  2. Try a topwater walking bait. It might not get any bites if they aren't active, but it sure is fun to fish.
  3. The ratio of men to women that seriously bass fish is probably about 200:1. I've never met a woman in my entire life that enjoyed bass fishing. I have, however, met hundreds of men who enjoy it. Not saying that no women like bass fishing, but it's definitely a very small number.
  4. Sounds like there are too many bass and not enough food. It's the same way in the pond my uncle fishes. You can catch 10 bass in an hour, but none of them are over 3 lbs.
  5. Not so sure about that... ?
  6. Yeah. I wish I could catch them on topwater, but they just always stay on the bottom. It's really shallow so I guess they're just trying to get as deep as possible. Jigs and t-rigs are the most effective baits in that pond by far.
  7. Huh. Interesting. I caught my PB today in about 6 inches of water right off the bank. For some reason I never thought they would be that shallow when its overcast, but apparently so. I would, but the bass in that pond just won't hit topwater. I've spent countless hours throwing frogs, spooks, buzzbaits, etc. and never got a bite on one. Then I tie on a T-rig and start catching 'em.
  8. Do they tend to just go like, 10 feet away from the cover, or way out in the pond?
  9. Thanks. Just tied a spinnerbait on with the palomar. Went out and caught my PB.
  10. It's been overcast almost every day in NE Alabama recently. I've tried spinnerbaits, crankbaits, lipless crankbaits, etc. and in about 10 hours of total fishing, caught one bass. I can usually catch one about every 2 hours on average when it's sunny because they all go to cover, making it easy to find and catch them. My question is, where do they go when it's cloudy? I've tried fishing cover a lot without one bite. The one that I caught was about 3 feet off one of those "nothing banks". Should I just randomly be fan casting while hoping to get lucky and get a bite, or is there a more effective way of catching them? Getting kind of frustrated because I know they're active, but I just can't locate them. Any advice as to locating them would be appreciated. Edit: Didn't mean to post that in fishing reports...
  11. I've been tying a palomar knot a lot recently, but I've heard that people often "cross the lines" when tying it, which reduces the strength of the knot a lot. What does "crossing the lines" mean? I want to make sure I get good knot strength because there are a lot of bass in the 3 - 7 pound range in the pond I fish. I'd hate to break one of those off.
  12. Good to know. Thanks.
  13. Just finished watching it. Great video. That part at 4:20 was hilarious...
  14. Always wondered what made them look like that. Is that always true, or just usually true?
  15. Anyone else tried fishing a dropshot in water less than, say, 5 feet deep? I know that it's generally a deep water techniquie, but would it still work in water that shallow? Any other thoughts on it?
  16. Yup. About to place my Tackle Warehouse order. Going with the ML.
  17. Alright. Thank you. I guess I'll go with the ML.
  18. I know that a M is more likely to break the line on a hookset or something, but I was thinking that I won't be able to fight the fish quickly, making it more likely to wrap me up. Is that a real concern?
  19. Would you still go with the medium light when fishing near light cover? (i.e. small pond with sticks on the bottom, some weeds around the perimeter, etc.) Just for hooksets and everything, I would definitely go with the ML, but I'm afraid I'm going to get broken off or something when using a rod that light.
  20. Nice! What was it caught on?
  21. That would be a great choice. Edit: I would definitely go with the trilene knot for that. It was designed just for that line.
  22. Thanks. I'm planning on using a lot of ned rigs, so I'm probably going to go with the ML.
