Why is this DAIWA reel $109.99 cost more than the Pflueger $69.95. Compare pics and tell me the Daiwa Isnt junk.
That president reel is straight garbage. Within 6 months the plastic piece on the bail spring will break. there are no replacement parts in this country for that particular part. I literally know of about 20 president reels including my own reel waiting for that part to come off of the back order list. if you can find one 6-10 yrs old they were a better reel back than. phluegar is a name only on a piece of paper.

Pflueger baitcaster parts?
E-replacement parts like MN fished stated seems to handle all of the doyo made parts in the states.

No I bought the toaster oven at Walmart just over ten yrs ago. Ten yrs ago during the winter I made my first jig while, living my one room apartment while on the front porch freezing in the winter time. I was using a hot pot 2 electric ladle. My then girlfriend now wife thought I was crazy for making jigs middle of winter. Well she thinks I’m still crazy about all this fishing stuff

My Costa Sunglases.
I have a pair of blue framed costa Del Mar’s with blue tinted plastic lenses. I love my pair of costas. They were cheaper than the pair of copper colored plastic lensed Oakley’s which, are good too. Defiantly will purchase another pair of costas when the time arises. I have 2 higher end pairs of sunglasses I should be good for a while

Which size Swimbait head?
The short easy answer Is a 1/4 oz is a good starting point. However depending on the depth, there are a bunch of factors. what is your bottom composition. If your bottom is a hard bottom or sand you can go as heavy as you want or need. If it’s really weedy or snagy you will have to play around with it. Ideally you want it as close to the bottom with out getting hung up constantly.

I should be getting my spinner bait spacers soon and then down another hole haha. made up jigs tonight on my last off night for three nights. First picture made up some blue gill swim baits from the do it poison tail mold. There are actually 3 differnt disco colors on the jig head. I don’t know if done messing around with this pattern yet. Maybe more tweaks coming. next up is swim jigs and arkies with black and blue flake powder paint. Black and blue fire tip skirt with a rattle. I’m hoping the rattle helps on the titabawassee and Saginaw rivers where visibility is a foot on a good day. 3rd is a variation of pb&j which, I have found works as a good back up color on the above mentioned rivers and in tannic colored lakes. lastly another pattern I made up and I’m calling peanut butter goby. The paint is TJ tackle goby with pb&j skirt with gold neon flake. that one seems promising up north and or on any of Great Lakes or connecting waters. we’re almost to jig season. Just need to get the water temp up 10-20 degrees atleast for the arkies.

I’ve actually been thinking about keeping a few. You catch a lot on this particular lake that are chunky for bring 20-22 inches. I caught some ice fishing 2 winters ago before I found out the lake had special pike regs on it and threw them back. I wouldn’t keep the straight hammer handles though. Catch and keep for pike and walleye dosent start untill the last Saturday in April. I actually think pike is one of the better tasting inland fish

Those are the prime bait stealing size. Catching legal sized pike don’t annoy me as the risk out weighs the reward. Well at this lake they are so numerous we can only keep one over 24 inches as many as you want umder which, is reversed how it is normally

As far as being able to pattern, find, stay on and catching numbers of bass this year has been my best to date. I’ve had better years as far as big fish but, I’d go trips between fish. The air temp dropped 30 degrees since last Friday. Which, dropped the water temp back down to 49 degrees. Which, pushed fish out to 6-8 feet instead of 2-4 of last Friday. I caught 12-15 bass ranging from 12-14 inches. I also caught ten northern pike between 18-24 inches. jerk baits we’re hot again as the majority of the fish came on that same lucky craft blue gill pointer. I tried going out to deeper water on the drop offs for bigger fish but, basically caught a bunch of pike and 3-4 bass that came on a deep kvd 300 clear ayu jerk bait. The biggest pike came on a lucky craft 3/4 oz 500 Lv lipless crank. Supposed to be 80 again tommrow And then 50’s this weekend and consistent 60’s next week. Who knows how the fish respond. I’ve spent a lot of time studying bass patterns and behavior in the last couple months. below are the highlights

Luck-E-Strike
Arnt lucky e strike made by lucky craft ? I was always under the impressions those were baits that didn’t make the cut Q/A wise for lucky strike during the mfg process. Rather than throw away. they sold them as lucky E strikes . I could be wrong.

