  1. Lure net has free shipping on orders over $35. Found a code online for 15% of Debo15. My total order was 37$ which went to $32 after the code. I saved something like $12 total once the free shipping was added. they don’t have the best selection. It’s all Norman, bomber, bandit hard baits and mainly yum soft plastics. After listening to BTL Thursday episode with frank I bought some Norman red cranks and some yum spine craws.
  2. What hooks come stock on the deep-six 300. I generally always swap out hooks to kvd triple grips. However, I feel like I shouldn’t be messing with a good thing. I’ve got 2 bent hooks on one of me deep six cranks that I need to replace.
  3. Ok I see it now. Thanks that looks cool Next project started. This is my rod geek dark blue glass 7ft8 heavy deep cranking rod 1-2oz. I’m on a EVA kick since I’ve learned how to shape it. Next build I’ll probably go back to cork. im using fugi ecs-17 real seat, crb guides that I salvaged off my broken Bushido deep cranking build from last year. The Eva handle and matching butt is a dark blue and black camo. I’m going to try using some A size thread. I’ve got pro wrap colorfast cfs-A 434, pro wrap blue Electra metallic and color fast grey 813 I think I’m going to use as an under wrap for the hook keeper. I don’t know if I’ll take the easy way out and just put a black for grip on it or shape one from the left over EVa stick that I have
  4. Any of the gel ones seem to dry the quickest. Seem the less messiest too. I’ve tried gorilla glue and lock tite super glue gel. Both worked good
  5. I do prefer smallies. IF given the choice I will fish for small mouth. In Michigan smallie fall from the trees that’s how plentiful they are. I still enjoy fishing for large mouth though. generally speaking smallies are in deeper lakes and every river/creek with faster current. Though I’ve caught them in lakes that average less than 5ft large mouths generally are in shallower lakes and slower rivers. you will catch them hanging out with each other in the same spots though any where.
  6. Usually chatter bait. But, I’m going t be throwing a lot of lipless, jerkbaits, OG’s and shadraps as well
  7. That chart blue back has been on my want list for a while. I love not paying shipping for items. fishing show’s in Michigan have been traditionally all about Great Lakes walleye and salmon. Starting to see more bass stuff every year.
  8. Grand Rapids fishing show purchases. Lt day I could make it was on today ( Thursday). A lot of good deals to be had. mega bass deep six blue back mat chart crank 3/4 oz sleeper gill 1/2 oz dark sleeper wakasagi diawa / Yamamoto 5.8 Neko straight worm in baby bass og slim 6 in Helsinki shad 2 bags of 4 inch extreme bass tackle tubes in blue illusion and goby 3.5 inch kietech swing impact in sun gill also bought a telescoping ranger net with rubber net 920T
  9. reels I use all the time I service once a year. Reels that don’t get much use 2-3 years or when problems arise. I use penn reel grease. It’s blue in color. I’m pretty sure it’s just blue lithium marine grade grease. For oil I use the Lucas reel oil. I’m servicing my brothers okuma trolling reels at the moment. I going to try using gear oil for the bearings. As a rule these don’t get serviced every year or ever. so my thinking the heavier gear oil maybe better. I was also given two bottles of Lucas gun oil. It’s red I’ve been thinking of using this also for bearings as it seems a bit heavier than the Lucas reel oil. With that said I’ve never had an issue with Lucas reel oil. I think any quality grease will work. I don’t grease carbon tech washers. I just did a for hire tear down and lube on a slx DC. It still had the greased felt drag washer. Since it was already greased I did add a couple drops of oil to them.
  10. Usually I try to stay in the middle of the weight range. Only 2 instances that I go at over the range. 1st being punching heavy jigs in the 1 1/4-1 1/2. I believe my Bass-x 7ft4 heavy rod is rated to 1 1/4 ( I’m not near the rod to check) I only throw 1 1/4-1 1/2 oz jigs on it punching heavy cover. 2nd: cranks I don’t go over very often lot but, when in a pinch I’ll go a little heavier than what the rods rating is. However, that’s more determined by a crank to crank basis between differnt mfg. some cranks pull more than others
  11. Latest ebay winnings. Originally I was looking at purchasing a diawa tatula or BG spinning reel. How ever, I found these 2 quantum accurist s3 AT25SPT’s from my fav eBay vendor for a winning bid of $80 shipped for the both. These are $90-100 a piece reels. im a big quantum fan. I’ve got a quantum accurist spinning reel from 12 yrs ago still going strong. I’ve also got a accurist bait caster with the flipping switch ( bargain for a $100 bait caster). The accurist line dosent get the attention it deserves.
