  1. Thanks guys! Hadn't considered the Diawas until now
  2. How fast is it sinking? I'm not familiar with the wee r but I know some crankbaits slow sink to entice bites Also, did you put new hooks on it? If you did and they're heavier than the originals, they could cause the bait to sink.
  3. Congrats!!! My brother caught his PB (6 lbs flat) in January on a blade bait also! Great fish man!
  4. Probably so, bass are curious creatures and their only way to get the "hands" on things is through their mouth. Also thousands of bass are caught each year on creature baits and I have yet to see anything in the wild that looks like a creature bait
  5. Try a Texas rigged green pumpkin chartreuse tail Yum Dinger. It's the lure that got me hooked on bass fishing in ponds just like that
  6. I second the Zoom finesse worms but also like the smaller (can't remember the exact length) BioSpawn Plasma Tails. Both are good options I usually fish mine on a 1/16 oz. shaky head but they're versatile so fish them how you want I have not caught a ton of BIG fish on finesse worms but I usually catch numbers with fish in the 2-3 lb range if the conditions are right
  7. I prefer to fish a squarbill around wood or rock structure. I usually crank down till I make contact and then kill it for a second. Then I keep on cranking As for color, crawfish colors (red) work good as Spring starts to turn into Summer. As for any other color, just try to match the hatch. If you got a pond with a lot of bluegill then through bluegill. If you are fishing around a lake with shad then through shad
  8. Sounds like you were fishing it pretty slow, feel free to fish a lipless pretty aggressively. Also, all those ticks and taps may not have been fish, could've been some hidden structure. Good luck on catching you a crankbait hawg!!!
  9. Obviously conditions are what I consider first but if I had to choose a bait to through first I would take a paddle tail swimbait in the 3.5"-5" range. Fish concentrate to certain areas and this presentation allows you to cover water and is effective in pretty much every type of cover. I prefer white or green pumpkin colors and my favorite brands are the Strike King Rage Swimmer and Big Bite Baits Cane Thumper
  10. New angler on here from South Texas looking for a new baitcaster in the $100-$150 range. Preferably a reel that can fish everything jigs, plastics, cranks, you name it. I know certain reels work better for different lures and what not but I'm looking to build my arsenal from the ground up and need a starting point. Any suggestions? Please include gear ratios. Thanks!
