We wound up catching a few smaller largemouths and nice white bass. In addition to losing a nice smallie at the boat. Most of the trout seemed to be way in the back of the coves still and we limited out on those in no time

I have to agree about the white bass. Every one I caught yesterday was twice as big as the ones I seem to find at Perry. And I got my white bass pb there last winter on a jerkbait

I haven’t caught one either but I talked to a guy who was fly fishing by the west boat ramp and he said he’d caught a few decent wipers that day

It makes me feel a little better to know that it isn’t just me! Since the lake is closing Saturday it will probably be two weeks until I make it there again and hopefully it is better then. Now I just need to figure out where to go next Tuesday.

I went to lake Shawnee again today and it was a pretty tough day. I only caught one largemouth and maybe a half dozen white bass. Just a heads up to everyone they have the signs up now that the lake will be closed the 27th-3rd for the trout stocking.

When I was a kid my grandpas favorite lure was always a Texas rig. He hasn’t been able to fish for years and he’s been in the hospital for a few weeks now and my dad, step mom, and I have all seen him casting and slowly lifting his rod, lowering it, and slowly lifting again in his sleep

Lake Shawnee wasn’t exactly on fire today but with getting a late start and having to leave earlier than I’d like I’m pretty happy with the 10 or so that I caught. Jig & craw around cover was the best producer for me. With a spinner bait picking up a few smaller ones

It really is a great little lake that I’m lucky to have just minutes from my house. As far as Swimbaits go the farthest into that I have gotten is keitechs and they do tend to produce well. Personally the best bites I’ve gotten into on that lake was last Nov/Dec on jerkbaits. The size so far is bigger on average this year so I’m pretty excited for that bite to come back. Plus now having a bow mount trolling motor should help fight the wind that tended to make certain parts of the lake to challenging to fish last winter. As far as the weed treatments go I haven’t heard anything, but I do know that they are still extremely thick in the shallows. And I’ve seen them as deep as 10’ in certain areas.

One of my most recent purchases was a handful of war eagle spinnerbaits, and on Wednesday it paid off with my best fish of the year so far at 3 lbs and 15 oz

I decided to not let the rain stop me today and went to Lake Shawnee. And it paid off with the lake to myself, and my best bass of the year weighing in a 3 lbs and 15 oz. Spinnerbaits, keitechs, jerkbaits, and a jig all caught fish, with spinnerbaits working the best. I have a couple pictures but I can’t upload them because they are too big, any hints on how to get that fixed?

I have 2 revo sx’s. I really like the gen 3 but the gen 4 is considerably better than the 3 in terms of smoothness, and braking. And the bigger handle of the gen 4 is nice too!

Maybe try some bigger keitech swing impact fats?

Once when I was a kid I missed a bite on a t rig and shorty after my dad hooked a fish. As he reeled it in my line slowly started to move towards him, once we landed the fish we discovered that the bass had eaten my worm, it went out through the gills, and then it went and ate his spinnerbait 30’ away

It really is a good lake, and I enjoy going to it. There is a good chance that will be it, but I’ve never went to Lone Star so I’ve considered giving it a try. And Melvern looks like it’s worth a trip too. It was almost the only lake I’d go to 3-4 years ago when I first got my boat and was living south of Carbondale. Since moving to Topeka 2 years ago I’ve only made it down there once

I made it back out to Perry yesterday and it was rough to say the least. Other than my step daughter snagging a 3’ carp on a grub we didn’t catch a thing. I’m hoping to go again either Tuesday or Wednesday, I’m thinking something other than Perry, I’m just not sure where.

Hey everybody, it’s been a LONG time since I’ve posted anything but it’s been crazy lately for me between getting married and moving and finding out I have a son on the way, but I’ve managed to get out to Perry a few times the last month and I can report that the white bass and drum are extremely easy to find, it feels like any rocky shoreline+a squarebill and you can fill the boat! Lol but I did catch my first Perry smallmouth which was about 16.5” and I lost what was probably my pb largemouth by the docks West of the Rock creek marina. I won’t guess it’s weight but I was shocked by the size of its mouth when it came out of the water and threw my kvd 1.0 back at me. I’m hoping to get back out there Wednesday and see if I can tempt it to bite again
