Are Soft Plastics Freeze/Thaw Stable?.....
I have them in their original bags, in the sealed bags of worm wallets, and in a sealed trunk. I should be ok..... (I hope)

Are Soft Plastics Freeze/Thaw Stable?.....
Thanks! They're headed outside. My bedroom was getting a bit congested between tackle and kayak gear....

Are Soft Plastics Freeze/Thaw Stable?.....
Just as the title asks, are they freeze/thaw stable? I was going to store some of my gear and tackle in an unheated shed. Temps have routinely been going below 0°. Will they be damaged? Thanks.....

Havoc Pit Boss hook size??......
I'm gearing up for the spring and have a fair selection of the Pit Bosses. Normally, I'm using 4/0 or5/0 EWG Gami hooks with worms. What's the recommended size? I fish a shallow pond and go weightless......

Guess The Weight.....?
Thanks! My apologies for my typo, lol! Old eyes and tired fingers..... She really took me for a bit of a ride and when I finally got her up to my yak, she brought with her a bale of pond salad........

Guess The Weight.....?
Actually, this is a legitimate question. The bass in question is one I caught (and released) in October 2015. It was my first season fishing for bass from a kayak. At the time I didn't have a scale and co-workers I showed the pics to guesstimated it's weight. It was very close to 24' long. Admittedly, these aren't the best pictures. For the eyes of those who have more experience than I, what would you guess it weighs? Now that I'm better equipped, I have learned that my perception doesn't always align with reality....

Knowing Bass......the search continues
I've been searching for an affordable copy of Knowing Bass. It's out of print and when it was readily available it cost about $16.95. Now the prices are ridiculous, many times approaching $200. Does anyone know of a good and affordable source?

fishing hat for brutally hot summer days
I use the issue boonie hats. If heat is an issue, I can use one of those neck wraps that you soak in water and it provides evaporative cooling.....

Rain Gear for Kayak??? What's The Plan?
Some features..... The APECS parka and trousers are made of Gore-tex material with Gore-seam tape sealed seams. APECS is lighter in weight, lower in bulk, has lower noise generation, is moisture vapor permeable and has an improved water repellency when compared to the ECWCS parka and trousers. NIR technology resists detection by night vision equipment. APECS displays MARPAT camouflage (Woodland or Desert) for the Marine Corps and the "tiger stripe" ABU pattern for the USAF. APECS Parka features: A collar with a draw cord for adjustment and a stowed hood Water-resistant slide fasteners are used in the front closure Underarm openings Two concealed upper chest pockets Two lower pockets with flaps Concealed hand warmer pockets Two upper sleeve pockets with flaps Adjustable wrist tabs An insignia tab on the left front Draw cord adjustment for the waist and hem concealed inside the lower pockets Reinforcement patches on the elbows APECS Trousers features: An elastic draw cord at the waist A slide fastener front fly Slide fastener ankle openings Lower leg adjustment tabs Two front hip pass-thru openings with flaps Two leg cargo pockets with elasticized openings and buttoned flaps Reinforcement patches at the seat and knees

Rain Gear for Kayak??? What's The Plan?
In warmer weather I use a USMC APECS light exposure suit (Gore-Tex). When temps drop I'll use a ABU APECS Parka (Gore-Tex) or USMC APECS parka with Gore-Tex pants and layer to suit comfort. PDF is worn over whatever I choose so I have access to all pockets and gear on my Chinook..... If you search hard, you can get some good deals on EBay..... Footwear- warm weather - NRS paddleshoe.... cold weather NRS Boundry boot......

I'll look into those lures. Typically I replace trebles with VMC inline hooks and crush the barb...... This is one of the conditions that I must work with. Think of it as Linda Blair green pea pudding.....

Advice Needed... Thinking Outside The Box......
I have been fishing a small shallow pond (14 acre) for the past 3 seasons and have done pretty well. However, the obvious patterns have shifted and so must my approach. Max depth is 8-9 ft. and most of it is in the 3-5 ft. range. It's pretty much devoid of any significant structure but is heavily weeded. At the end of the summer spirogyra (sp?) is all over.... The first season quite surprised me. We'd fish from 11 or 12 till 5 in the evening and there was abundant surface activity all around the pond. It lasted till 3 and then shut off like a switch was thrown. The second season was quite different. Virtually no surface activity and a noted absence of pickerel. I did pretty well with bass and had started using flukes in earnest. This past season was much like the previous year. Again, I did fairly well and used unweighted plastic worms (10") almost exclusively..... One other item - This year there was a noted absence of turtles this past year. The previous years we'd see snapping, painted and red eared slider frequently. I'm using a FF but in such a shallow body of water it can only provide limited info that is usable. I'll target the deeper sections and the drop offs, any overhanging trees, breaks in vegetation, shadows and any submerged trees (I've only found one so far). How would you approach this?

Just joined BR in my learning journey. I'm an avid yak angler, targeting LB and have been doing this for the past 3 seasons. My GF and I hit a small local pond (14 acres) that gets very little fishing pressure because it can't be fished from the shore and access requires a fair amount of energy to cart the yaks down a gnarly trail. I've learned a great deal since we started but have only scratched the surface. Trying to identify patterns with all the variables is like working a jigsaw puzzle. With all the unanswered questions, I have managed to land some large bass. Personal best was just under 7#'s, and have a number of 5-6# fish. I practice barbless catch and release. I look forward to future learning from BR and would like to thank those who share their wisdom in advance and with some luck, I'll become a better fisherman...... All Good Medicine, Crow Creator, everything we do leaves a track. May our tracks be ones we would want you to see and others to follow...... - Greetings from Upstate NY