Best Suspending Jerkbait recommendations?
What is the difference in the lucky craft line between the MR’s and the slender pointer. I know the lighting painters are supposed to mimic the mega bass sp’s I have the mr’s and slender pointers but, never really had success as compared to like lighting pointers and regular pointers.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
After cracking all the males in shallow and loosing the bigger females out Deep yesterday the bait monkey was whispering in my ear. So I was in owosso for my daughters soccer game and stopped by Dunhams sports to pick up more spring time and blue gill inspired baits. Black and blue paca slim, sapphire blue pack chunk, GP pack chunk, blue gill grits side 5 and a smithwick suspending pro rogue in black back silver body orange belly. i was using paca chunks and other net baits when I first started bass fishing and kinda swore them off. I don’t think I was using what I had correctly. Giving them another shot. The chunks will work with smaller jigs. Paca slims I think will be a change up from the chigger craw. I actually do very well on black and blue plastic but, don’t have a lot for whatever reason I’m my bag. Frites side is obviously for spring time and when ever a cold front comes through. Smithwick rogue will be for the titabawassee and Saginaw rivers once the rivers open back up once the walleye are done spawning i there’s out probably $150-$200 worth of soft plastics last weekend. If I hadn’t used it 2-3 years out it went

Best Suspending Jerkbait recommendations?
Mega bass is obviously the top and the most expensive. There is a whole lot of good ones in the mid range 10-15 dollar range. Lucky craft, spro, Berkley stunners, 6th sense, KVD the lower end you have the smithwick rogues which, I like fishing in deeper rivers, rapala husky jerks also suspend. almost pulled the trigger on a duo blue gill DD jerk bait last but, I decided to go with the 6th sense deep blue hill jerk bait instead

Local or Regional Goodies
I just found this company at the grand rapids fishing show this last March. They are called xtremebasstackle.com. They specialize in making small mouth tubes for lake st.Clair and the state of Michigan/Great Lakes region. They are based in the metro Detroit area ( lake st.Claire). I bought 2 packs of tubes. 1 4 inch tubes in blue illusion and 1 pack of goby. I have not yet made it to big crystal or one of the Great Lakes yet this year to fish so I havnt fished them yet. However, they look and feel like great quality tubes looks like they have been around since the 90’s

Fished crystal lake again In Montcalm county Michigan. Water temp had warmed up almost 20 degrees in 4 days. It’s been 80 degrees the since Tuesday. As I was motoring out I happened to look into the water and I saw a wolf pack of 10-14 inch bass schooled up and just roaming around in 3-4 ft of water. I investigated this and picked off three. However, the entire shallows was full of schools of what I’m assuming were males roaming around. Shows how much I’ve matured as an angler I would have stayed all day catching these smaller fish. They were not in a chasing mood. Tried moving out deeper looking for bigger fish I was mildly successful. I finally figured out that they wanted either a blue gill or perch jerk bait. I caught around 20 14-15 inch fish on a LC blue gill jerk bait. I lost 3-4 bigger fish on a mega bass perch +1 in 8-9ft of water. I’m finding out blue gill is the hot color on crystal . I caught 1-2 fish on a 6th sense lipless crank. Also 1-2 on a sun gill Keitech swing impact. Need to find bigger fish

Interesting observation on reel sales
I know internally the carbon light is identical to the other doyo reels that I have. Couple extra metal bits and I think a bearing on the worm gear and I also think full carbon washers No supported pinion. It has been a good reel though. amazing the shimano slx and quantum accurist ( with flipping switch) can give a supported pinion for $25 less. I guess the trade off though was not full carbon washers

Are the BPS carbon light 2.0 rebadged Lew reels ?

I know but, the allure of possible catching smallies was to great. I was very surprised by the temp on crystal. I’m thinking they are really close to spawning on duck lake if they havnt started already. everything was going good untill my buddy showed up half way through at the launch. I kinda lost focus and he dosnt really have the gear to do what I wanted to do. Which, was crank, jerk bait, maybe run a Carolina rig, and or fish in that kind of wind

Rod geek fiber glass deep cranking rod is done. I had an issue with one air bubble near the hook keeper so I had to sand it out. When I re applied the epoxy I messed up by trying to only using a light coat onbig wrap with the hook keeper. Well that left ridges. So i had to sand the ridges down the best I could and then re-applied a third thicker coat and it came out pretty good. I’m only 3 regular rods on but, my epoxy job is is better this time on the guides. if the winds cooperate I can go to the lake I want I should be able to tear it out Tuesday. If I have to go to the other shallower lake I will not be. next up I want to build a 7ft light t-rig/jig bait casting rod somthing like 1/8-3/4. That will replace my 6ft 9 carbon light combo which, I’ll move to my spinner bait / chatter bait rod. After the worm/jig rod I’m thinking Carolina rig rod. It never stops and farther into the rabbit hole we go haha
