  1. I assumed the lip clip would be less harmful. Can't the hook kind damage their gills?
  2. Thanks!
  3. I might try that. Thanks.
  4. Thanks. I'm looking into one of those lip clip scales. I used to have one but it broke.
  5. "If this offends you I don't care" Haha, I love that. Also, thank you for your service.
  6. Another one on the zoom lizard. ?
  7. Just landed my second biggest bass. Hooked it under a sunken tree. I almost had a heart attack when it suddenly dawned on me that it was in the middle of a tree... (especially since it felt like a car on the end of the line) Anyways, I got a quick picture before releasing it. What would you say it weighs? And trust me, the picture doesn't do him justice.
  8. People that feel the need to throw the fish to the next county when releasing them...
  9. Either that or a 20+ lb. bass...
  10. I'm not an expert on these things, but it sounds like the gills are just too big.
  11. Glad to hear you're catching 'em. You should try a texas rigged zoom lizard. They really work, (in the pond I fish, at least) and they just catch huge bass. Good luck in the future!
  12. Yeah, I'd kind of prefer a spinning rod, but I do have a decent baitcasting reel.
  13. I might have to try that. If I do have to just replace the rod though, do you think I should go with another baitcaster, or a spinning rod? It would be the only rod I use besides a back up baitcaster (abu garcia black max that I used to use) which I'm using right now. I've always thought that the kind of fishing done with spinning rods (i.e. light line, drop shot rigs, ned rigs, etc.) looked really fun.
  14. Well, no-one near me repairs rod guides, so I tried to do it myself and I'm pretty sure I've already damaged the rod blank. That guide won't come off. I got that rod as a gift less than a month ago. ?
  15. Well, I just tried pulling it off and it just doesn't work. I'm afraid to keep trying because I really don't want to damage the rod with the heat.
  16. I usually use the palomar for braid, and the uni knot for small diameter line. (don't know why...)
  17. Welcome! (Why wasn't I named "Bass"?)

Welcome to BR! Or every hour...
  19. Welcome!
  20. Ok, thanks. I'll look into that place on Facebook.
  21. Are there weeds on the surface? If not, a frog (or walking bait) should be the key.
  22. Just learned how to tie the Orvis knot and it seems to be a much better knot than the improve clinch. Apparently it's stronger, and it seems to be nearly impossible to burn the line when tying it.
