  1. These aren't the kind of exchanges that we have here. I got irritated once by what I thought was stupidity a couple years ago. Someone was trying to convince us that 50lb straight braid was the way to go for drop shotting. It was bizarre and my sarcasm couldn't take it anymore. This goes beyond that. You're disrespecting a well respected member here over absolutely nothing. You aggressively disagreed the first time and he documented how he's gotten his opinion, and this is how you respond? You must be used to Facebook groups and YouTube comments sections. But let me tell you, we ain't it chief.
  2. My girlfriend and some of our friends went boating and swimming a few days ago during a camping trip. We got way off shore and took a dip. Some of the water was unbearably hot. Almost felt like it was boiling. We didn't know how deep we were but nobody could swim to the bottom, just gave up for safety after about 10 feet. This is in Indiana. I don't think I've felt lake water so hot before.
  3. Aird-X rods are not stiff. They actually don't live up to their fast action rating at all. Moderate fast is more accurate.
  4. Senko, Fluke, and jig depending on where and what the situation is.
  5. I've done everything I can reasonably do. I've greased it in the lube port, taken off the side plate and took the spool out, cleaned what I could, etc. Still does it. Performance hasn't suffered but it is annoying because of my OCD. The reel isn't very old and wasn't particularly dirty at all. No abuse. Idk.
  6. Once in the same spot each time. It only lasts a split second. Speaking of the clutch... This reel did something a few days ago that might have something to do with what's going on maybe? I went to cast and there was a loud grind noise and the lure didn't travel very far. I recognized this as the clutch because last year I had a Silver Max do the same thing and you told me then it was the clutch. The Silver Max did it all the time though. This Speed Spool did it just the one time.
  7. Yeah it does. Edit: I read that as "with." I'm not sure if it does it without. I just went and bought some Lew's grease. I'll do that and check the side plate and report back.
  8. I've got a Speed Spool that has started to feel rough when turning the handle and retrieving. It only feels like this for a split second in the same location though. The whole process is smooth until the handle is turned to one exact spot somewhere inside. What could it be? I don't take apart reels so I wouldn't know where to start.
  9. Split shots? Nah, forget it. Sold out everywhere. Lame. Can't even get the simplest of things.
  10. Temperatures reached an all time high in the Article Circle, with 100.4*F being recorded in one Siberian town. Climate change is totally a hoax though (sarcasm). I was bank fishing a couple of days ago. The last temperature reading that I took was 90*F. I drank 2 bottles of water before heading out and 3 more while I was there. After a couple of hours I felt like I was going to pass out and had to sit in the shade to recover before leaving. I got home and felt sick and was urinating what looked like an orange sports drink even after all of that water. Be very careful.
  11. Imagine paying $500 for a spinning reel that isn't any different than any other spinning reel $150 and up, other than the ugliness.
  12. It's funny reading threads like this and realizing just how little we actually know and how contradictory we are. Fishing from the bank we are told that if we can see the fish, they can see us and won't bite and to stand as far back as possible. With wading the consensus is that our presence does not scare the fish.
  13. Senko and Fluke
  14. It seems like you're buying a rod every day lol
  15. A medium heavy and a medium power casting rods with fast or moderate fast actions, and a medium power spinning rod with a fast action are always my first three choices and will accomplish the most for you while bank fishing. Once you add a fourth setup, it's my opinion that you go to one extreme or the other: a heavy power casting rod with a fast action or a medium light power spinning rod with a fast action; depending entirely on where you fish, what your target is, and what you like to do. In your case, based on location and species, I'd go with a ML/F spinning setup. All in 6'6" to 7'. Reel gear ratio and sizes is entirely your choice.
  16. The 705CB Fury is a whip. I'd say poppers would be great but I wouldn't be throwing buzzbaits and chatterbaits on it.
  17. Dirty Jigs for swimjigs and RI Dippers and SK Menaces for trailers.
  18. This thread is one of many reasons I highly disagree that a true fast action rod is the best all around ?‍♂️ in almost every instance give me a rod that is either labeled as or performs as a MF with a strong backbone.

  20. 3 power for the 90 (1/2oz) 4 power for the 75 (5/8oz) I'd use a 5 power for the 110 (1oz). I never use the 130. A WP doesn't need a specific rod, just whatever you have that can accommodate the weight. It's got stout, sticky trebles.
  21. It sounds to me, like all companies, they wanted to make sure their rod actually had a defect and wasn't broken by negligence. And of course now COVID-19 has the whole industry messed up along with everything else. Well, fine. I won't try to tell you what your experience was because I'm not you, but this is very unusual.
  22. Fenwick is great. This is all COVID-19 related. They're generally known for some of the best customer service in the industry.
  23. A 4 power Dobyns is only a noodle if you compare it to other company's versions of Heavy. It really is a MH+.
