Blue Bird Skies/Warm Weather Fishing?
Was viewing the thread and wondering why the photos weren't showing....Then looked at the date stamps of the post. Guess in the end what worked a a decade ago still holds true....Except a person can throw in some new offerings.

Tracker 2018 Heritage/2019 Classic edition boat
I don't actually have one. It was more of a helpful suggestion for anybody that does and is worried about loosing the cap. For the money the Heritage edition was a really good deal. It does seem to have some quality issues but so far nothing that really would be a deal breaker in the end anyways. Silly little stuff in reality.

How Many Rods?
I fish from a kayak and sometimes take 4 rods with me which would be 2 baitcaster and 2 spinning or 3 baitcaster and 1 spinning just in case I have to go finesse to beat the skunk. I'm going out tomorrow and I'm taking a baitcaster with a lipless, baitcaster with a chatterbait, and a spinning that I'll probably give the ned rig a shot on as I've never tried it before. If all else fails I'll throw on a really small swimbait and target one of the many huge schools of carp that roam the waters as their really easy to find.

Loud splash noise when casting
Yep....Just like us bass will have a natural reaction to disturbances in their world. Some will do the deer in headlights, some will run for it, while others will go to investigate it.

Again, no Bass.. but now on my catfish rig I get this..
Nice catfish! As for the bass sometimes they like to get exercise chasing crankbaits. Maybe give it a try next time?

Tracker 2018 Heritage/2019 Classic edition boat
A couple dabs of silicone sealer on the tabs should hold it securely while allowing one to remove it later if needed.

Loud splash noise when casting
Yep....Just like humans they react in different ways.

How often do you guys get skunked?
Yep....I always watch a episode the night before I plan on going fishing. Makes my time on the water less stressful knowing that even the best have no luck at times.

I use a Galaxy phone so I'm a google guy. My phone will automatically upload a backup of my photos to my google account as long as I have cell reception or back on wifi. As far as I know they don't have any limits on bandwidth and it seems much easier as all I have to do is right click and select copy image address and then drop the link here. I really do like the look of this Bass I caught on my birthday. I'm hoping to catch her again in the future after she packs on a few more pounds....Was 5.12lbs when caught and she does have a birthmark to help ID her.

I just use my cell phone for pictures. Currently using the Galaxy S8 as I learned the hard way Kayak fisherman need a waterproof phone. What do you use for photos?

Is it a Spot or Hybrid?
Here's another one in question. I caught this one on my birthday but the dorsal fin was down so I didn't post this one as an example. I'm going to start checking the tongue and lift the dorsal as needed whenever I get one that has the look.

You can always just click the drop down next to your name and select my attachments and delete old photos. This image is from photobucket. I did a quick experiment to see if it would work and it did. All I did was drop the image url in the text body skipping the insert media option. URL=http://s664.photobucket.com/user/ken_mitch/media/Fishing/Make%20room.jpg.html] I removed the [ from the beginning of the hyperlink so it was visible. [/URL]

Estimate the weight
It' too hard to tell from the photo. But it does look like a nice one. I kayak fish and all my fish photos are the 1 handed stretch my arm shots also. I try to at least get the whole fish into them but still it's hard to guess the weight. I bought a cheap scale on Amazon to cure my curiosity. I only weight the bigger ones carefulply. I do sometimes just play the guessing game on the first one just see if my hand eye coordination is working. Getting a lot better at it once I've weighed some out. Here's a couple of photos of a Bass I caught before I bought my scale. The bucket is 14" tall and the Bass is touching the ground while it's side is touching the bucket. If the angle was a little more straight on it would be easier to guess the length at least. I'm thinking it was around 21"-22" long. Viewing the photos one would think the one next to the bucket is a bigger fish as the lighting and angle is off just enough to make it look like two different Bass. Same fish. The bucket was just to carry my stuff. I throw them all back.

Did I Snag A Carp??
Possibly. I think I've snagged 1 a couple weeks ago but it got away.I've bumped a few for sure. I caught on we the other day finally on a lipless crankbait. Rear treble in mouth so it was trying to eat my lipless. Nice fight and it was just shy of 6lbs....Toddler compared to the monsters that roam Lake Perris.

Is it a Spot or Hybrid?
I guess you guys reinforced my reasoning for posting the picture in the 1st place. I really wish I took a couple more photos of the fish in question. It was a dink but I liked the look of the little guy/gal was the only reason I took a photo in the 1st place. Thanks!

Is it a Spot or Hybrid?
It's a Bass we can all agree on. It was a dink so I took 1 quick photo and threw it back without even really thinking about it at the time. Looking at old photos was what made me wonder about it. Easy to check with fish in hand, old photo not so much.

Optimal fishing times...
I'd just go fishing. If you wait the hour you wasted it waiting, if you go and fish it can be a warm up period if nothing else. I guess you could just sleep it out and dream about fishing an extra hour also

Quest for The 7 Pound Smallmouth (Part III)
Nice fish! I'm still looking for my 1st Smallie .