  12. I guess I would have to see that done to see how it looks. I’m just trying to wrap my head around it
  13. So it’s officially done. I’m happy with it. Learned how to make a handle rather than making it from a handle kit. Learned how to do inlays and feel fairly confident in that wrap. It’s not perfect but, casts amazing. next up when I get some time is the 7ft8 glass rod from tackle geeks. I want to a fade wrap on that one.
  14. Yeah it seems like it will work for tubes. The hook eye is buried into the tube. Hook eye could be longer but, would work. There up to the 1/4 oz size would work better for 3.5 inch tubes. 1st photo: so the bottom tube is a no-name generic 3.5 tube with 1/8 jig. Middle tube is a strike king 3.5 tube with 1/4 oz jig. Top jig is 1/4 with a 4.0 zoom tube. The 1/4 oz has 2/0 hook the 1/8 has 1/0 hook. 2nd photo the 3/0 eagle claw lazor sharp dosent want to fit. I don’t know if I need to maybe mill out the hook eye ? 3rd photo bottom row: eagle claw lazor sharp. Middle row: owner 1/0 light wire Top row gama 114 1/0 hooks I can’t believe I’ve put off buying this Lee melter for so long. Definitely blows my hot pot 2 electric ladle out of the water
  15. That’s a good idea actually I wasn’t thinking about that. The smaller ones might work. I’ll check it out soon. I was hoping to do a test run with that mold and new melter tonight
  16. I ended up going with the gama do it mold Grc-7-A. I also picked up some L3053 lazor sharp eagle claw hooks to play around with. I believe that I have some similar style gama 604 hooks, Mustad, and owner hooks on hand already. also bought a new Lee melter for MFC to get ready for walleye jig making season.
  17. Latest eBay score 3 200 yard spoils of 7lbs suffix invisiline. 4 spool of 8 lbs Yamamoto sugoi flouro carbon. Picked it all up for $60 shipped. Both 7lbs and 8 lbs are going on spinning reels. If this doesn’t work I’m going braid to flouro. Decided to down size line a bit. Atleast if it still knots up I have enough flouro to probably get through the year. 2nd photo is float and fly stuff that came in. 2 adjusta bubble floats one in 1/4 and another in 3/8. Lastly spro 1/16 flies. Talking that winter will drag into April. The float and fly might be a bigger player.
  18. March 1st and It’s the final count down!!!! Traditionaly within the last 5 years I start bass fishing on or around March 25th. Extended forecast still looks like nights in the teens untill mid March. Hopefully it starts climbing to the mud 30’s and 40’s soon at night. Days are getting to the 40’s already
  19. Yes we can. We have a fairly decent sized pond in the back that was there before the cheese plant was built. They told us during orientation that we can fish it when we’re off the clock. There is also a small creek/river that the company waste water treatment plant dumps into. that we can also fish.
  20. The one towards bottom are definitely longer because, I was trying to fit in that trim band. Im sure they will get shorter as time goes on and I do this more. I have found it’s really more about training your fingers and hands what to do more than anything This little gadget was definitely worth the 8 bucks from mud hole. This is the first rod I’ve used it on but, works well for extra support down at the tip end. Wil be good for ice rods too
  21. I’m betting you have the hardware in tight to each other. You need to leave a little distance from the last bead and how ever you came up with to make a loop. The whole assembly should kinda slide back and forth when you tip the whole spinner upside down. You don’t need a ton of room. Just enough do that last bead can move maybe 1/32 or 1:16 of an inch you need little metal beads on either side of the clevis. The metal beads act as bearings for the blade. french blades work the best but, colors can be lacking in this photo you can see the little gap and the beads around the clevis this spinner is a river smallie killer btw
  22. Been really busy with my jig business doing walleye jigs recently but, finally had time to get my rod all wrapped up. After I post this I’ll put color preserver on and then tonight hopefully I’ll start putting epoxy on the wraps. those new lzr guides are really nice. Wish I would have bought the grey ones though Both of the differnt single inlays were a new wrapping technique I tried out. Worked pretty good
  23. Definitely the Mojo. However, the premier is at the same price point or a little bit more as the mojo and is made in Wisconsin. I don’t know if the premier comes with split grips.
  24. 4 inch green pumpkin Zoom tube or Berkley maxx scent. I forget how long the maxx scent tube is. it’s either 3.5 or 4 inches I Get more mileage out of the zoom tube but, I caught a lot of 4 lbers on the maxx scent tube last year either on a tube jig or Carolina rigged. I did use a blue and black strike king kvd tube with a little success last year on the titabawassee and Saginaw river.
  25. I can’t take credit for that. MickD is the one that sent me the email attachment on how to do that
