  1. Hmm... That's a tough question. Which one is a Shimano?
  2. Flipping, but dropshotting is a very close second. I rarely (never) do either. However, if I were a tournament fisherman, I think I might spend 75% of my time fishing those techniques! It seems to me that nothing is more productive than a dropshot rig for catching small fish quickly. Flipping has nothing to do with the way I like to fish, but again, VERY productive.
  3. Just one wish... A 12 lb 1 oz smallmouth would do me just fine!
  4. I HIGHLY recommend Cabela's neoprene (bib) waders WITH boots. There are a number of styles and a wide range of pricing points to fit your budget. I don't know exactly which set I have, but I bought them more than ten years ago. I had to replace the boots once, but the waders themselves have stood up to years of rugged use.
  5. I just wanted to repeat what avid and Bud said. You really don't need any more advice.
  6. Well, assuming they are bass, two lures that might work in shallow water are the Senko and Fat Ika. As a matter of fact, I'll go so far to say, "If you don't catch a bass on one of these baits, they're not bass!"
  7. Well, unless you are VERY mechanically inclined, you should NOT open one of your good reels. Start with some junk and see how it goes, first. Otherwise, you will be money ahead sending it to a professional reel specialist. (Usually, house brands have to be serviced by the retailer).
  8. ** MODERATOR NOTE ** No it is not against the rules, as long as it is NOT a company YOU are associated with. We have paying sponsors and we DO NOT allow other companies or individuals ASSOCIATED with other companies (like your sponsors for example) to advertise on the Forum. There are exceptions that are determined on a case by case basis. BTW, We would like more paying sponsors and the advertising costs are very reasonable. Please direct specific questions to the Administrator (Glenn) through the PM system. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  9. I am not familiar with that model, but I have two CTE200GT. If you like round reels, I HIGHLY recommend this one.
  10. There is no "best," just "favorite." My nominee is this package: G.Loomis GLX PR844C/ Shimano Calais CL200ASV
  11. Hooks, sinkers and bobbers so that they can ALWAYS catch some fish and keep them interested. If the kids are ready to try a few lures, keep it simple: Original Rapala, Zara Puppy (black & chrome), spinner bait, Norman Fat Boy, Bomber Square A and a couple of Rat-L-Traps. These are all user friendly, catch fish and won't get hung up too much. Maybe buzzbaits and frogs, but that seems like a step up. You can help them with soft plastics some times, but I think that those lures should probably be put off awhile until they have had some success with artificials that are easier to fish. Most of "Can we go fishing?" is "Can we do something fun and be with you, Dad?"
  12. Welcome aboard!
  13. Take them back for exchange.
  14. Gameover, It doesn't surprise me that YOU would do something like that, but it is TOTALLY unethical and wrong. If management or the owners of Gander Mountain see this thread, I suspect they will FIRE the fishing staff at the store you shop. Whether you could be prosecuted is uncertain, but by your own admission it appears that your intent is to commit fraud.
  15. Santa Clause is a long shot. I'd go with The BaitMonkey, he is far more dependable. Just ask and you shall receive...the beautiful rod and an ugly bill.
  16. Gotcha! Still, that's REALLY deep. What were you fishing for?
  17. What? 1 fathom = 6' 60 fathoms (60 X 6) = 360' For bass?
  18. The_Natural, Good point...I have NEVER met anyone with highend equipment that didn't use it, and use it exclusively.

  20. Yeah, and you still bought something other than a Shimano!
  21. I have been fishing Senkos since 1997 or 98 with 4/0 & 5/0 EWG hooks. When I get a bite, I rarely miss a fish.
  22. Excellent! Anytime you catch a PB, it's a great day. Congratulations!
  23. Well, I have "fished" 300+ feet at Bull Shoals in north central Arkansas, but I was throwing a Lucky Craft Pointer 128. So, although I was fishing in deep water, I was "catching" in relatively shallow water. For a truely deep presentation, 40' or so is about it for me in freshwater.
  24. PB! It just doesn't get any better than that.
