  1. We fished Saturday in a 154 boat High School tournament out of Cypress Bend. Plus 18 Jr. Bassmaster anglers who fish along side of us. . I don't think the winner had more than 15# And 15th was around 9# That cool front screwed up the offshore fishing. And a lot of the best bags were caught near bream beds. I assume they were back in creeks. . We got on some fish late by flipping docks in lanan and should have done that all day. We could have had a top 15 doing that. But we were swinging for the fences.... Rookie mistakes. Thanks to those who have taken the time to help us. Hope to give more feedback when we fish here again. . https://www.louisianahighschoolbassnation.com/ https://www.facebook.com/LHSBNFishing
  2. I didnt see Josh's post until i refreshed. That is good stuff. As for A5.... I wanted to to stay south unless I heard something spectacular up there. We fish our jr club up there when we can, so i pay attention to him for sure. . As for your sulphur team. Good luck to them. And thanks for the reply Oh. We good. Just tying lines in the dark for a few days. Ready to get that Ida behind us and go fish.
  3. Hey guys, I am the boat captain for a High School team.... fishing the big lake this weekend. Using Cypress Bend landing. Most will be fishing the humps south of the landing. (negreet humps?). The other majority will be beating the banks and docks. Aside from a spot in Palo Gaucho we are looking for a direction to go to 'get away' from the crowds. Anyone have a good reason to venture north or south of where we are? Is there any grass close enough for us to run to? thanks Edited to add: We heard there was a little grass down south. Any intel on the whereabouts of that would help. I don't want to run way down there if that is bad intel.
  4. OK. Being in decent shape is good. Especially for people who don't visit often. I didn't really think about them moving under normal conditions. Maybe the report I got was an over reaction. Hoping to get in a little pre-fishing 10/23 Going to look at some creeks and then go try to find some humps. thanks
  5. I heard that some boat lane markers got moved around. Anyone got intel? Coming up there 10/24 - 10/26
  6. I contacted the board operator. They said there is no print function. (must have been left off the latest software update, because i read that there used to be one) ? I ran the back end of a couple of boards not too much unlike this one..... There are so many switches to turn on/off..... it is crazy. Maybe they really don't know it exists.
  7. trying to avoid 366 (and counting) screen prints
  8. Thanks. You talking about creeks? Or offshore drains? I gotta find my hook & line map and do some studying. We launch at Bay Bridge.... Plenty of options for me there.
  9. Well, then. Expect a lot of questions between now and Oct 17 First question: Will there be a shad spawn then? Or does that happen a little earlier?
  10. I am sure it would cut down on the questions you get asked
  11. Yeah. The discussion board software will print to a printer or a file. The owner of the board must not want us to do that.
  12. Anybody ever figure out how to print this thread? I want to make it into a searchable pdf document . We will be up there for our annual 2-day tournament on Oct 17/18
  13. My kid comes up there once per year for our local club tournament..... He always looks forward to the early bite with the 'Kentuckys'
  14. Yeah Catt.... I learned that. I was being hopeful since we couldn't prefish and the weather scrapped my month long plans.
  15. Okay. Back with my report for day 2 of our tournament. Wind shifted and blew us off the docks we planned to drop shot for the most part. Picked up some schoolies off main lake points and then a few fish off some docks on the north side of la nana by the 191 bridge. Taught the boys to drop shot. Worked well, but mostly short fish. Weigh in was noon so we didnt have much time to adjust. Just grind out what we had in front of us. Learned a lot. Will be better prepared next time, Looking forward to trying to fish offshore if weather is permitting. Yeah. my report came from a well known pro who recently won a tournament there. i tried to replicate his report in my area. didnt work out so well. wasted too much time on that. lesson learned
  16. Thank God for spotted bass..... Otherwise we wouldn't have weighed much. I couldn't find those shad in the backs of creeks. Kind of barren back there. And wasted too much time. Found some scattered fish on secondary points. New game plan for tomorrow. Offshore is out for us tomorrow. Kids don't want to fight the wind. . Edited to add: Cranks in white and shad patterns. Shaky head with a shad colored stick worm. White/chart spinners did most of the damage today. After looking at the map, only the secondary points with the best break lines produced. One fish coughed up part of a crawfish. Hmmm.... I think I can do that. LOL
  17. No. Just got a report. Some of the club is up there now. I am headed out about noon
  18. Shad spawn. Multiple reports of 20+ fish caught in the back of secondary creeks. Good luck. . As for me..... Thanks to everyone for the content here. I learned a LOT!!! Just my luck. I pick out several offshore holes to fish and then a couple of days before the tournament I find that a white spinner bait in the shallows will do it. . Still plan to use what I have learned here to go find a big bite if we are happy with our five fish limits this weekend. I will report back
  19. thanks AH people i have talked to say zero grass anywhere. I dont want to make a long run but i will if there is grass and biting bass there. i dont mind fishing a few humps or flipping docks later. Just sucks that it is too far to prefish
  20. More: We will not have an opportunity to pre-fish. We fish out of a 20ft Lowe CC.... No power poles. Cheap electronics(Can't decide whether to upgrade electronics or wait until I get a different boat). So our bottom vision isn't good. I have fished lakes. But mostly experienced in farm ponds growing up and rivers and basin fishing the last 3yrs with the Jr. Bassmasters. Just need some tips on which patterns to focus on and where. I watched Ken Smith videos with Albert/Glen..... wow!! But that doesn't help me much being 4hrs away. Plan so far: Fish the shallow point just north of Pendleton for a topwater bite. It is too close to the river to ignore. Fish the community hole just s.w. of the bridge. (12 ft hump) After that I am thinking the flats at waypoint 52 and maybe the island at waypoint 48(its on the way to 52)
  21. Well, I havent gotten very far through this thread..... And we have a tourney there on the 20th & 21st. . Can someone recommend any particular pages of this post I need to focus on? Or...., any good tips?!!?!?! Looks like I will be sitting on a couple of community holes. Been there only once. Mostly to get a feel for the boat lanes. Pre-fished shallow water only (was before I saw this monster post). We launch at bay bridge resort by the Pendleton bridge. We don't like to go too too far..... this is just a JR. Southwest Bassmasters club tourney. We aren't crazy hard core fishermen.... But experienced(the boys are good fishermen but this is a second sport for us)..... We just love competing and winning from time to time. And we just love our little club. TIA
  22. My eyes hurt.... I will have to pick back up another time. All great stuff. Thanks to the contributors.
