  1. I think you might be better off pitching them. If the texture is compromised, the flavor may also be impaired. I wouldn't try to save them.
  2. I like In-Fisherman and Gary Yamamoto's Inside Line.
  3. If your boys can fish soft plastics, a Senko or Fat Ika will probably catch a few.
  4. Yeah, well as you drive across "fly-over" country, some of the frontier outposts have grocery stores and even bakeries! On the otherhand, you could bring your own, bread will keep just fine for a few days. BTW, A few I-tallyuns must have escaped from New York. There are a few colonies out here in the "Territories." I rescued my wife from a branch of The Family in St. Louis. "Back in the day" her relatives ran whiskey for Capone out of Chicago.
  5. PM sent. BTW, I am doing chilli & hoagies, not BBQ.
  6. Welcome aboard! Fish structure in deeper water. The fish that are relating to structure in deeper water are not effected by low water.
  7. I just received the new Bass Master Magazine in the mail and a notification that this is my last chance to renew my subscription without missing another publication... That's not going to happen. I'm done with B.A.S.S.
  8. dodgeguy knows his Pflugers. I would go with his advice in deciding which one of these reels to buy.
  9. Wow! Russ, That's terrific, Job well done!
  10. The weighted worms I use include GYCB Kut-tail, GYCB 6 & 8" worms and the Roboworm (6" Shakin' Zipper). It seems that I catch greater numbers, but smaller fish on worms than other soft plastics. I'll continue to carry them around and use a worm occasionally, but they are certainly not a focus item for me, there are usually better options.
  11. Hey Dan! That was a great post. Anyone interested in a Megabass rod should find your post VERY helpful. Thank you.
  12. LBH, You are Bad To The Bone! Just lucky ANYONE would give YOU a job! Seriously, be glad to be busy, the other side of the coin is UGLY.
  13. I don't really know. A year or so ago I called and spoke with the manager who (1) Didn't know what was really available or when it MIGHT be available; (2) Could not tll me when I might expect to have any rod delivered; (3) Had no pricing information and (4) Couldn't provide any information on warranty or repair policies. So, if I can't get any information up front when I'm trying to buy something, I sure as heck don't want to try to deal with that company later, when I need some help. I ended up buying a couple of Stella (from someone else, of course) and The Bait Monkey told me I didn't have to buy a Megabass rod.
  14. Not true. You need a little mono backing to keep the braid from slipping.
  15. St. Croix Avid AC66MF with a soft tip (I may replace this with a G.Loomis PR844C) Shimano Calais CL200 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultgra Soft #12
  16. I have been using EWG hooks for nearly ten years without any problems. I think I'll stick with them.
  17. Welcome aboard! If you would ever like to chase smallmouth on the Tennessee River, let me know, I've got a spot reserved for you.

*** Moderator Note *** All right, I deleted a couple of posts...avid started this thread just for fun, otherwise it would have been deleted up front. Poking a little fun at ourselves should be fun and that's fine, but if you want to make it serious, nope, that's not going to happen. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  19. Well, mostly that's what I fish for March through September. My rod is a G.Loomis MBR844C. If that is out of your price range, I suggest a 7' Heavy Power/ Fast Action baitcasting rod.
  20. I tie a Palomar Knot most of the time. I "waste" an inch or two on every knot. As flechero suggested, if that's too much, use another line.
  21. The original formula is a completely different line than the Hybrid Ultra Soft. In use, Ultra Soft has virtually no memory. I fish #6 (11.9 lb test) on spinning tackle, #12 (19.5 lb test) on baitcasting gear. I have never been broken off by a fish on this line.
  22. "you need to try them out yourself to be sure." Not me. I save some money and frustration by NOT buying lures! I am only interested in adding lures to my collection that are HIGHLY recommended by members of BassResource. com or people I know personally. I keep a list and may add a few baits this year, but this one will not be included.
