  1. Maybe. If you want to CATCH some smallmouth, live shinners are the ticket. Otherwise, fish a fly & float. You might pick up a couple.
  2. "Dark" works in all water. If I were to chose one color combination only, it would be watermelon with black flakes.
  3. Lucky Craft Sammy and Heddon Zara Spook.
  4. Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test).
  5. jetsprint2, Welcome aboard! My line suggestion today is the same as yesterday: Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 Baitcasting: " " " " " #12 I have never been broken off by a fish, using these lines.
  6. If conditions are tough at Lake Fork in March, we might feed a few minnows to some of your Texas bass this spring, too!
  7. Everyday... So avid, what line should I buy? Wait, I need to stay on topic...avid, what is the "best" color for the "best" line?
  8. Hey buddy, I've been fishing with you, remember? You didn't NEED anything. Now you bought a bunch of new stuff. Man, I would consider that a "problem."
  9. What is all this Die-A- Wauee stuff? Can't you guys spell Shimano? It's S-H-I-M-A-N-O. For the next ten years or so, you will not have to ask ReelMech what's wrong with your reel or how to fix it. Geez, get the RIGHT reel. Get it right and fix it for good. No problems, no questions and no complaints. Feugo? That reminds me of F-something You. Is that a play on words? C'mon, Shimano...That's what you need. Well, I know better than to question the Doctor, but I have used both smooth and grooved extensively withouth a line failure that I could attribute to a split shot. Still, going forward I'll accept Rauls advice and stick with a smooth inside. Better to be safe than sorry.

Nope. Split shot does not effect the integrity of the line. You should probably check your line before every cast anyhow, but you do not need to change out the weight.
  12. I lived in Denver for seventeen years and enjoyed winter and everything associated with all the opportunities that were available in Colorado. Winter was beautiful. But now that I have lived in Tennessee for nearly ten years I have a greater appreciation for our winters. We generally have three or four weeks of brutally cold weather, sometimes dipping below thirty degrees! December FEELS like Christmas and helps me appreciate the spring, even if it arrives a little early (late February). I think the winter is very hard on our smallmouth bass, too. It seems like they are always hungry. Poor things. I plan to help them as much as possible and supplement their diet with some fresh minnows every chance I get.
  13. Here are two suggestions that will improve your fishing (catching) by at least 100 percent: 1. Fish on a river. River bass are always more active than lake bass during the winter months. 2. If you want to catch fish, live bait is the answer.
  14. He may eventually make it into the Hall of Fame, but it won't be this year.
  15. That's the proto-type that was used as the working model in designing and constructing the Clinton Library. The finished product is in Little Rock Arkansas: http://www.clintonlittlerock.com/
  16. I buy most of my hard baits from BPS. I return ALL lures that are defective, become defective or break. I ALWAYS take them in for EXCHANGE, never money back. I have NEVER been denied for any reason. The lure companies, in general, know that they are going to have returns and have no reason to squabble with major retailers. No one is really out in money and YOU should never take the hit.
  17. To follow-up on ghot's post: There is no "best" line, there are only "favorite" lines. Every line currently available has its pluses and minuses. There are always trade-offs.
  18. I fished P-Line CXX for a couple of years, but the coiling, especially in cold weather, was terrible. My soft plastics rig is M/F spinning tackle and #6 (11.9 lb test) Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. On baitcasting gear I spool up Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test). These lines have virtually no memory in use and I have never been broken off by a fish using these lines.
  19. What? GMAN, When I get you down here you will remember the bait, the weight, the date and the time of day!
  20. That is a very nice bass. Congratulations!
  21. You can bet I'll give it a go. I'm looking forward to fishing with you again. Thank you!
  22. MALTESE FALCON, If it ain't broken, don't fix it. You have the ideal situation. My bigger fish always seem to be loners, isolated from the pack.
  23. Norman Fat Boy, bluegill pattern.
  24. Welcome aboard!
