Boat wouldn’t fit the trailer so it’s a no go. Ridiculously cheap is $100 with a minn Kota maxxum on the bow and two leather seats worth the money alone. After seeing it in person it would have definitely been over kill for the reservoirs I planned to use it on. I’m just going to find another tinny with a wider beam and build it up to what I want. Thanks for all the input though everybody.

I have an opportunity to get a nice little fiberglass bass boat for ridiculously cheap but the reason is there’s a crack in the transom and the engine doesn’t work. Engine doesn’t matter to me because I’d be using it as an electric only reservoir boat anyway and have the trolling motors already. I’m just wondering how I’d go about repairing that crack. I’ve never had a fiberglass boat before.

I appreciate it y’all, I ended up just carpeting the board and laying it across my seats. I took a few 1”x6” and bolted them to the deck for the bow trolling mount, I think it’ll work fine. Probably going to get it on the water here soon to try it out. Thanks again for all the advice!

Building a front casting deck with a spot to mount a bow trolling motor. Trying to keep this as simple as possible. Does anyone who has done something like this have any advice? I’m in Macedonia about 30ish minutes from Gainesville in Cherokee county. I’d like to fish with you sometime, Im usually fishing myself as well or with friends who don’t take it as seriously as I do. Schedule is pretty open as of now if you’d like to plan something.

I live in Cherokee and know how it is.. most of my friends or family just isn’t into fishing like I am and rarely if ever want to go. I only have a 14’ jon boat I take on hickory log creek reservoir and plan to get it on Hollis q lathem and some other electric only reservoirs. I’d be down to fish sometime if you’re up for it.

Just saw your reply. I’ve had success almost every outing with squarebills around and in laydowns. jigs in the same areas. Colorado bladed spinnerbaits, single and double. Lipless cranks. Jerk baits have produced here and there for me but not as much as the others I’ve listed. I feel you about the bank fishing.. was there not long ago but got a jon boat recently. It’s not much but still a game changer for me being able to access any water in these smaller reservoirs and also utilize sonar. Probably wouldn’t do Hollis q lathem if I were you. It’s extremely limited over there for bank fishing. Hickory log creek has better access but only to an extent. You can fish a stretch of rip rap about 120 yards long, give or take a little on both sides of a road with a spillway in the middle. That’s right at the boat ramp. There’s a trail at the back of the parking lot that runs along the water for a decent ways that eventually gets to some laydowns you can access from the bank but you gotta do a good little trek to get there. Might be more access somewhere but I’m unaware of it.

I believe it’s going on for five or six more days. At least where I’m at it is.. north metro Atlanta area. picked up 3 h20 xpress ethos HD rods, all 6’6” fast, one medium heavy and two mediums, all for $52.47. Less than the cost of one at regular price. Also got a 7’ medium lightning rod for $5. the amount of $ I’ve spent for the amount of hard baits it’s unreal. Definitely don’t sleep on this sale, and try to check more than one academy if you have them in your area. I’ve been to three so far and found different stuff at each. One didn’t have anything for rods except three literally broken in half rods, while another had a bunch of the ethos, lightning rods, castaways, etc... also found some nice No limits paddling life vests for $2.50 which usually go for $79.99. Bought extras if anyone is interesting in making some offers. Size M/L.

Hickory log creek reservoir is in canton. smallish lake at just over 400 acres. I’ve caught some decent largemouth out of there and have seen pictures/heard of 7s and 8s pulled out as well. Hollis Q. Lathem resevoir is another smaller lake (334 acres) in the north east corner of Cherokee up by Dawsonville. Haven’t fished it much but it has a Facebook page dedicated to fishing the res, which has some good catches posted on it.

you’re the man, Glenn! Found your video on trick worms a little while back and been browsing your videos/articles since. You’re great at simplifying topics to where people can easily learn something new or pick up some tips they didn’t already know. thanks for what you’ve done and continue to do here! Nothing a short drive north can’t fix fellas. Should have the jon boat water-ready by spring. if y’all ever want to come up to fish just hit me up on here.. I’m sure we could make something happen.

Consider using some shallow tackle trays as well to free up some space. I was searching high and low recently for a new backpack and ended up with an outdoor products backpack from Walmart. At 29L storage it’s not overly big but has been great for me when combined with the slimmer boxes. You’d be surprised at what can fit into those 3600/3700 shallow models. I use two of the 3600, one 3700, and a worm binder for plastics which all fit inside the bag no problem with all my other stuff like pliers, scale, line conditioner, dyes, etc.

I own both a fury and Sierra, recently scored the Sierra in a local shop for $80 on Black Friday, couldn’t pass it up. The difference in sensitivity is incredible. I think you’ll really enjoy it.

Dang, not too bad but still a good drive. I’m almost right in between Lanier and Allatoona. About 25 minutes west to Allatoona/Etowah mouth, 20 minutes east to Lanier. Carters isnt too far from me either. We also have a couple decent sized electric motor only reservoirs which I’ll definitely be hitting up come spring. Hickory Log creek and Hollis Q. Lathem.

Savannah isn’t too far, man. What lakes are you referring to? There are quite a bit. Lanier, Carters, Allatoona.. just to name a few.

New here from north Georgia. Mainly fish smaller waters due to not having a boat at the moment but will fish bigger reservoirs occasionally. Bank fishing big lakes can be frustrating, but bank fishing anywhere can be also so I try to make the best of it. Enjoy reading all the great content that’s put on here.
