  1. I'm sure a majority of fishing records have been broken. In fact, we know that many have been broken, but a technicality wipes them out, and the catch quickly fades from memory, unless it's something amazing like Dottie. I think for the most part, though, people A.) Don't know they caught the record, B.) Don't want to share the record with the world, or C.) Don't have a way to get the record certified because hardly anyone is prepared for such an event while on the water.
  2. If that wasn't sudden, and I mean SUDDEN, no forecast or signs at all, then these guys are the ultimate Darwin award winners and specialize in stupidity.
  3. Sorry, I've lost too much weight, so I've got nothing.
  4. I wouldn't even know what to do with $3.34. Gumball machine maybe?
  5. Every generation asks this. Every time we reach what seems to be an almost impossible achievement, we soon reach even higher. I'm sure it's indefinite really.
  6. Same. I had no idea until this thread.
  7. If you're talking squarebills for shallow, anything works from 5s to 7s.
  8. I was browsing TW and saw a new Tatula CT. It's the same price ($130) as the other Tatula CT. The difference seems to be 7.4oz (old) vs 7.2oz (new), the 7.3 (old) is now 7.1 (new) but with the same IPT (from the Daiwa website), and no red on the new. Is the red one being phased out? Will this be the new standard CT?
  9. Just a heads up that the MH Fury is the 3 power and that's definitely a weak rod for chatterbaits and swimbaits. I like it for spinnerbaits. It's not like a traditional MH, much more of a M. The 4 power seems like what you'd want.
  10. Always proof read before hitting post, and then proof read again immediately after posting.
  11. Do yourself a favor and make sure you throw it on a casting setup. Absolutely awful jerking on spinning gear. I've been using a Fury 703c
  12. When it comes to bladed jigs and the vast variety of rods and lines people use for them, it should tell you one thing: if it can cast it and set the hook, it will work.
  13. In Indiana I've caught 40+ over the last few trips no further than 5-10 feet from the bank. I can't find a bite out further than that.
  14. I've messed up like this on both casting and spinning many times
  15. Don't stop fishing in mid September lol River SMB will hit any time, in any temps as long as the water isn't hard and you can locate them. It's prime time.
  16. People are just making jokes and telling me I'm weak, while ignoring the rest. These bass have very sharp teeth right now and they weren't like this until recently. I'm actually looking for real answers. It's like something triggered when the temps dropped and they began to feed heavily.
  17. But I like being able to push buttons and still walk
  18. For me bass thumb is a badge of honor lol I've never had them shred me like this though. Their teeth are really sharp all of a sudden.
  19. I really don't know if I've ever noticed this before and just glossed over it, but with the fall transition here, I've been absolutely crushing bass as they feed heavily, after a hot and slow summer. Now their teeth are super sharp. I caught exactly 20 today on a lipless and my thumb is shredded. At one point it was dripping blood. Their teeth are the sharpest I can remember feeling and they definitely weren't like this a few weeks ago. Same pond too.
  20. I had the 705CB. Terrible for squarebills and lipless. It's like a whip. 703C is much better. Fine for jerks though.
  21. A rod should not "break in". It's not a pair of shoes or a football.
  22. I never go out there with the mindset of big bass only. I go out there to fish for bass, the bigger the better, all are welcome.
  23. I do the wrap around 6-7 times, through the tiny hole, back through the loop, tighten down. Rarely break off on a fish.
  24. It's a combination of senses in my opinion. Even when the line doesn't run it still looks different. Bumping rock or wood or whatever just feels different. I feel like you feel a bite throughout the whole rod whereas bumping something does not reverberate through the whole rod. I don't know. I've been asked and I just say spend time fishing and pay attention. That's how I learned the difference.