New PB....Well at least I thought it was.
Was Kayak fishing Lake Perris today and hooked into what felt like my new PB Bass. It stayed down and fought hard wound up fighting it for a couple of minutes as it pulled my kayak in circles. I got a glimpse or two of it and was somewhat heart broken when I got it close enough to net. I guess in the end it's still a new PB as it's the only one I've ever caught and on a lipless crankbait to top it off. 5.93lb which looks to be a toddler compared to the monsters that thrash around my kayak at times. I only caught 3 Bass today with the largest being a 2.5lb and other 2 in the 1.5lb range.

Kayak Fish Finder Questions.
What kayak did you wind up getting. So many to choose from in the end. I used to have the Humminbird Helix 5 G2 Chirp Sonar/GPS Combo on my Slayer 10 kayak and it's a nice unit. I had the transducer mounted over the side and it does pick stuff up at times but was easy to clear as it was just to the left of me anyways. It's not convenient but if one was to mount it underneath a kayak and you do pick up stuff how would you clear it off or even know it was there anyways. Hard mounted to the bottom of your kayak might even be more damaging in the end. If you go really shallow and bounce on some rocks or stumps, etc. Side imaging does have it's benefits but does cost more. Depending on how much water you want to map it does save time as it incorporated the side image data with the sonar data. I upgraded my unit to the Lowrance Elite Ti in April when Bass Pro shops had it on sale for $349 after rebate as I wanted side imaging from the get go but at the time the units were too expensive. The transducer is huge! I'm using the Ram mount over the side mount that is made for the total scan transducer and it works really good. I pretty much take my kayak anywhere I can go in the lake and do have to clear it off once in a while when I pick up a stick, log, or even some vegetation but it's really not a issue as it's just to the left of me anyways. My mount has a bendable aluminum shaft that will give when needed so I'm not really worried about it getting damaged. I planned on mounting it to the bottom of my kayak but decided it's safer on the side anyways. I'm mainly fishing Lake Perris as I live a couple of miles away. Once I had my Elite Ti I got into the making my own map thing. The lake level was drawn down around 30ft a decade ago due to dam issues. During the process they did some reconstructive surgery to the east end and parts of the southern shoreline which wasn't on the maps I had at least. They added road bed, gravel, rock piles, etc which I wanted to be able to easily find when the lake is at full capacity. I'm only mapping the parts of the lake that I'll fish in the future from my kayak. I still have to upload some more sonar files but I'm already up to around 600 acres or so. Takes a long time to map in a kayak!

Bad Bass fishing in California?
I guess if one was to watch some episodes of Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Zona's, etc they could easily jump to the conclusion that CA fishing sucks compared to other states....Although Zona did have a awesome Bullards Bar Spot episode. I like to watch a episode of Major League Fishing the night before I plan on going out again. Seems more realistic when some anglers get skunked for hours and fight their way up the pack while others struggle on or even begin to struggle as day goes on. I can relate to the hours of nothingness as I've done it many times on Lake Perris as I'm kind of set in my ways on how I wan't to fish. I know that I could change up and possibly catch more fish in the end and I do carry a full variety of offerings....But in the end I'm a lipless crankbait grinder. You just got to find the flavor of the day. Guess it's the rush I get when it gets slammed that keeps me chucking along or possibly the areas I like to target. Kayak fishing gravitates me towards the shallower water which is infested with lots of submerged vegetation, brush, cut down trees, rock piles, etc. Luckily for me the lipless works pretty good in these areas. I get skunked once in a while just like everybody else. It's more about the fun and relaxation I get from the experience so in the end it doesn't really matter how many fish I catch. Anything from 1 Bass to 6-7 is a good day too me. Think the best day I've had was 6 Bass for 17lbs with a 5.12 lb and 4.53lb. The water level at Lake Perris has risen 23ft or so in the last 6 months. I'd imagine the Bass are somewhat dazed and confused as I doubt there's a fish alive in Lake Perris that remembers the good old days.

Changing rod color - How ?
I did pick up the BPS Carbonlight baitcaster combo when it was on sale for $119 a while ago. I'm not a fan of white rods either but the price was too good to pass up.

Is it a Spot or Hybrid?
Thanks guys! I try to get them back in the water quickly so don't really check them out too closely. Just a quick look and a photo or two. I now fish from a kayak so I can take a little more time to inspect them if need be. Lake Perris was just recently raised back up 30ft after a decade of low water so I'm hoping it'll rejuvenate itself in the near future.

Is it a Spot or Hybrid?
1st off I'm new here and not sure if this would be the correct sub-forum to post the question or not. If not I'm sorry. I live by and fish Lake Perris for the most part as it's only a couple of miles from my house. It was once one of the best Spotted Bass lakes in the country. From what I've read recently it seems like the consensus is there are no more Spots left or they have interbred with LMB and are no longer Spots. Viewing my photos of past catches (May of 2017) I notice this one has the Spotted Bass look and characteristics. Most of the time I'll snap a few different angles but it was a pretty dang small specimen about .5-1lb and on the skinny side so this is the only photo I took of it. The features make me think Spot while the mouth size makes me think LMB which makes me think a Hybrid. Thinking do to it's age and current body structure judging by the mouth might not be the best anyways. Thanks, Ken

Mercury Trim Up not working
Does the issue go the other way if you swap the relays around?
